Both Dr. Tominaga and her main nurse Erika are fantastic. She is a great physician, has always been right about illnesses (even when the whole pediatrics ER in UCD Sacramento couldn't figure it out) and I completely disagree with some of the comments below, her bedside manner is top notch. A

Dr. Tominaga has been our pediatrician for several years. She is knowledgeable and professional. She has provided excellent care for my asthmatic child with ADHD. I appreciate her and her staff. Great physician.

Dr. Tominaga's (very cold) staff told us we had to reschedule our 6mo old's well baby check up because we were 11 minutes late. When I requested that they ask Dr. Tominaga personally if she would see us, they left us to wait more than 20 minutes then came out and said she indeed would not see us. We decided to change doctors not only because of that bad experience but also because Dr. Tominaga is not warm and fuzzy like you'd expect a pediatrician to be. Whenever she'd come into the exam room she wouldn't so much as acknowledge our (adorable) baby girl but instead talk to us. She's strictly business. Does a perfunctory exam on the baby with no emotion and that's about it. She seems to be very educated and knowledgeable but her bedside manner (and mutual courtesy when it comes to her office's rigid late policy) could use a lot of work. She's not horrible but certainly not who we'll continue using for our pediatrician. Her colleague, Dr. Siemens on the other hand is wonderful.

Both of my kids have always seen her and I completely trust her. She has always been right about what was going on with health issues, as confirmed by the numerous specialists we've seen. She's not shy on pulling in resources, such as specialists or extra tests. Her nurse, Erika, is awesome, too - very responsive and accomodating when there is an urgent issue. It is inconvenient that she only works 3 days/week, but well worth it (and there are two other docs that fill in for her that are very good too). She has proven herself as patient, knowledgable, and trustworthy to us many times over.

I had her as a asthmatic, disabled, autistic teen with PTSD issues from severe mishandling by other medical staff elsewhere in the past. She seemed exceptionally kind and trustworthy, enough that I was able to cooperate when she had to administer steroid injections, start an IV, and hospitalize me for bronchitis. She also took the time to visit when I was in hospital a half-hour from her office, plus did a great job coordinating with my surgeon & specialists around the Bay Area. I'd suggest that if anyone's having problems with her, it's very likely the result of how things are run where she works -- you'd likely be surprised how bad the bureaucratic framework can be behind-the-scenes, and how little the actual doctors/nurses can do about it.

All talk no follow through, unless you bug her via messages, e-mails, nurses and other doctors. Only works part-time so very hard to get a hold of. Examinations are not through.
