Dr. Tara Allmen is an exceptional doctor. She cares about her patients well beyond her specific practice as an OB/GYN. She is an expert in womens health, really all aspects of health and well being. She always offered helpful actionable guidance whenever I’ve expressed concerns. Lastly she is very generous with her time. On many occasions, she will often call return calls during her personal time (which is above and beyond many other physicians in my experience.)

She doesn’t do insurance, lab work, or actual sickness. She’s been my doctor for 5 years but I’ve lost confidence in her. Fine for general annual, but If you are sick, or think you may be, do not see her. She isn’t really a treatment/diagnosis doctor.

I have been a patient of Dr. Allmen's for over ten years. I was referred to Dr. Allmen by my longtime OGBYN when I started my menopausal journey. Dr. Allmen not only educated me on the intricacies of menopause, but she also got me though a very difficult time during this inevitable life transition. Dr. Allmen's examinations were thorough. Dr. Allmen was attentive, insightful, available, knowledgeable, caring and a great listener. Dr. Allmen gave me several different therapeutic options to navigate my transition, which is different for every woman. Together we determined my individual course of action and within days I felt at ease and more physically and mentally stable. After years of being a loyal patient and being in great gynecological health, Dr. Allmen just moved to a beautiful new office at 1056 Fifth Avenue in NYC. I highly recommend booking an appointment with Dr. Allmen & if you can’t get to NYC, she is the author of the highly acclaimed book: “Menopause Confidential”.

I have been a patient of Dr. Allmen since 2016 and she was very helpful, at first, with peri-menopausal symptoms. However, lately (since her move to 5th Avenue?) she's been quick to dismiss my questions and concerns--and with an arrogance that is quite disturbing. I highly recommend consulting with a NAMS-certified gynecologist. Just not this one.

Dr. Allmen is a highly competent doctor. She works from a comprehensive, research-based model with an approach that is warm and humorous. Dr. Allmen is very responsive to my communication and follows-up immediately with pending issues (i.e., prescriptions for diagnostic testing, various referrals, testing results). I've been her patient for three years and plan to remain so!

Dr. Allmen is a wonderful doctor; thorough and gentle in her exams. She is extremely knowledgeable about women's midlife health and makes you at ease in discussing uncomfortable topics. She listens to all your concerns and normalizes menopause. I have referrred back to her book several times; it is a must read for women in their forties. I feel fortunate to have her as my doctor!

Dr. Allmen is an amazing doctor - old school in the way she treats her patients - she never keeps you waiting, and takes the time to discuss your overall health whilst seated in her office, rather than during the examination. Her depth of knowledge in treating senior women's health issues is unsurpassed. Her examination techniques are gentle and comfortable, her office space is warm and welcoming and her bedside manner is delightful. I am so happy I found her. I now look forward to seeing her once a year - something that I could never say before becoming Dr. Allmen's patient.

Dr. Allmen is warm, welcoming and extremely smart. She has an immaculate and beautiful office, there's no wait time, and she is attentive to all of your needs.
She takes plenty of time to listen and understands the uncomfortable dynamic of a woman who is experiencing the harsh symptoms of menopause.
Her book Menopause Confidential is a must read. It covers everything you need to know about your changing body.
I highly recommend Dr. Allmen!
