Rating Feedback for Dr. Doherty (942941)

'Moved twice in Calgary too. May seem friendly at first, but wait till you disagree on treatment plan. Cut one of my medications in 1/2 despite letter from specialist saying not to, then told me he would be censured by Acps if he precribed at minimal dose. Acps tells me otherwise. Wants to decrease another med I been on for long time by 1/2, not understanding how this will affect my fibromyalgia for the worse. Omitted to renew my thyroid med, which I need to live! Hasn't done much in 4 months about extreme diahhrea and weight loss. I am under stress and my Dr is stressing me out! Done with Doherty, need a new Dr. Also, makes you wait for over an hour each appt! New phone line didn't work for a week! Missing computer records! Very Poor.'

I'm fairly certain you would have been informed that Dr.Doherty's location at 17th and 33rd was only temporary. That is the whole purpose of that clinic, to recruit doctors from out of town, build them a practice, and then put them in a permanent location with their new patients. I was glad to see that he had only moved a few minutes away because I was warned that he could move anywhere within the city. I agree his appointments are rarely on time but that's because he spends so much time with each of his patients because he actually cares...that's a quality you won't find in many doctors who are actually accepting patients at the moment.

Our doctor which we've had
Our doctor which we've had for almost 40 years took ill and is no longer able to practice medication. We have been searching for another family physician for a long while and each one gets worse than the one before but Dr. Doherty is about one of the better ones so far. He does take his time with you and the waiting period in the reception area is about the same no matter where you go. Our medical care in Calgary is certainly gone down hill from what I remember it as a young person - I was born and raised in Calgary over 65 years ago and have seen a lot of not so good changes - and this does include our health care. You cannot find a good/knowledgeable/patient/caring physician anywhere in the city....we've tried believe you me.
