I was a patient of hers for 21 years. She never wanted to acknowledge that I have PCOS despite diagnosis reports and supporting blood work from specialists (that I had to beg to see), she was not knowledgeable at all. During my first pregnancy I asked to be tested early for gestational diabetes since I have insulin resistance and PCOS. She told me she didn’t think I needed that because I was small?! (I was 70lbs overweight). She referred me to an OBGYN late in the pregnancy and they confirmed I had gestational diabetes and told me I should have been tested early due to my PCOS. She would fill out government and work forms incorrectly. After I found a new doctor I suppose it upset her because during my mother’s next visit she made her feel awful and shamed her and made her cry in her office. Her facilities are run down with old equipment (some not working half the time like her doppler). Wait times are anywhere from 1-2 hours. And don’t be fooled thinking it’s because she’s good, she overbooks for the money and takes extra social time with her Chinese patients. This is NOT the norm people, most practices you can wait 20-30 mins over your time tops. That’s been my experience elsewhere and you shouldn’t be made to feel like this is the standard (which she will tell you). Her staff are also so rude to the point that when I was younger I used to get nervous to call and make an appointment to begin with. Steer clear of this mess! She needs to retire.

It is so difficult reaching anyone. Does anyone answer the phone? Always says they are closed today or closed for lunch - lunch is over. I do not understand how anyone, no matter their profession, can allow this.

Dr. Yang and her staff are the best! You may have a bit of a wait, but you get your turn like everyone else. She doesnt rush or make you feel like a number. She will address all your questions respectfully and genuinely cares about people. Id rather wait a couple extra minutes and know that my doctor is actually listening and treating me like a person.

To the reviewer who is criticizing “whiners”, that is exactly what we did, switch doctors. Dr. Yang is unprofessional and not a very good doctor. Office is disorganized and incompetent. Wait time are unacceptable. Our new doctor doesn’t have the negativity that surrounds Dr. Yang on this site – that should be a strong indicator to people. Unfortunately for many, it is extremely difficult to find good physicians who are accepting new patients these days, especially for the elderly. It is obvious that Dr. Yang overbooks because she likes to bill.

she is an exceptional doctor, and like most doctors she is very busy with many many patients, I hate complainers, if you don't like the wait see another doctor.

Agree with most other comments - wait time is 60 minutes or more (very frustrating). I also find she spends more time with her Chinese patients (which is the reason she's so behind). While I find she can rush me at times, I have never left an appointment without discussing everything I needed to discuss. However, I do find she's quick to give her opinion and dismiss my suggestions. I also find she prescribes medication that may not be required - could be due to misunderstanding. Fortunately, I'm healthy, but I do feel if an issue arose, I would likely feel the need to obtain a second opinion.

I've been seeing Dr. Yang for thirty years, as have many of my extended family. She is a compassionate, caring doctor who takes a deep interest in her patients. She takes as long as she needs with each patient, which may mean longer wait times for those in the waiting room. This is good; I've been to doctors that were writing the prescription before they finished saying hello. Not her: Dr. Yang takes the time to thoroughly review your medical situation before making her diagnosis. We should be blessed with more family doctors like her.
Her receptionist staff are very helpful squeezing people into the doctor's overloaded schedule. Her heavy workload is a symptom of Ontario's shrinking system of family medicine and certainly not the fault of her or her staff; they are working hard to respond to patients' needs.
