They treat people with mental illness terribly. And if you even so much as dare say you have stress or anxiety, they'll treat you like your crazy. It's disgusting. Kelowna has the WORST mental health help I've ever seen in my life. They treat you like dogs.

I was in this rathole for 10 days and could have died. Not one person checked on me in my room the whole weekend and when i had severe internal bleeding, the nurse suggested I just needed some gatorade. i am glad i survived this place.

I had a c section after a long hanus 37 hr labour The nurse that I had for my entire labour experience was the most uncaring unempathetic, unprofessional healthcare worker ever don't even know why a women like that can even hold a position as a nurse!!!!!!if anyone out there is planning on having a baby at KGH and is reading this...be aware of LIZ in the maternity ward (apparently u can ask for a new nurse if I would have only known!!!!) she was rude, grumpy, and meaner than a snake. The rest of the staff in the maternity were pretty good...I spend a week in the maternity ward and had some great experiences with most the staff...the cleaning staff were great! Def under appreciated !!!! But maternity ward was very over crowded...4 new moms to one room is awful!!!! And there should be strictor rules about visitations !!!

The Cleanliness was ok possible because of "all" the renovations. The Facility was unorganized. I reported my nurse for her behavior. I had nasal surgery and I couldn't, nor the nurse attending the patient beside me, get her to come over and help me. I bleed profusely and the helping nurse needed my own nurse to help. I wish I had got the nurse who wasn't my nurse's name. Thank you! I was appalled at her uncaring nonchalant attitude. I could have been left with a serious problem.

I was in Kelowna General for 2 days. I was extremely disappointed buy the experience. I was on the med/surg ward, and could not believe the uncleanliness: I was warned that c.difficile (infection) was going around, most of the toilets had urine on or around them, I witnessed an RN drop a glove on the floor, then pick it up and use it, an aide "wipe up" after a man had spilled over his catheter in the sun room but left behind 4 footprint tracks of the urine. I did not want to touch anything. There were 3 out of about 12 nurses that actually "cared" for the patients. If I can ever avoid going there, I will. Overall terrible experience.

The maternity ward in this hospital is horrible. Crowded, old and very cramped. I had to have a c-section and was put into a room with two other bubbly women who had vaginal, great births...they had visitors coming in all the time, cramming in the room. The nurses needed to speak up and take charge of how many visitors were in the room. At night some of the nurses would come in loudly, turn the bright lights on and talk loudly. I'm not saying all the nurses, but a few that should have known better. The mat ward needs a big overhaul and a change in visitor times and amounts.

I took my friend in emergency and the staff was wonderful. They treated him like he really mattered. The male nurse was wonderful and very helpful. I was very impressed at the service, of course we are use to the crappy service from northern health and this was a wonderful experience. He had to stay in the hospital for about 4 weeks and he said they were really good to him.

I have been to emergency more times than I can count due to cardiac problems. The nurses are horrible and I am a nurse myself and can't beleive how these nurses act. There are a few decent doctors.but a lot of them are egotistical and genuinely do not care. and don't dare say you have any kind of stress or anxiety cause.you will get labelled as a head case and shoved aside. Also I have a known arrhythmia and am told to wait whenever I go in. Hence it hasn't been easily diagnosed. I wouldn't trust these people with my life or my family. Too bad this is the only hospital emergency available in Kelowna ! Please continue to complain this hospital needs to change !

I have had two VERY unpleasant visits to this hospital's emergency room, once for me and once for my elderly mother. The volunteers are great, but the check in staff is rude and condescending, oh and they spend alot of time visiting with their co-workers when they should be helping people. I have been to emergency rooms in towns with a population of 3,000 and 10,000 and 20,000 to bit city hospitals (Vancouver & Victoria) and KGH's triage system is the worst ever. I went in with chest pains and stated "I think I am having a heart attack", I was told to take a seat and wait... really!? Thank goodness it was not a heart attack, but I'll think twice about going there again even if I really am having one. When I took my elderly mother to emergency with a "possible stroke or brain bleed from a fall", sent there by her doctor, we were kept waiting, anyhow not enough room here to continue, but my mother wants to leave Kelowna now just because of this hospital... HATE IT!!

They may have cleaned up the hospital but I have never seen a more uncaring group of professionals! The Dr I had was excellent BUT he always has been...the nurses were terrible, rude, never even gave me their name!!! I drive to Penticton when I need a hospital, bc I hate the thought of going into KGH and being treated like dirt. I do want to clarify I am only talking about the ER.
