He fit me in despite heavy booking as I had something in my eye that two other doctors could not diagnose. Turned out to be a suture left over from cataract surgery a year earlier. He removed it and hence I no longer had blurred vision.

Dr. Aurangzeb is absolutely hands down THE best cataracts surgeon PERIOD. If you need cataracts surgery there really is no better doctor to see. My father lost vision in his left eye due to an ocular stroke and was left with one good eye that needed cataracts surgery. At first he was very apprehensive about the surgery because it's his only good eye but after meeting with Dr. Auran and going over the risks and benefits, he felt completely comfortable with the decision to go through with the surgery. Dr. Auran is very comforting and knowledgable he takes his time with his patients and is very respectful. The surgery was successful thank God and Dr. Auran and his surgical staff were superb. We could not have asked for a better doctor!

This is one of the best doctors in Manhattan. He is highly knowledgeable, very focused on the patient primarily and optimally accessible. This doctors is excellent for routine eye problems. I had some abnormalities and he was outstanding.

Wonderful man and doctor. After cataract surgery left with his home phone #, cellphone # and vacation home # with instructions not to wait to call. EXTRAORDINARY AND UNHEARD OF. No problems at all. Sailed trough -no wonder the medical students award him prizes.

I'm finally done with the Cataract Surgeries to both my eyes! I must thank the following Doctor: http://www.columbiaeye.org/?coc_auran.html He probably was the nicest doctor, never pushy, not totally interested in racking up the medical bills, and was not condescending or anything but straightforward. I can see MUCH better, without halos or the "looking out a frosted glass window". Especially appreciated was the richness of colors and sharpness when watching TV. If you *ever* need a top-notch doctor for anything eye related- see Dr. Auran!

Lovely guy. (cute too, in a sort of waspy way) I totally agree with the other reviews. He explains things- he is very Harvard that way (his undergraduate school). His staff sometimes fails to leave messages. After they blew me off for a while when I had a long-standing difficult problem- he gave me his cell which was nice. I think he is quite thorough, too. Bring a good book for your appointment- lots of time may be spent in the waiting room.

This doctor is amazing. Fitted me in the next day despite having appointments booked for two months. Diagnosed my eye problem after two other ophthalmologists missed it completely. Cured the problem, even gave me his cell number and called me back! No doctor had ever done this for me before. Put him at the top of your list for eye care.
