Dr asmiss was treating my mother Linda for liver tumours for almost 2 decades. towards the end the tumours started to get the better of her. Dr Asmis told my mom about a potential peptide treatment that could potentially extend her life. the condition was that my mom had to be up and walking. my mom was in and out of the hospital many times, but it was only in her last weeks that she was bedbound. because dr. asmis dragged his feet debating whether or not my mother was worth extra time, we lost her. if ultimately he had decided the treatment wouldn't have made much difference, i would have appreciated a direct call. after decades of treatming my mother, eh didn't have the respect or time to be bothered to cal us and talk to us directly. I appreciate that my mother was older, and that the price of these treatments are high. i know to someone like Dr. Asmis and extra few weeks to months may not seem cost effective, but that time would have been precious to us. it could have been the difference between my mother watching me graduate in a few months, my brother achieving some long term goals in the next few months. the lack of respect and care at the end was utterly astounding. there are a lot of wonderful staff at this hospital, but dr. asmis end of life compassion and bedside manner is frankly embarrassing for him. a complete and total lack of emotional intelligence and common decency. my mother died sad and thinking she had failed to meet a standard, and that was directly because of dr asmiss un-dignified behaviour as a practitioner. i would say that i hope he does some soul searching, but considering he's been in this profession this long, i think hes reached the peak of his emotional development, which is unfortunate for those who have to interact with him.

I would like to take this time to express my sincere appreciation and Gratitude, to the doctors. nurses, PSWs, and all other staff, at the Ottawa General Hospital, for the care and compassion provided to me during my four weeks stay at the General Hospital. I particularly I would like to thank Dr. Abdelbary, and his team of doctors, for their dedication and skill during my surgery. I would especially like to thank Dr. Cormier, and his team of doctors from Plastics, for their Surgical skill, and their continual care following my additional surgery. You are all amazing. I would also like to thank the entire nursing, and PSW staff, as well as all others, on 7th floor West for their compassion, and dedication to duty during my stay. You are all angels, and I can never thank you enough. A Heartfelt Thank You Robert LeBlanc Almonte ON.

I went to the Ottawa General Hospital ER because I was in severe, escalating dental pain and genuinely frightened. I had already been through days of agony, sleepless nights, and a traumatic dental experience that left me physically and emotionally depleted. By the time I arrived at the ER, I wasn’t just in pain — I was overwhelmed, scared, and trying to hold myself together long enough to get help. I walked in hoping for compassion, clarity, and basic medical care. Instead, I was met with dismissal and indifference. From the moment I tried to explain what was happening, I felt like I wasn’t being heard. I was treated as though I was exaggerating, as though my pain wasn’t real, as though I was somehow inconveniencing the staff by needing help. I was spoken to in a tone that made me feel small and judged, not like a patient in crisis. I was already exhausted from days of pain and fear. I had been trying to manage symptoms on my own, trying to stay calm for my family, trying to make sense of what was happening to my body. By the time I reached the ER, I was at my limit. And instead of being met with empathy, I was made to feel like I didn’t belong there. There is a particular kind of terror that comes from being in medical crisis and realizing the people who are supposed to help you… aren’t going to. I felt that in the ER. I felt invisible. I felt like I had to justify my own suffering. I felt like I was being treated as a nuisance rather than a human being in pain. At one point, I was seeing double and feeling weak since I had not eaten in almost a weak due to all of this. I told them this, asked if they could help me get to the room since it was hard for me to see and walk. I was told to "Just keep walking" and was made to try to follow a nurse, moving very quickly, to a room. No patient should be made to walk down halls with double vision, feeling so weak they can barely stand, and coming in and out of consciousness due to pain. It was unacceptable. I returned 3 times within a week seeking medical care and was provided none. During my last visit on Sunday, December 21, the doctor asked me "What do you want us to do for you?" as if I was supposed to diagnose myself and then tell them how to treat me. My body was in full shock, my brain was no longer working and I was in severe distress. But all they saw on my chart was that I was diagnosed with Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder so I didn't deserve care, must have been overexaggerating, must just be a hysterical woman, etc...and it was unacceptable. This experience shook my trust in a system that is supposed to protect people. It made me afraid to seek help again. It added emotional harm on top of physical suffering, and that is something no patient should ever have to endure. I deserved better. Everyone does. Even if I had been a "drug addict" or a "homeless person" or even a hysterical woman with CPTSD who was making up her pain, I should have STILL been treated with dignity, respect and taken seriously. It is very apparent to me this hospital treats patients based on WHO THEY ARE instead of WHAT THEY NEED TO GET BETTER. Do not go here, unless you want to pass away in a hospital with doctors and nurses looking down at you going, "Well we just didn't know how to treat them because they wouldn't diagnose themselves and tell us!" I fear for anyone who comes here after an accident, in severe pain, body in shock who is unconscious. They wouldn't get treated. I wrote to everyone to file a complaint. It has been several days and nobody has got back to me. There is no way to actually complain about hospitals, doctors, or services here where it actually matters. We just have to deal with whatever healthcare is provided to us and that is no longer okay. I will be writing about this publicly much more and will be ensuring SOMEONE takes my story seriously. This can NOT happen to another person.......this hospital is not saving lives and it needs to be reported NOW!

I was thinking of giving a positive review for the general after both nurses and paramedics served me but the doctor that attended me after being there for 5 hrs was hostile, argumentative, mean, unsympathetic. I've had my condition for 30 yrs and had both good and bad experiences with the medical profession and when its bad its because they don't believe understand my condition, my pain. what do we do? go to hospital? don't go to hospital?

A radiologist cancelled my ultrasound appointment an hour before my test and refused to reschedule it or explain why the test was cancelled to begin with. I was the only person that had their test cancelled on that day. I waited seven months for that ultrasound appointment and had a requisite to have it done. The people that I dealt with (except for one) were rude, dismissive, and disrespectful. I spent hours on the phone the next day trying to understand why my test was cancelled and all I got was two departments throwing each other under the bus to deflect blame and responsibility. The worst person that I spoke to was someone from management who was dismissive right from the start and spent a total of two minutes on the phone with me gaslighting my experience and trying to rush me off the phone. I wonder if they have done this before to other patients. If yes, what were the demographics (sex, race, gender, ethnicity, disabilities) of those patients and did that affect the services that they got (or did not get like in my case)? I am going to escalate the issue, but save yourself the headache and just go to Montfort Hospital (713 Montreal Rd) for complete and comprehensive care.

Compared to the Queensway Carleton hospital mishap, I went straight to the general hospital by taxi *which the only good thing about the Queensway Carleton hospital had done that terrible day was cover the cost for my taxi ride to the general* Upon arrival to the general compared to the Queensway Carleton hospital was night and day. The general hospital staff were extremely kind and empathetic. Treated me with pain meds that actually helped a bit along with anti nausea medication. They even explained kindly that they couldn't do anything else at the moment due to the tests not showing what's wrong. I thanked them for all their kindness for the situation I was in, and still even to this day I would say if you believe in heaven the general hospital would be exactly that in the way they've treated me. For future reference: Queensway Carleton hospital definitely needs to have been shut down ages ago. Please if you value your health, safety and well-being please go to the general hospital 🥰

I was taken to the General Hospital in April for kidney failure due to too much blood pressure medication ordered by Dr. Menjarva in March at the Montfort. In Emergency 2 nurses worked all day with me to help me get better., They were able to reduce my potassium level back to normal. They helped to save my life. On the 7th floor Dr. Knoll and Dr. Harris(Nephrology)were excellent. They said that it was too many blood pills that caused my diagnosis. The nurses and their assistant head nurse manager gave excellent care. The food was very good. The place was very clean. The pharmacist and all other staff were pleasant and efficient. I should know because I trained for 3 years at the Civic and worked there for 26 years. It is an excellent hospital. I missed it when I retired. I would recommend the Ottawa Hospital, both campuses to anyone who is ill. I worked all over the hospital and I enjoyed every ward.

Dirty. Generally poor attitude among the nurses, even the good know the place sucks. When patients are crying for help nurse should not be busy watching Tik-Tok. Too many mistakes made too often. Teaching nurses instructing student nurse procedures incorrectly. Yes, it is bad.

Ok this should be a good read. SO I went here to the ER for severe suicidal ideation. I needed up being admitted for one night. I had to stay in a closed area on the main floor all night bc there were no beds yet. I get brought up in a wheelchair by security guards who were completely fine. THEN what happened next was the whole issue. I had the misfortune of having ANDREEA GHEORGHE assigned to me as a psychiatrist. I dont see a point in rewriting it all bc believe me, I have had to write out what happened several times: I reported her to the CPSO, patient relations, ministry of health. What happened was beyond unacceptable. Later on, I leave my review for her on her rate MD page, like the one under her name. Then months later, my CPSO report is being investigated, and she is contacted by the CPSO for the investigation. I randomly go to her rate md page, my review is gone. And ten 5 star reviews are posted on the same day and days apart, raving about her as a doctor. This 40+ year old woman left reviews about herself. She got contacted by the CPSO, realized what was happening, went and found her rate md page, and began leaving reviews about herself. I put my negative review back up. Days later it is gone. All negative reviews were removed. She flags the negative reviews and they get removed. Long story short, she is sick, a sad excuse for a human, a disgrace to the mental health field, and clearly severely struggling and lacking in life if she felt the need, as a 40 year old woman, to go and leave reviews about herself on her own rate md page. Must have really gotten to her if keeps going to her own rate md page and legit monitors it. That is scary. I think her page might be gone now. Truly scary. Anyways, Karma exists. Oh ya, she got exposed on tiktok and reddit too.
