I have found Dr. Lee's staff, nurses Corey and Scott to be extremely helpful. Dr. Lee himself is also extremely helpful when you get to talk to him face to face. No, he's never punctual for appointments. I have waited an hour every time I've seen him. I made a request for Dr. Lee to contact my pain specialist to discuss current complications I am experiencing two and a half months ago. After multiple phone calls back and forth to his nursing staff, I have determined that Dr. Lee has no care or concern for me as a human being. I am in excruciating pain and all I need from him is to pick up the phone and connect with my pain doc so that I can get adequate medication to help me through a rough spot (adhesion)and he can't be bothered to make the call. This doctor may be cutting edge and on top of most recent technology, but if you can't get in to see him, can't get scheduled for procedures and he could care less about you as a person, what's the value in his knowledge?
I started with Dr. Lee in crisis mode and was scared about the future. Dr. Lee spent a while explaining treatment, but it felt somewhat patronizing. somewhat arrogant. I have waited for over 1 hour a few times. Nurse Corey said that this might not be the best clinic for me b/c they were busy with over 2000 patients and often delay returning phone calls, hard to get seen. I faxed a page to them listing ongoing symptoms, am I in a flare while on Humira and some relevant background information only to be scolded never to do that again, and then was given conflicting and confusing information about my symptoms and was told I was making it harder than it had to be. I showed the fax to another specialist and she couldn't believe that Dr. Lee had read my fax. Do the nurses just call back and use their hunches (limited knowledge) save the almighty Dr. from dealing with pesky phone calls. If they are so busy why don't they hire more nurses. why do scopes on non IBD patients?
I wish I could rate specific staff on here. Keep in mind if you do end up working with Dr. Lee for your care, he has some wonderful nurses and assistants and one downright terrible one. Dr. Lee himself is an amazing doctor and I've gotten wonderful treatment so far by him, so it's a huge plus. The amazing downfall he has is in Cory Cullinan. She is terrible. So bad that I've even ended up in the ER because she's dragged her feet, or gets spacey and forgets, I have no idea what her problem is. She's failed to call me back like she's promised to do, sometimes doing it DAYS later. Not just the next day, I'm talking several days. One instance I left SEVEN messages simply asking for the time of an appointment and she didn't call back until I left a long message at the desk directly asking a different nurse to call me and he did. In less than ten minutes. And after an entire day of supposedly "never seeing him" (according to Corey) somehow the other nurse just walked up (cont in next review)
Extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Very busy and initially hard to get an appointment but at my 1st visit spent well over 60 min of a 45 min appointement. In addition after his visit his staff spent another 20-30 min arranging my tests and discussing my condition. His staff were amazing. The only complaint is how busy his clinic is which is understandable. He gave me more info than any of the other MDs I had previously visited. If you have IBD this clinic is the one you need to at least be seen once in.
This MD told me that "crohns disease"is what he is looking for. I wonder how many of his patients didnt have it and he treated them with all kinds of meds, and some very expensive. Crohns is all he is looking for. Find someone who will spend the time to find out what is really wrong. And I agree his nurse Cory should be fired!!
Dr. Scott Lee is one of the most premier Crohn's Disease specalists in the United States. Dr. Lee is very knowledgable in regards to all treatment options new and existing. Dr. Lee has an excellent bed side manor and has an honest and caring attitude towards his patients. Dr Lee is honestly one of the best Gastrointestionalists in the United States.
They also made me sicker than I was when I started there. By the time I figured out what poor care I was getting he had tried me on every medication and research he could come up with. As for the nurse, she needs to be fired! She is worthless and the only thing she ever did was keep access to Dr Lee to only those selected by her or by him.
Insurance=other Dr. Lee works in a teaching hospital and as such his availability is extraordinarily limited. I have no idea how anyone got in on a short notice or how anyone can think Cory is helpful. My treatment consisted of an appt scheduled 3 mos out, exam, blood tests, treatment plan & come back in 3 mos to repeat the whole procedure. In a year's time & TWO colonoscopies, we could not come up with an effective treatment. Cory caused many problems. Required 4-5 calls to her to get a script. Once I stood & waited after a procedure for written instructions to take with me to continue my treatment overseas, over the period of nearly 45 minutes she asked me 5 times what I was waiting for before she finally brought me the information I needed to continue my treatment. Research is clearly their priority, that is the nature of a teaching hospital. I go to Dr. Lee if he were in private practice without Cory. He needs more time for his patients then he would easily be a 5.
I wish I could say that he helped me, but I actually believe he made me sicker than I was when I started there. His nurse on a few occations gave me incorrect medications, and I felt that my care was not given the proper attention it deserved because he seems to have to many patients.
