Ignored signs of strep B causing me to have my baby 2 months early at 32weeks. When he delivered by c-section the amniotic fluid was completely infected! He sewed me up and did not put me on any antibiotics. Then released me two days later. I ended up in the ER with a high temp. He said a cat scan was not needed and put me on antibiotics. The next day orange infected fluid was gushing out of my incision. Took the bandage off and my incision was abscessed all the way across. He opened it with a q-tip had whomb care pack it and put a whomb vac in it. Release me again within two days. Not even 24hrs later I had an extremely high temp of 104, was readdmited to the ER and they immediately did the cat scan. Found out the absesses were all the way around my uterus thanks to him sewing me up with an infection inside and not treating it! I ended up with an emergency hysterectomy and colon surgery because the infection took over. Not to mention my premie baby and all could have been avoided.

Dr Kurtz is good but his immediate assistant doesn't do him justice. He deserves so much better than her. For about 2-3yrs I put up with the rude & snobby demeanor toward me until the last visit when I finally decided I had enough. So I complained to the office manager & long story short they didn't believe me. I was not even offered the option for someone else to stand in for her. So I asked if I could just have someone else come in the room & the answer was "No, Dr Kurtz won't go for that". And let me add that certain staff no longer work there. They were the nicest staff members there, but never the assistant. Maybe she is nice to everyone else but not me. I feel like I have been slapped in the face by Dr Kurtz & his staff. After ALLOWING him to deliver 3 of my kids, & always speaking highly of him, this is the "thanks" I get. He's a good doctor who could do so much better than his assistant. Would've been happy with just someone else in the room.

Dr Kurtz is wonderful with PCOS. He made it so I could get pregnant. WONDERFUL man and doctor. It is in a "hill billy" town but worth the drive from Nashville.

Dr. Kurtz was my OB in Nashville before he moved to Columbia. He is the best! I actually drove to see him in Columbia one time----but it was just too far. (Plus his staff in Nashville was great as well----and they didn't move with him!) I truly believe that my son would not have been born if my husband's insurance hadn't changed and I switched to Dr. K. I'd had three m/c's before I went to him bleeding in my 7th week of my 4th pregnancy. He did blood work and found my progestrone to be low. I took progestrone until 12wks and the rest of my pregnancy and delivery were PERFECT. He made decisions about my care and always told me why he'd made the decisions. I didn't agree with him on everything (prenatal testing because I was over 35) and he did not take offense. I so wish he would move back to Nashville!!!!! THANK YOU DR KURTZ!
