Dr Kraft referred me to Dr Malak a year ago. I presented with 8.6?PSA. Psa. Did free PSA ratio which was less than ten percent. At this point saw Dr Malak. With the new guidelines he did PSA again. Told me do another in a month. Came in at 7.4. Said check in three months 8.6. Obviously cause for concern. Retrospect I should have requested biopsy right off the bat. The MOH guidelines indicate psa inaccrate often but the free ratio shows 60% chance of aggressive cancer. June Biopsy showed clinical diagnosis multifocal cancer Booked surgery for Nov with General anesthesia. Cardiologist conslult due my pacemaker implant etcc.
I find this man very knwledgeable and thorough. Superb surgeon I would say. Best in town certainly. Ask any nurse at the hospital. You ned someone with sharp objects around your sensitive parts you can't do much better. If you're looking for a cuddly friend and conversationalist go to the bar.
I see many people have complaints here. I suppose with the amount of volume of patients he handles there will be friction of course. He works in an extremely sensitive area. He deals with delivering devastating bad news many times a day which must make one perhaps somewhat hard and distant I would imagine. I do the same moving shattered people in airambulance. You can not be overly involved or empathetic. Just be professional and sometimes even nice.
He does what he does his own way as it has shown the best possible outcomes. .personally I am quite happy with the experience sofar. I have problems of course but they are minor compared to what Frank Zappa and Pierre Elliot Trudeau went thru.
Thanks to Dr Malak.

Malak is rude, demanding, appears to treat patients as an interference to his daily routine. Care for no one but himself and really treats patients as sub-human. An embarrassment to the profession.

Went to see this doctor for a bladder scope many years ago due to blood in urine. The nurse had excellent bed manners, very gentle and soft spoken and respectful of my privacy. Had me prepared in hospital gown with only penis exposed for procedure. Malak stormed into room, grabbed my gown and ripped it off me in one violent pull, like he was Zorro, leaving me stark naked while he performed a very rough invasive procedure. This man is a brute and should not be allowed to practice medicine. I still feel trauma after many years. It is disgusting that he continues with his BAD behaviour.

I had my son via c-section and between labour and c-section I developed a "fistula" which is a hole from your bladder to your vagina so you pee yourself constantly. The Dr. who did my c-section was Dr. Farley would NOT recommend him. I believe he messed up and cut my bladder because apparently people in poor countries get this from prolonged labour. My labour was not long start to finish 8 hours. I got recommended to see Dr. Malak because "his hands were made for surgery" I call **** because he cut me from the belly button down because it was easier for him and when the surgery was over my scar is crooked and overlaps my skin! Now I have a crooked belly with a limp on the side because he pulled my skin up and over and stapled I have to take pain killers for the pain and it's been a year and 3 months!! I hope he reads these comments. You need to hang up your white coat and leave this profession, you are a monster that has NO compassion. You has no right to be called a Dr.

As a prostate cancer survivor for 10 years and a PSA less than 0.01 I am grateful to Dr. Abdel Malak and his staff for their professionalism and saving my life. Colin B Paul (now living in Campbell River BC)

He misdiagnosed me. Told me I had a bowel issue. 6 Months later, I had a repeat of the symptoms. I decided to seek another opinion and turns out it was a kidney issue. He passed me off because I was overweight. Told me to eat more vegetables. He didn't even ask me what my diet was prior to making that recommendation. He is an absolute jerk with no bed side manners at all. His arrogance got in the way of making a proper diagnosis. I would never recommend anyone going to see him. There is a reason he is a 3 month wait and any other Urologist in the area is almost a year wait. Nobody goes back to him after their first experience.

This so called doctor misdiagnosed my father and now my father is dead and this doctor never took my father seriously when he was ill. Not only is he a lousy doctor but horrible person. He has no compassion for people and picks and chooses the patients he likes to be nice to. Best advice to anyone who is under his care, find another doctor right away, don't take chances staying under his care.

It's HIS way, or, the highway!! My husband and I had done extensive research into new diagnostic tools for diagnosing prostate cancer WITHOUT biopsy. He laughed at us and said he did things HIS way. Needless to say we are looking for another urologist, Sad to say we will likely have to go outside of Thunder Bay to do that !! NOT a FORWARD thinker .. stuck in the nuck !!!!
