My Rant for the Day

damagedgoods's picture

I had to go into downtown today. I saw tents set up by the train tracks in trees, under bridges and behind abandoned buildings. I have no idea who these people are or what they do during the day. Just a very sad situation that people are living like that in our country.

I agree with you. We manage

I agree with you. We manage an apartment building and there are people that try and sleep in the dumpsters and in the parkade. We had a vehicle's windows broken and then they tried to wrap the openings with some sort of plastic wrap. I don't get it. It is very sad indeed.

Ah well, they are God

Ah well, they are God cursed, if they had been better people, they would be living inside.
That is why Godly people shun them.
That they dispose of themselves in dumpsters.... kind of honorable of throwaway people, to not litter, really.

You need to visit Washington

You need to visit Washington DC sometime. It's been a couple of years since I've been there but they have a huge homeless population that camps out over the sewage drains that have the hot water flowing through them. They produce hot steam and keep those homeless people warm at night. Sad indeed.

Product,
Two Christmases ago, I was in DC. It was extremely cold for DC, and I saw a homeless man who had died of exposure and had to report it to an authority. I don't know how long he had been there in that very busy area, but people had ignored him. It still makes me cry when I am thinking about it.

I don't know the answer, but it has to exist.

Jeeez Blake your a bit harsh

Jeeez Blake your a bit harsh with your comment, a " Godly person" wouldn't be likely to judge at all, lest he be judged. In this economy no one is exempt. the cause of being without a place to call home is unknown to all.
I'm not a Bad person, but i came darn close to loosing everything i have worked for due to medical bills.

Hi Teri - You don't come

Hi Teri - You don't come around nearly often enough! Smiling

Have you met Blake? http://www.ratemds.com/social/?q=node/39957

Sorry that you came close to losing everything Teri; hopefully your lawyers and the medical experts made some money on your case, because that's what it's really all about, isn't it? Puzzled You know that they have bills to pay. Yachts aren't cheap.

yes it is very sad to see

yes it is very sad to see this kind of thinng to see. I see this all the time. we live near LAS VEGAS,NV. they are all over even outside multimillion dollar hotels/casinos. people come here and waste thousands of dollars gambling but none would think of giving a homeless person a buck for a sandwich. HOW SAD.

It looks like another

It looks like another extension for unemployment was granted this morning with a whopping vote in favor. I need to read the details.

You haven't seen the supposedly homeless panhandlers on freeway off ramps or in street corners. After a day of working the public they are counting their money which is more than you or I make in a month. I have seen them in wheel chairs with a cast either on their arm or leg. When they are done for the day they carry the equipment to their car and count their loot. One of our city councilman offered a panhandler a job at 7-ll and the homeless guy said he made more money in the street than working for a measly $7.00 an hour. It makes it hard for those who truly need the hand out. But then there are social services willing to help but a lot of homeless don't want their charity. they's rather live free of rules and regulations.

If this does not make you

If this does not make you cry, nothing will. I saw a guy I saw every day when I worked in down town a couple of years ago. I'm assuming things because at one time I did try to get into PT. They did not even take me for volunteer work at that time. Too much of a waiting list. We had to do three specialites to make sure we wanted that. My first was for sports meds. I got into that with no problem. My second choice was for burn victims. They had too many volunteers already. There was a waiting list. My guess for this guy is, and it is good news is, this guy was so deformed. He had to be a burn victim and maybe a VA vet. Sitting in the streets begging. No legs and severly deformed on the rest. What I did see, and I know it was him, he was in a motorized wheel chair now buying a hot dog from a vendor. I am not joking. I would not joke about something like that. I guess Obama does do some things right.
