My neighbour is being treated appallingly in ICU. Staff are unhelpful and unfriendly! It's also worrying that he contracted bacterial infection while in ICU. Is a hospital not a place to get the best healing treatment in a safe caring environment? From so many bad reviews, it appears staff are not good at their job. Is it just about the money or about saving lives?

I was at the hospital Unit A . The front desk and reception were amazing. The nurses in the Ward do not know how to treat and talk to patients ....They need discipline/training on how to handle patience. I needed my chronic medication before going for surgery and instead of a solid discussion or talk they were arguing with me on not giving me the medication and having an attitude towards me. Finally the Dr. gave me the go ahead to take my Blood pressure meds pre-surgery...However even after the Dr. gave go ahead , once the Dr left the Ward the same nurse continnued arguing with me and having a bad attitude. As iI am regular Patience of this hospital I am horrified how the nurses at the Ward performed.

I was at the hospital emergency unit yesterday. The front desk and triaging were amazing. The actual nurses at the back for treating the patients need a little talking to. I requested that I have a couple of words with the doctor and of course totally ignored,. I am an ex nurse and am horrified how the nurses at the back performed. I guess it is the change of the times. God forbid what they will be like in 10 years time. Only time will tell.. message to the nurses, remember “ one day it could be you that is the patient.

Emergency nurses are too loud, it’s not a healing environment, it adds to anxiety when in pain or sick. Ultrasound technician was miserable and not friendly, I felt awkward and uncomfortable the whole time.

We unfortunately had to rush our 2 year old to Fourways Life when a fever she’d had for 3 days wouldn’t subside. The doctor on duty had a shockingly bad attitude. He gave limited information and didn’t even do a proper check up on my baby. I even tried to show him some physical symptoms and he just didn’t bother to check but rather continue to prescribe medication without getting the complete diagnosis. I had to force him to relook and questioned him like it was a criminal investigation just to make sure I had the correct information regarding my daughter’s diagnosis and treatment. I will never come back to this hospital again and I would not recommend it to anyone. They don’t seem to care about the patients there.

The service can be great but is mostly frustrating for a patient! I’ve waited 5 hours to get a drip out…a painfully installed one! It’s 9:30 am and I haven’t received breakfast, but I’m expected to take all my medicine with food before 7:30. I end up ordering Uber or going to the cafe most of the time - more money! No showers in the medical ward…how do you take a bath when you have just had surgery! No one to listen to your complaints as well…so…if I could go elsewhere I would!

The sad reality we have to accept it we made the mistake of putting my fathers life in this hospitals hands. We unfortunately lost him in January, due to a complete neglect. My father was left in the ER for 6 hours with no scans, no treatment or care… turned out he had a ruptured esophagus which you need to act within 6 hours in order to save it. It then was one critical miss to another and in the end, we found a rat in his isolated ICU ward. My dad had “the best team” on board, a “top” cardiologist who actually was the reason this all began, an absolutely shocking pulmonologist who also never did the right testing during prior consultations a cardio thoracic surgeon who failed at a huge procedure, in fact all of them and never bothered to check the drain sites which turned moldy and other “top” physicians. 4 months in this hospitals care and we are traumatized at the job that was done! People I urge you to stay away from this hospital, it is where you go to die.

I've never experienced such negligence from nursing staff, I ended up crying, due to how frustrated I was.

I rushed to Fourways Life Emergencies on 15/11/2022, as it was the closest emergency to my workplace. I had severe/crippling abdominal pains which on it's own is concerning, throw in there that I am 19 weeks pregnant it's even more concerning. Getting seen to was at least quick as the nurse taking the blood pressure ect, could see that I was in a lot of discomfort. They took my history while they took my sugar level and blood pressure. Took me to the back and had me give a urine sample and said the ER Dr would see me once i'm done. My attending ER Dr was Liselle Botha, who was lovely considering the restrictions she had to deal with. As soon as she started chatting to me she said the maternity staff are quite "protective" and I thought she meant my Gynie which I assured her wouldn't be a problem as my DR would only want what is best for me and the baby, she then said no she is referring to the Maternity staff at their hospital, as getting treatment for someone who isn't their patient has proven quite difficult in the past. I explained that I had initially had some concerns about possible leaking amniotic fluid so they returned with a swab test, saying it was quite difficult to get that as I am not a maternity patient there, upon opening it, the DR and the nurse both struggled with understanding how to administer this swab test as the instructions were in a different language so they tried to follow the picture instructions instead. The Dr administered the swab and I was quite vocal about it hurting a lot. She proceeded to do a quick internal check and said it is quite worrisome as "the tip of her finger went in where it's not meant to", the nurse then said "positive news is that its not a gaping hole as yet" referring to my cervix opening. The Dr said " you need to get admitted to your birthing hospital like as in yesterday already". And sent me on my way. At no time while I was there could they do a simple sonar to at least confirm whether my baby was in distress or in fact at least still alive. This is completely morally unacceptable to me, as my baby is a life, and my life could have been in danger as well, and at no point during my very short time there was there any effort to try and stabalise this situation or in fact confirm if there is a major life threatening situation. We left the consultation room traumatised and I was in tears, expecting the absolute worst thing possible has happened. Needless to say, after this horrendous treatment, there was no fail in sending me a bill for payment before I even reached the front door, and as you know emergencies is right by the entrance. Rest assured, I will treat this bill the same way I was treated when being attended to, with absolutely no care or urgency whatsoever or perhaps I should refuse payment the same way treatment was refused to me. I managed to find someone to help me at my birthing hospital and their findings were the complete opposite of that of the emergency Dr that had attended to me. There were no openings in my cervix whatsoever and I was definitely not having contractions. Needless to say, 2 days later I called the hospital to check whether they received any results from my urine sample and I was told my sample was disposed of and never tested. I will most definitely NEVER suggest this hospital to ANYONE.
