Dr. Carlson was the best primary care doctor I've ever had. Great bedside manner, always greeted his patients with a smile, handshake and - EYE contact. I NEVER had a problem with "un- availability" and was always able to get an appointment when needed, contrary to some of the older commentators stated (did we see the same doctor?) His office was run VERY efficiently, like a well oiled machine. Not only that but he was very hands on, detail oriented, and I ALWAYS received an immediate call whenever blood work or tests came back - even when the information was only "everything is fine". He's an extraordinarily compassionate doctor- which is important and rare - and it has been extremely difficult to find another to fill his shoes. I speak for MANY other patients I have come across as we trudge through yet another un-personable and disinterested replacement's office in an attempt to establish ourselves not only with a new primary care doctor we can bear, but one we are actually pleased with. He was even my grandmothers doctor back in the day (hospital rounds and all) and went above and beyond to help us when her health stated to rapidly fail. I'd highly recommend him. As for leaving NY, I'm sure - for both professional and personal reasons - it was in his best interest and, although it was our loss, I'm quite sure it is your gain IL.

I don't typically go on sites like this to rate Dr.'s, but Dr. Carlson is wonderful. He spends a lot of time with me, and is always thorough and super smart. Highly recommended.

I was a patient of his in New York for about 12 years. I was so sad to see him leave. I still have not found the same kind of doctor I had in him. I have searched and searched all of Long Island. He was extremely brilliant, and on top of his knowledge he was a very caring doctor. My entire family seen him and we all miss him terribly. When explaining he never used medical jargon, instead he used simple terminology to ensure you understood. Long Island, New York lost the best when he moved away. Doc Long Island misses you very much, there is no replacement out there for you!

Doctor Carlson is the best doctor I have ever had. He has seen me and my family for the last tweleve years. He has helped me and my family live a better life. He has helped me reduce my blood pressure mediciation and understand the side effects. He never rushes you when you see him for an appointment and cares for the patient. I wish there were more doctors like Dr.Carlson. He is a good person and a great doctor!

I have to disagree with all these negative comments, I am a current pt of Dr Carlson and I think he is amazing not only with myself but my children as well. He has wonderfull bed side mannors, as well as he is very caring and polite. His office is very open with apts and can get you in right away, he is not judgemental and sits and listens to what you have to say then he diagnoses you! he is not a quack that asks what is wronge and guesses and then just gives you meds to shut uou up .. Dr Carlson follow's through with his pt and will even take the time to call them himself to make sure they are ok.. If thats what you call a bad DR then I think these poeple leaving bad reviews should find a dr that is better cause I am pretty sure you wont..

Physician was very intelligent and made me feel extremely comfortable during whole examination process. Like one other patient remarked it was like "I had known Dr. Carlson my whole life." I reviewed most of the other comments and was taken back by the negative reviews. Everyone seated in the waiting room with me was very excited to see Dr Carlson and gave him great reviews before I even met him; and they were right! My visit wasn't over until he made sure I had no other concerns. Great doctor! Loved his book too!

I feel like the practice went downhill after Scott left.. Something fishy. I am a Healthcare Professional myself and DR Carlson did my last physical without even looking down my throat or in my ears. He barely lifte his stethoscope to me...I was about to change cps when I got the call that his practice was taken over...very wierd,,,wonder what really happened

I used to love Dr. Carlson and was very happy with him for years until he simply disappeared recently. Staff said they had zero notice also. I saw the person who took over the practice and let's put it this way...I'm on the lookout for a new doctor. When my parent's doctor of many years retired he sent out a letter to all of his patients informing them of the change. Something similar would have been nice.

I stayed with Dr. Carlson longer than I should have, mostly because of his NP. You can never really see the doctor when you are sick. When I finally did see him for pain in my wrist, he gave up after X-rays didn't show a problem, shrugged, and told me to see a specialist. What type of specialist, exactly? I had to drag more information out of him. The staff is rude, and apparently I annoy them just by calling for an appointment. I frankly have had better experiences at the local clinic. I'm going to look for another doctor.

I have been with doctor Carlson since he openned his practice in Port Jefferson, NY. Also was my son's doctor. Was very caring and pleasant, knowledgeable man who really seemed to care about his patients but after he wrote his book, I believe it all went downhill from there. My son wasn't able to see a doctor when he was sick. Seemed like you could only make monthly appts. Had to change my son's primary. Never got back to you with tests results in a timely fashion. Cut office hours, almost seemed to be part time. Staff very rude, they always seemed bothered when you called the office. No emergency doctor to cover him. Then just this week he got up and left state without giving his patients or staff as I was told any notice.
