Dr. Toomey replaced both of knees - my first almost 5 years ago and my second knee in Feb 2013. He and his nurse Bonnie, are top notch. They know what they're doing and I have had good results. He is not only good but also has a good sense of humor - something not always found with surgeons! Knee replacement is a tough surgery but worth it in the end - just make sure you pick a good surgeon like Dr. Toomey!
My total knee replacement was done on Sept 4, 2012, (which Dr.Toomey let me watch!). He and his entire staff gave me excellent care. I needed special attention as I have 3 autoimmune diseases including refractory Celiac disease. I was back teaching my belly dance class 15 days post surgery and doing a full performance 6 weeks out. I am very pleased with the entire experience. Dr.Toomey will replace my other knee in April. I am a very happy, grateful 75 yr. old ballroom/folk dance teacher. To compare, my friend had her knee replaced here in our small local hospital in Aug. She left with a MRSA infection, spent 1 month in a nursing home, now has a crooked leg, needs another surgery to straighten it and needs a cane! Go to the best - call Dr. Sean Toomey at Swedish Orthopedic.
I had a total knee replacement in September. I have a metal allergy, and Dr. Toomey worked with me to install the perfect knee (nickle-free). I was in-hospital for 2 1/2 days. Dr. Toomey, his Nurse, Bonnie Bicket, and his PAC James McPherson, all came to talk with me at discharge. While I anticipated going into a rehab for at least a week, I was discharged to home not a rehab facility. I was progressing so well, that I was assured my recovery would continue with home physical therapy for a couple of weeks, and then local physical therapy. On discharge from PT, my flex range was 138. My extension was 100%. Friends who did not have an allergy to metal, who had knees replaced in the same time range, each had significantly more problems, and now 4 months later are not recouping as well as I. I can stand for long periods of time, walk my dog for miles, ride a bike, navigate stairs, and am pain free. I endorse this excellent team completely, and am grateful.
My PCP of 12 years insisted that I had my total hip replacement done by this doctor. From my first contact with Dr. Toomey's offices at Seattle Swedish Orthopedic Institute, I knew I was putting myself in the right hands for the major surgery I needed. Dr. Toomey & his staff, nurse Bonnie Bicket and P.A. Jim, gave me the highest level of personal care & services. I am 63 years old and the arthritic deterioration in my hip was advanced - I could not walk without a lot of pain. 9 weeks after my surgery, I was walking without a cane. Because of the excellent post-op care provided by Dr. Toomey and his staff (and my wonderful physical therapists), people cannot believe I had this operation just 4 months ago. I am in better shape than I have been in for years. I would highly recommend anyone facing this type of surgery to contact Dr. Sean Toomey for your surgery. You will get the results you need and want. There is no question about why Dr. Toomey has such a superior reputation.
