This dentist is a butcher stay away. If he were the last dentist I would get all my teeth pulled in Mexico.

I will not do back to him. Right from the get go with freezing I was not impressed. He was very rough and when he had to move the needle around as they do, he dragged it along my bottom teeth, with no consideration of chipping a tooth or my comfort level. Multiple times he would lie his forearm across my face and was knocking my glasses off my face. He got annoyed I kept using the suction (sorry I can't swallow with my mouth wide open!) He told me if I feel anything during my root canal to put my hand up and he would stop. I put it up twice and he carried on eventhough I started to moan from discomfort. Once my body literally jumped from pain and he told me to lie still. Sorry buddy, let me jam a steel needle in your canal and see how still you lie.

This review is for Nov 2011, and honestly my experience is the worse nightmare anyone could have. I was 36 wks pregnant with a severe toothache and according to my dentist, in need of a root canal. I am not going to talk about the crazy fees and rude receptionist, just that what he did to me and my tooth resulted in going directly to emergency department in hospital, get admitted due to high blood pressure as a result of dental work under no freezing, a tooth abscess needing intravenous antibiotics which kept me in hospital for seven days followed by C/S for the birth of my child. Throughout all of this I contacted his office many time but could not talk to him once. Very ignorant doctor indeed. Please avoid him!

Dr Mulhern only allotted 1 1/2 hours for my root canal. It turns out he couldn't complete it within the time period, so without informing me that the work wasn't finished, he refilled my tooth. Then he told me to come back the next day for another 1 1/2 hour appointment. He should have taken the time to complete it instead of wanting me go through the whole procedure again. I was not impressed by his manner or work at all. I did not, and will not, go back to him. There are ways to lessen the pain of a needle, but he doesn't bother to try. He mentioned I needed a filling in another tooth and that because of the location it was going to be difficult to fill. My dentist filled it without any problem. And by running the needle under hot water, without any pain.

My root canal experience with Dr. Mulhern and his staff yesterday was superb in every respect. Before we started, I advised him of my low pain threshold and he was very respectful of it - lots of checking with me during the process to ensure I was OK. There was a small amount of pain but I've had root canals before, small amounts of discomfort are inevitable, and this was less painful than some of the others. His office is typical Medical Arts, not at all tired, but comfortable, and exactly what one would expect. His staff completely exceeded my expectations with a wonderful service demeanor. My insurance claim was somewhat complex and they promised they would check with the insurers to determine eligibility and get back to me by telephone. THEY DID!! Expensive? Yes - very but after reading some of the other reviews on this site, I researched the web and knew what to expect since my work involved performing a root canal around/through an existing gold crown. I'm glad my regular dentist referred me to Dr. Mulhern for this treatment.

I have seen Dr. Mulhern 4 years ago for a root canal.He was excellent and very pleasent.This time around was a very poor experience.I worked for 6 years in General Surgery and if I ever treated my patients like the receptionist from Dr. Mulhern did,I would not have had a job for long.She was rude, nasty, and unprofessional.I called my referring dentist to told her to either refer me to another specialest or just pull the tooth as I would not be going back there again. The receptionist did not inform me of their office policy of payment BEFORE I went to the appointment.I was told they do not contact the insurance company and I needed to pay upfront. PLEASE NOTE:THIS IS NOT AGAINST DR. MULHERN-HIS OFFICE STUFF/RECEPTIONIST NEEDS A COARSE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND OFFICE PROCEEDURES.Still would not recommend this office as first impressions means a great deal.My Insurance is willing to pay 100% for this treatment;however,I will be going to an office that knows how to treat their patients.

Very knowledgable dentist...and honest. A rare thing in dentists now a days. Thanks Dr. Mulhern for your patience with me and answering all my questions. I think together we made the best decision for my tooth...even if it wasn't a root canal in the end.

The worst experience of my life, never had this much pain from a root canal. Has poor bedside manners , old run down office with unprofessional staff.

I am so grateful to this Endodontist and his staff. I had to fly down for emergency dental treatment from the Arctic and was delayed by a blizzard. Dr. Mulhern and his staff stayed late in order to do the necessary endodontal work. I had been in extreme pain, my face swollen and tooth throbbing. I felt no pain during the procedure, and was given thorough information. They kept checking to ensure I was comfortable. It was a complicated procedure but his confident quiet manner made me feel completely reassured. The receptionist and his assistant could not have been kinder. I am eternally grateful!
