Incredible hospital with professional caring staff. I had aortic valve replacement surgery and kidney cancer surgery there. And I'm still here to talk about it. :)

This hospital is unresponsive to request for full records, believe they are sanitized before providing them to reduce risk of liability. I dealt with a well credentialed surgeon, who set his and staff's primary priority on financial basis, not patient care! Out come was a disaster as well as not suppling every document with my name attached to it. With the number of well reputed hospital in the NYC area please consider choosing another one. I certainly wish I had chosen different surgeon as well as hospital.

I was in hospital for extensive spine surgery. My in-patient stay was supposed to be 3 days it lasted nearly 3 wks due to complications. The medical part of the facility was clean, nurses responded to my needs in timely fashion. Once I was moved to the rehab. dept.this was another story. My bathroom was not cleaned, at least the toilet for over a week. for the most part my PT and OT were more interested in selling me product to take home than in individualizing an appropraite program for me.The doctor in chatge of my care in rehab was outstanding and caring, the support staff was a great deal less than that. As I come from a distance away and no 24/7 advocate there I found the staff more responsive to patients who had this sort of advocacy. These advocates were allowed to even interupt my care. The loader they were the more attention they and family members received.

I have had Gallbladder surgery and c-section at this hospital. All of my doctors are affiliated with Mt. Sinai too. I have nothing but good things to say. The nurses and doctors during both hospitalizations were wonderful. Especially the nurses in Labor and Delivery and the Maternity ward. They were so sweet and compassionate. I was even sad to go home when I was discharged. I never had a rude nurse or doctor. I will be giving birth to my second child next month and am looking forward to having the relief of knowing I will be very well taken care of while staying here.

The people on the 2d & 3d shift are lousy. They have chips on their shoulders, have nasty & negative attitudes. They project this on you, the oatient. You don't like your duties, go home! And don't come back. You wait at least half an hour before an answer. They don't bother to check on you through the intercom, even, when your ring the call button. The attention light is there for all to see but they ALL have blinders. Your even hear them outside your door. But, no, no ones cares about WHY you rang. There's not excuse given the proximity to the nurse's station & the fact that you hear the staff outside your door. Then, your also hear them making fun of patient (s) calling out from down the hall. In my case, I hear "the only one" in response to my ringing the call button. Utterly disgusting. What a disgrace to the hospital! The people in charge of your recovery need more in-service training, customer service skills & show a lot more empathy. Leave the baggage at home.
