A Reproductive Endocrinologist practices the medical specialty of reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) which is a sub-specialty of obstetrics and gynecology.  They specialize in reproductive hormone function, treating patients who are experiencing infertility as well as providing care for other hormonal dysfunctions that affect females and males.

Reproductive Endocrinologists complete education in Obstetrics and Gynecology before undergoing specialty training to become a practitioner of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Reproductive medicine and infertility treatment can include the use of a selection of methods to help women who have been unable to conceive naturally to become pregnant.

Treatments provided by Reproductive Endocrinologists include in-vitro fertilization (IVF,) artificial insemination, hormones, and fertility drugs. Another important role within the field of reproductive endocrinology is Cytotechnologists who are trained to perform IVF and other microscopic procedures.

Disorders and conditions treated by and specialized in by Reproductive Endocrinologists include Polycystic ovarian syndrome, Endometriosis, Tubal factor infertility, Male factor infertility, and other disorders of the female reproductive tract.
