I was referred to Dr. Akingbola because I had a large fibroid in my uterus. His first suggestion, after I'd had a biopsy that came back clear, was to have a hysterectomy as well as remove my ovaries. I asked him why he would take my ovaries and he said "so you'll never have to worry about getting ovarian cancer". I told him I had neither a history of breast cancer nor ovarian cancer on my maternal side. He said it would just be easier. For who?? Definitely not for me because it would have thrown me into immediate menopause and I would need HRT. I argued with him that I was partial to my lady parts and wanted to keep my ovaries if they were healthy. He talked down to me like I had no idea what I was saying. I asked my family doctor for a referral to a new OBGYN and I asked him what his stance was on removing my ovaries. He said if they are healthy and viable why would I take them out. I went with my new doctor and he gave me a TAH in April. He said my ovaries were beautiful and healthy and no need to remove them. I think Dr. Okingbola needs to understand that women enjoy feeling like women, and that he should listen with respect when a woman voices her concerns.
I have nothing but positive things to say about the care I have received from Dr. Akingbola. He took me on as a patient with my second pregnancy which ended up being identical twins. After my 18 week Ultrasound showed markers for Twin to twin transfusion, Dr.Akingbola was quick to refer me to the high risk prenatal program at Mount Sinai. My twins were very high risk. Because of his knowledge, experience and expertise...I delivered twin girls! I recently needed a cystocele repair as well as some reconstructive surgery and repairs after 2 pregancies. Dr. Akingbola did an excellent job...I am very happy with the recovery and outcome and highly recommend him.
I went to Dr.Akingbola after I had already seen 3 OBGYN's. Wasn't to happy with his bed side manner. I'd had a hysterectomy before and was having some bleeding still off and on, he fluffed it off as it'll go away. A cyst was found before I went to him and the 3rd ultra sound he said it had disappeared. Well a year later and another ultra sound by my family Dr showed it to be still there. When I went back this time, if I hadn't of said I was worried about a cancer scare, and honestly today who isn't scared about that, Dr.Akingbola wouldn't have done anything. Just would of fluffed me off again.
I have seen Dr. Akingbola for all 3 of my pregnancies and have referred him to multiple people! He is incredibly knowledgable and always willing to answer questions. He referred me to both a Pediatrician and a Pediatrician cardiologist during two of my pregnancies when there was concerns about my baby's health. He is a very caring doctor who made the effort to come and visit me after all my babies were born even though he was not the doctor who delivered (this is hospital policy and has nothing to do with doctor). We're pretty sure we are done having children but if I did have a fourth, I would return without hesitation!
Dr. Akingbola was amazing with me! He spent time answering my questions every appointment. I was induced when we was the doctor on call and I'm so glad it was him. I had to have an emergency c section but he kept me calm and checked on me the following day. I highly recommend him !
I was referred to Dr. Akingbola two years ago due to ongoing bleeding issue and irregular pap smear, he found the problem right away and recommended surgery. He performed the surgery at Lakeridge and saved me from potential cervical cancer. I am grateful to be recommended to this obgyn after so many years of suffering and seeing different doctors who couldn't figure out the problem, as a single woman i found him to be helpful, answered my questions, took time to explain things to me, showed me test results and explained them in an understandable way.
I highly recommend him whether you are pregnant or not pregnant, he understands the female body.
Not a fan. I found a lump on my cervix and when I went in to my appointment I had for a pap I mentioned it. He laughed in my face and said “how do you know… you been feeling”. I said yes, actually I had, as a friend was just diagnosed with cervical cancer. Then him and the receptionist both watched footage of video of my cervix… I guess to ‘show’ me it was fine. The whole thing left a really bad taste in my mouth. Switched OBs after that appointment.
