AVOID this Doctor at all cost! you will be a client not a patient! He will treat you in 3 minutes or less. I have been to him numerous times for same issue and not once did he ask me to take my coat off, I had a arm injury!! you would think taking my coat off so he could examine it would be step 1? Not a chance! After 6 visits I finally got an Xray that shown I had a torn rotator cuff and MRI came later to show more damage. What did he do? NOTHING! Then I hurt my back , several visits and nothing, same steps, Several appointments finally get a xray and show several issues with disks and curved spine. What did he do? NOTHING, years go by and I broke my hand, same steps! several appointments and finally get MRI , had plenty of damage to tendons and what did he do? NOTHING! Now I try to tell him my back is out I cannot put my socks on myself he doesn't get you to move, flex, bend or anything, after a few visits I get sent to xray and the process starts again!!! in the meantime I try to tell him my arm is still fked! my hand is fked, I mean bad pain!! it affects every aspect of my life and work and he yells at me! ONE TOPIC per visit! well I been here years of appointments for each topic and he has led me nowhere!!!!! So now I give him a chance to address it all and he freaks out. In one week i was there 4 times for 2 things because of his policies and each of those 2 things he sent me for xrays ! I had to go to same damn xray clinic twice in two days because of his one topic per! I could of had both down on day one .. DO NOT GO TO THIS GUY!!! The most arrogant Doctor I have ever witnessed. All you are to this guy is a pay cheque..

Enduring Dr. Bouwer’s insufferable approach for the past several years has reached its limit for me. His ludicrous policy of limiting discussions to one complaint per visit starkly undermines the concept of comprehensive healthcare. Coupled with his overt arrogance, disinterest, and the sheer audacity with no more than a mere three minutes of his precious time, it’s blatantly obvious that his entry into the medical profession was a grievous misstep. One received much better attention at the most basic walk-in clinic. Thus, I’m moving on, with an overwhelming sense of relief and anticipation for what genuine care looks like.

Dr. Bouwer has been my doctor for many years. I learned quickly he's not interested in solving issues that cant be explained in less than one sentence. But if you have a straight forward problem you'll be out that door with a prescription or solution in under 5 mins.

CONS
- He's arrogant and rude.
- Feels like he's rushing you to get to the next patient.
- He doesn't like to discuss your diagnosis. You are expected to take what ever prescription or recommdation without questions or he will visably become annoyed.
- "there's nothing I can do" for a problem that I later learned does have treatment.

PROS
- He hasn't had a wrong diagnosis for me yet. (No major diagnosis)
- pretty fast to get an appointment.

I have been with Dr. Bouwer for a few years after leaving the worst Dr. in Ft. Mac. On the fist visit he tested what felt like everything and found I am diabetic, a fact the other DR. missed in 7 annual checkups.
I have had a few medical issues since and he has correctly diagnosed and treated each one, he never made any assumptions but did the tests before coming to conclusions every time. If you want the right diagnosis and treatment this is the Dr. for you, if you want someone to prescribe recreational drugs to you it is not.
I have read some bed reviews and would like to clarify some of them.
1. He treats one complaint at a time. True and I appreciate that. It means I don't have to sit in the waiting room for hours while he listens to some hypochondriac looking for conversation. Also, I do not work for free and neither do I expect him to.
2. Some people complain he has bad "Bedside manner". He is my Dr. If I want a friendly chat I go and visit my friends. He treats the medical problem and uses the time you wanted for idle chatter to treat other peoples medical issues, That is his job and he is damn good at it. If you need a friend go find one.

Dr. Bouwer and his staff provide exceptional service. I've never waited long to see him, with his receptionist calling me if a cancelation opens up an opportunity to get in sooner. An active listener, he has an uncanny ability to get to the crux of the issue or concern that brought me to him.

Absolutely horrible doctor he’s rude and condescending when speaking to you. I came in for an injury and he continued to tell me i’m wasting my time getting a second option and an xray which the 2nd doctor told me to do. Bouwer told me to “Suck it up there are hockey players that get hurt everyday and you don’t see them crying”… I went to another doctor to find out i had a slipped disc in my spine

He was very ignorant and arrogant to me, even got up on his feet to give me some theatrics while he threatened to drop me like a bad potato, pretty immature and Canada needs better doctors than him.

I am pleased to have Dr Bouwer for my family doctor. I have been a patient for a number of years and trust his service. Staff and booking has always been very efficient.

I have been a patient since Dr Bouwer started his practice in YMM. I have since moved to YEG and still make the commute to keep him as a Dr. Highly competent and very direct. He wont waste my time, so I dont waste his. He has always been correct in his assessment for my ailments or symptoms.

Very passionate about patient care, occupational care and the Oilers.

Highly recommend.
