3 weeks appointment follow by 3 weeks follow-up appointment for treatment. In such a way Dr. Chan can bill OHIP , which is not good for the patient as treatment is delayed. The front-line service staff is extremely rude to patients in all ways which makes us sick. I believe Dr. Chan knows and admits his front-line staff giving patients hard time.

So disappointed, receptionists especially the girl named Celina was so rude, bad attitude, yelled at patient and hunged up when asked questions. Terrible service. Also, the office never picked up phone call, email them and took a few days to reply. It takes at least 3 to 4 weeks for an appointment. Can't believe Dr. Chan has hired this receptionist given her extremely rude attitude and yelling at patients, she should be fired.

Secretaries at Dr Chan’s clinic are disrespectful, unprofessional and condescending to patients. I believe her name is Celina (has an accent when speaking English). Her communication is poor when asked questions regarding requisition forms. But yet she has an attitude, when a patient is trying to get a clear understand of something. Horrible staff.

Dr. Benny Chan has been my mother's family doctor for over 20 years. He is a professional, experienced and compassionate doctor. However it is beyond my understanding how Dr. Chan would end up with such horrendous front desk "secretaries". Except 1 or 2 from the past, the current ones are mostly rude, uncaring and unprofessional. Besides booking appointments, talking down or rolling their eyes towards their clients, I doubt they even have much health knowledge. Indeed when you ask anything about the requisition forms, they would tell you to google it or read it yourself. They literally have no patience for their patients. It boggles my mind why they are hired for a client facing job in a healthcare environment while they appear to detest their clients. These clients are there because they are sick. They are not at Dr. Chan's clinic to be mistreated by the secretaries from hell. The latest "secretary" of Dr. Chan is the worst so far. She treats her clients like they are nuisances to her. Sitting in the waiting room for hours waiting for our appointment gives us the unwelcome privilege to listen to her complaints about the clients to her fellow secretaries from hell. A few times I tried to reason with her to advance an appointment (which is often 3 weeks away now), she would scoff at me and tell me to take my 90 years old mother to an emergency or a walk in clinic. She was totally unhelpful and uncaring. It also boggles my mind how we wait for an appointment for weeks and still have to wait hours in the waiting room. Do these secretaries even have the right skill set to manage Dr. Chan's schedule well? If not because my 90 years old mother cannot sit for hours at an emergency or a walk in clinic, I would have taken her there. I have been to many different hospitals at different times, I was and still am being treated professionally and kindly. I am hoping Dr. Chan will read this. Your current secretaries are a disgrace and they are a bad reflection of you and the healthcare industry. Please consider replacing your secretaries from hell with true professionals.

it's impossible to see the doctor in person. Even for any afebrile, NO respiratory related symptoms related disease, the office refuse to give you an in-person appointment since covid. Now that the community is almost back to pre-covid restriction, a healthcare profession still refuse to see his patients in person is just shifting his responsibility to emergency room, which we eventually had to do
the office staff is especially rude & not helpful. it's unbelievable this Scarborough medical office is still existing. a wastage of tax-payers' money.

My 88 years old father has been with Dr. Benny Chan for over 30 years. We had encountered countless number of unpleasant incidents dealing with the Dr office front desk but never one time cross my mind to leave a bad review.

However, this old lady wearing glasses at the front desk really get into my nerve.

1. This lady called last Friday saying she will email us the requisition form for my father’s ultrasound and blood works. We have been checking emails daily for the past couple of days and no email show up in either my inbox as well as junk mail. Nothing. We gave two emails addresses in case it got lost but nothing received in either one.

We called to follow up the following Wednesday to see what’s going on and this lady in her unbelievably rude tone tell me to check junk emails and tell me just to come pick it up in person. I originally said to pick up in person and she asked me not to come because they are too busy and said she will email to us. 5 days after the call, received nothing, got yell at for following up and told to come pickup the form in person. This is just getting a bit too ridiculous!!! When I’m there in person, not a single apology and never admit they didn’t even send it out. What a shame!

2. When I get the form in person, there is a word “Radiant” on the top left corner of the form. She again in her impatient tone say you have to go back there. I have no clue what she meant by “you have to go back there”. Of course I need to clarify what she meant. She didn’t even want to answer me and said “JUST GOOGLE IT YOURSELF!!!”. I have never deal with reception lady soooo unprofessional in my life!!! Omg!

4. My father haven’t seen Dr. Chan in person since 2019 because it’s close to impossible to get through the line and get in touch with anyone in the office. I can totally understand that when Covid first started back in the early days of the pandemic. Too many unknowns. 2 years after, still cannot see dr in person. Still No physically check up until next year.

Just need to air it out. Just so disappointed beyond words can describe. If she’s seeing this review, I wish she will give a little respect to her occupation, put in a little more effort on her work and give out basic courtesy for Dr. Chan’s patients .

De Chan is great. His staff is rude like hell. Wait time is usually longer comparing with other doctors. Patients have to wait outside the door which is a pathetic arrangement .

Dr Benny Chan is a knowledgeable and professional physician who tries his best to provide good care to his patients. The problem lies in his clerical staff who at times are chaotic and seemingly rude towards patients. Things have improved since the dismissal of the unprofessional, rude and nasty snob clerical staff from Taiwan who negatively impacted Dr Chan's medical practice for so many years. So happy she is no longer there. 🙂
