Dr. Orkin is the best he explains everything to the T. I was transported to RUSH from Oswego due to a 3CM mass being found in my upper colon. The mass was bleeding and I was losing 2 units of blood a day. The Dr. and his entire staff visited me everyday up to the surgery reassuring me that this is what they train for and do everyday. The surgery was 10 hours and they kept updating my wife throughout. Dr. Orkin visited me during my recovery in the hospital and because he was instrumental he advised that I speak with an onocologist who has me in a premptive series of chemotherapy. Thank you to all the Staff at RUSH and especially Dr. Orkin~

This man saved my life with his expertise and knowledge after a 10cm tumor was found in my Colin. His staff was able to get me into his office quickly after my colonoscopy found the tumor. He sat me down and explained to me in great detail what needed to be done and how it would be done. He explained all the risks involved along with potential outcomes once they got in and had a look. But first things first as various tests and procedure needed to be ordered and completed before I was ready for surgery. Kathy from the staff set everything up and got us all cleared within a week with everything being done right at Rush hospital. Rush has a great system so once you put in all your medical records and insurance, all doctors can see your info and you don't have to re-due all the info for each new specialist and I saw and talked to many.

On day of surgery the staff at Rush along with Dr Orkin staff all came in to the pre-op and introduced themselves to my family and myself. Which was comforting to all involved. Surgery was 5hrs plus with 14 inches of my Colin being taken out and the remaining Colin being sewn back together. The key part here was removing the tumor in one piece so the cancer does not spread to your lymphoids . This is where Dr Orkin experience can only described as life saving. I thank you Dr Orkin as well as my family
