i am a very sick senior who went to see this doctor to determine why i was so weak and exhausted. i was made to see the naturopath first, had to pay, then she booked a plethora of blood tests even though i already had blood tests done by my other doctor. she always had something to sell, books or gadgets, and i was forced to join groups, which she booked the government for and which were way overcrowded and more of a humilating and stressful situation then a cure. the groups were run very poorly and she acted very derogatory to some of the participents including myself yet she did not treat her good friends there as badly. i landed up up more sick and depressed at the end of it. including herself and many of her patients it was clear to see that there was dishonest going on. most were not really sick and she kew it. another docto even commented to me that she was acting immorally by giving incorrect diagnoses. i was put at the botton of her list and she delay my paperwork and appo

I haven't read all the reviews but let me say that though Dr. Bested was one of the most caring M.D.'s I've ever met, she really did not have anything to offer me despite the severity of my 'CFS', etc. I did not care for her naturopath, I felt it was nothing but a money-making attempt though I know her goal was to also have a 'complementary' approach and was very busy. There used to be a secretary there whose name I forget who had atrocious manners, you would think she owned the place. All in all Dr. B was not able to help me and.... guess what? I've been diagnosed with Lyme disease - had it all these years and not even ONE CFS doc thought 'beyond the box'. Took the U.S. test and now am headed in a completely different direction. 'CFS' is a dead-end. It's a constellation of symptoms. Can be from anything from thyroid, other clinical factors. I have no doubt she has helped many, just not me.

I just want to say that I wish I could have such a wonderful and caring Doctor, unfortunately she is no longer accepting paitents sad for the rest of us, I had an IME done by Dr. Bested and it was to last 3 hrs well it lasted almost 4.5 hrs., so that might make her late for next paitent but I deserve just as we all do the time needed to find out how to deal with our illness. Dr. Bested has even followed up with me after my blood results came back and although she is not my Doc, she gave me a list of vitamins that will maybe not cure me but will help and I will take any advice that might help me move and not feel so bad all the time. I wish she we were my Doc so bad and would give anything to have that happen! All you naysayers need to rethink what you wrote becasue it is wrong and yes having tons of blood work is essential to not only helping to find out what is wrong with you but to help decide on a course of action. Thank you Dr. Bested for all you have done for me Trisha Pedros

I waited for months for my appt. with Dr. Alison Bested who is the only doctor here treating ME/cfs. When I was close enough to the top of the list to get my call for an appt. I was told that, in order to be treated by Dr Bested, I would also have to see the Naturopath who works with her and who is not covered by OHIP. I explained that my illness was now, after 3 decades, disabling and that I lived on ODSP which means that I would struggle to find the bus fare to see her let alone a fee for a naturopath. They were unmoved - it is their policy, no exceptions. I find it appalling that the only doc. who treats an illness which drives so many of us into poverty has done an end run around OHIP! Just another ME indignity.

Today I met with Dr. Bested for my follow-up appt. This appointment was supposed to be 1 hour, but Dr. Bested wanted to ensure she explained everything to me and was so helpful in answering my and my girlfriends questions. My 1 hour appointment ended up being over 2 hours. I find Dr. Bested quite open and understanding. At no time did I feel that I did not have her full attention. I found Dr. Bested very compassionate and understanding. The knowledge that Dr. Bested shared with myself (while my girlfriend took notes) was unbelievable. I left Dr. Bested today a new person. I have a full understanding of what is happening to my body and a full understanding of the changes I must make to improve the quality of my life. The wealth of information I received today reduced my stress and anxiety quite a bit. I would highly recommend Dr. Bested. The only regret I have is that we cannot clone Dr. Bested, because we so need more doctors like her!. Patricia Jackson, Milton Ontario

care and knowledge shared and help given ouatstanding. She g ives so much to each patient whick explains difficulty of keeping to time. The extra time she has given to me over the years has held up many. The wait is worth it and we learn a lot exchanging stories in the waiting room.

she is a great doctor, because first and foremost, she acts like a human being. she also treats patients as equal human beings. no superiority here. she has chosen to be curious and become an expert in a field (ME/CFS and FM) that many other doctors will not even acknowledge exists. she knows how to listen, as this is how she learns. she has been my specialist for ten years. she can't cure me, but she understands me and i love her dearly.

Dr. Bested is a highly specialized doctor who has devoted herself to patients with chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and environmental toxins. She listens actively. Notwithstanding her specialties she is paid as if she was a GP because our government doesn't recognize the need for better care for patients with these sorts of disease. She is a wonderful doctor.

I'm not sure who the previous commenter saw but it can't have been Dr. Bested. She is an extremely knowledgeable, compassionate and down-to-earth physician.
