Todd Schaefer is truly the most unprofessional doctor I have ever went to in my life. Upon entering the office of ENT Allergy and Associates at 6 Ohio Drive and seeing Dr. Schaefer, he was very stand offish. He checked my nose and shortly after just stuck two qtips in my nose and left it there without telling me what he was going to do or why he was doing it. When I asked him what it was for, he continued speaking about whatever it was he was speaking about in which I had to ask again and he mentioned it was because my nose was congested but didn’t proceed to tell me what it was that was on the qtips- I had to probe more. As a doctor, he should be informing his patients of procedures and processes he will be performing on his patients. As I proceeded to ask questions about conditions he was casually telling me I had, he was visibly annoyed that I was asking questions. After taking my hearing test and visiting his room again, he gave me a diagnosis as though he told me this diagnosis before the hearing test in which I was confused and asked questions again. He then said “I thought I told you this” rudely. He prescribed a medication in which I ended up having an allergic reaction to and when I called to speak to him, a representative put me on hold. When Dr. Schaefer got on the call and I proceeded to tell him my symptoms, he stated in a very annoyed voice “Yes I already know that”. As though I was aware that the representative already briefed him on my symptoms. When I asked him how long my symptoms would take to disappear, he rudely stated “I’m not Houdini and I would not be able to tell you”. He has no bed side manners or any manners at that. He’s very rude and has a demeanor that he knows everything and god forbid you ask any questions to keep yourself informed of your diagnosis- it’s an annoyance to him and his ego. I told him he was rude and his comment was uncalled for in which he stated “I’m just trying to help”. I’m not sure how an attitude and sarcasm is helpful during a time of medical need. It is safe to say I won’t be ever seeing him again. I hope everyone who is thinking of going to this office heeds this review to avoid an unprofessional and arrogant encounter.

Worst physician visit I have ever experienced. Absolutely did not involve the patient in the decision making process. Had very sarcastic answers to simple questions and concerns about the procedure. Therefore I cannot rate his knowledge because he did not explain anything to me. Put the blame on the patient when the procedure did not go as quick and straightforward as he wanted. Staff was excellent.

When I first consulted Dr. B. Todd Schaeffer about having surgery for a deviated septum I was quite skeptical. For years and years I suffered with severe congestion and constant nose blowing. I didn't really believe it would help, but I decided to trust and went through with the surgery. I am so happy, I get through my morning, I get through dinner and do not have to blow my nose. That is not all he did for me, I now look years younger and have a pretty nose. I am very happy with my results. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Dr. B. Todd Schaefer.

I've been to many doctors over the past 20 months since I had a Works Comp accident . I had a blow out fracture of the lower orbit of my left eye ,my head and my face has never been the same since. After meeting Dr Schaeffer and his staff , I finally can say after all these months ...Thank God for Dr. Schaeffer . He listens to you , he takes the time to explain everything to you . He is so knowledgable and an expert in his field. His staff Francine and Marisa are great , eager to help you , especially with my injury being a Workers Comp Case . I highly recommend Dr. Schaeffer , you will not disappointed .

Biography

Patient Testimonial:"Dear Dr. Schaeffer, I hope this email finds you well during this prolonged Covid pandemics. I would like to have a chance to appreciate again your fanststic septoplasty surgery on my nose. It really changed my life. Before the surgery, I typically suffered from sneezing after waking up every morning, but not any more. It was best decision that I flew to your office to get the care. Thank you so much Dr. Schaeffer. Best, Byunghoon Bae" Bio:B. Todd Schaeffer, MD, FACS is a board certified surgeon who specializes in endoscopic surgery of the nose, face, neck, sinuses and skull base. He has been performing advance endoscopic and laser procedures for over twenty years since graduating from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is the Chief and Associate Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology -Communicative Disorders at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine.Dr. Schaeffer has been at the forefront of minimally invasive procedures by helping develop new technologies and techniques. He was the first surgeon to perform balloon sinus dilation in New York State. He was also the first sinus surgeon to perform in–office balloon sinus dilation in the northeastern United States. He has been a national clinical researcher for in-office nasal and sinus procedures. He has been a principal investigator for in office balloon endoscopic sinus procedures, sinus implants, nasal polyp studies and other novel sinus studies.Benign and malignant nasal sinus tumors are removed endoscopically by avoiding external incisions. These tumors commonly invade the skull base, which requires reconstruction with a vascularized pedicle nasal septal mucosal flap, which prevents CSF leaks. He is one of a few surgeons who have experience at CSF Leak Repair endoscopically through the nose. He works with neurosurgeons to remove brain tumors through the nose. They use 3D endoscopic technology and computer navigation to remove pituitary tumors and skull base tumors in pediatric and adult patients. These techniques are based from his experiences from the more common operations he performs for correcting a deviated nasal septum, endoscopic sinus surgery with image guidance, balloon dilation of sinuses and plastic surgery of the nose. Many of these procedures he performs in the office avoiding general anesthesia. This allows for a quicker and easier recovery. He is one of a few surgeons in the country who routinely perform correction of deviated nasal septums (Septoplasty) in the office under local anesthesia avoiding general anesthesia. This is safer for the patient and an easier recovery with less bleeding and discomfort. No nasal packing is required."Endoscopic Cosmetic Surgery: Endoscopic Liposhaving" is a technique he original described to recontour necks for youthfulness and to remove selected fatty tumors from the neck. Rhinoplasty (reshaping the external nose) he only performs with a closed technique (no external incisions) and uses endoscopes to help eliminate small bony prominences on the bridge of the nose. This helps ensure a better profile. Blepharoplasty (eye lid surgery for youthfulness) is performed in the office with local anesthesia and mild oral sedation. This is performed for both upper and lower eyelids with skin and fat removal. This is also safer for the patient and well tolerated.Dr. Schaeffer has numerous original publications and a wide array of medical/surgical videos posted on his YouTube channel NoseMD. He has been invited to lecture locally, nationally and internationally. To learn more about Balloon Sinus Dilation please visit www.sinussurgeryoptions.comDr. Schaeffer was interviewed by Dr. Max Gomez from CBS Channel 2 on 3D endoscopic surgery.
