All gems in Manhattan are NOT in the "diamond district" of New York City !
There exists one at 485 Madison Ave. in the form of a world renowned urologic surgeon by the name of Dr. David Samadi. For a man, any man, who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, he owes it to himself not to accept anything or anyone less than Dr. Samadi. Not only is he a urologist, urologic surgeon, oncologist, but one of the world's authorities on robotic prostatectomy, having performed more than 6,000 of these procedures .One might say well, he is well trained and has much experience ! That's very true, but it doesn't stop there, not only was he involved years ago in perfecingt the technique, but actually modified it so as to enable post operative patients better maintain urinary control, as well as sparing nerves critical for sexual intimacy. Hold on, it gets better ! He spends time explaining EVERYTHING ! He exudes compassion and is truly down to earth ! Need I go on ? I could but enough about him,,,, let's talk about his staff. ALL of his staff, in office and in hospital, whether on the brand new urology patient wing at Lenox Hill, or the surgical staff in the surgical suite, I have never seen or experienced such world class patient care and pampering ! OK ! By now you're asking "just how much is Dr, Samadi paying me to say all of these things" ! Well the answer is he has already "paid" me by recently removing a cancerous gland from my body which was a threat to my very life, utilizing his world renowned surgical expertise and talents, as well as state of-the-art technology !
God bless you and your work Dr. Samadi and each and every one of your staff !

I am prefacing this review by saying any man that has an inclination that has prostate cancer should see Dr. Samadi & take his advice. Looking back in hindsight I will admit everything he told me was exactly true but I could not accept the notion of having surgery because of the many horror stories I heard about surgery. Being a man of 59 I felt I was still vital.
After learning from Dr. Samadi's painless biopsy that I had cancer in July of 2014 I saw him 2 weeks after that so I could gather questions. During the next 5 months I waivered back & forth on what to do: surgery or radiation or nothing. I researched the different forms of radiation. I also consulted a surgeon at Sloane Kettering Hospital who then gave me a second biopsy. I spoke to a friend who had gone through the traditional 45 radiation treatments & had rectal bleeding the whole time. I spoke to another man that had radiation along with hormonal therapy & had the same symptoms of female menopause: sweating, chills, hot flashes for a year. I originally thought radiation was the less invasive procedure but then found the possible side effects of incontinence and impotence could be the same. There is also a 5% chance of getting rectal or kidney cancer from the radiation treatments.
I heard the horror stories from 2 friends that had surgery by other doctors. It wasn't until I spoke to the author of a book explaining his experience with Dr. Samadi, that I heard a wonderful success story.
In late December, I saw Dr. Samadi a 3rd time &I made the best decision of my life. Because of waiting from July to December I was not admitting I had cancer or what it could do to me. I should have because my father had gotten prostate cancer at age 60, received the traditional 45 radiation treatments & died 15 years later of lung cancer due to it metastisizing. Dr. Samadi now sternly educated me on the severity of prostate cancer. He made me see the reality that because of his Smart method surgery, I would not be a terrible statistic like men I knew.
From the time I entered the special Dr. Samadi-5th floor of Lennox Hill Hospital I was propelled into a hospital experience that was like no other. Having 3 surgeries, I was very familiar with hospitals. Dr. Samadi's special wing looked like a 5 star hotel with each private room & its amenities. From the amazing staff to the confident and pleasant nurses to the gourmet meals that any of my guests could order, to the feeling of well being that everyone perpetuated. This wasn't a hospital it was more like a vacation in a fine resort.
I had seen Dr. Samadi right before I walked into the operating room which gave me some additional confidence that everything would be ok. After surgery I never took a pain killer all the time I was there. Dr. Samadi visited me later that day to say everything went well and he was pleased. I was surprised to learn I could actually cope with my recuperation & once the catheter was out after 7 days I was improving. I only took Tylenol for 2 days. After 7 days I learned I did not have to do any remedial radiation & the pathology report was very good. An alarming surprise was the report told me my prostate was 50% full of cancer which Dr. Samadi did advise, there is usually more cancer in the prostate than what is shown from a biopsy. It hadn't spread to other places. I thought, what was traditional 45 treatment radiation going to do for me with such a high percentage of cancer in the prostate if I did not choose the surgery? I knew I made the right choice.

My wife researched all surgeons and oncologic urologists in the world. She steered me to Dr. Samadi (whom I knew from my practice as a trial attorney) with the instruction that Dr. Samadi was the very best in the USA for removing prostate cancer via his SMART Robotic surgical procedure.
Called Dr. Samadi on Friday afternoon. Arta ( lovely person and nurse) called me back that evening. She assured me I would be called by Yvette on Monday and she would arrange for an appointment. Sure enough, Yvette called Monday morning and I was in the office at 485 Madison Avenue, 21st floor, on Tuesday morning meeting Dr. Samadi's superb office staff, interviewed by Arte and then met and was examined by Dr. Samadi,
From the beginning, Dr. Samadi assured me he was gong to take very good care of me.
There was a new procedure that crystalized the biopsy procedure. He assured me that he was doing all of the work in my case. After a specialized MRI, the biopsy was performed on December 9, 2014. Sure enough, I had high grade aggressive cancer in my prostate. Dr. Samadi reviewed the results with me and ordered additional diagnostic tests to determine whether the cancer had migrated. or metastasized.
Surgery was scheduled and rescheduled due to inability to pass pre cert for the February 4, 2015 scheduled date. Because of the aggressive nature of the cancer I wanted it out immediately if not sooner. We rescheduled for 4pm February 11. Rosie (the surgical liaison in Dr. Samadi's office) called me on Monday and I was placed first on Dr. Samadi's Wednesday schedule (7:00am). from the moment my wife, Jayne, and I arrived at Lenox Hill we were treated like old friends by the security staff and, as we were very early, waited for awhile in the reception area. Renee greeted us, and escorted up to Dr. Samadi's 5th Floor Surgical recovery unit. That was an eye opening experience! Dr. Samadi has provided for every detail one could imagine in creature comforts to accommodate the families and patients. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and ergonomically esthetic.
After being escorted to my room, the staff of nurses and nurse assistants came in and introduced themselves. Carrie Muir was clear in her instructions as was Renee and in short order I was escorted to Dr. Samadi's surgical suite in the basement. I was so confident in Dr. Samadi, I had no reservations whatsoever to proceeding with my surgery. Dr. Samadi came in, shook my hand and we chatted. The Dr. Rodriguez, stopped in and after they spoke with Jayne, we were ready to go. Dr. Rodriguez was speaking with me and said "I just slipped you a mickey" .. Nothing like a lot of levity when you are going under!.. When I awakened I was in recovery and then taken to the my room. The surgery was successful! Dr. Samadi came in and told me everything went as well as it could and he was very pleased.
There was almost no pain involved. The only pain relief taken was 2 Tylenol once Thursday and Friday
8 days post surgery Rachel removed the catheter. The pathology report was excellent- could not have been better.
I had a visit with Dr. Samadi and he reiterated how pleased he was with my pathology report. Dr. Samadi and his staff are the most professional and in spite of the efficiency and excellence of his entire operation you always feel that you are truly cared about by all involved.
If you have been diagnosed with or believe you may have prostate cancer, Your best bet for a successful outcome is to see Dr. Samadi and have him manage your treatment. He is brilliant, caring and recognized as the peerless oncologic surgeon in the treatment of prostate cancer.
Michael D.

Best in Class Worldwide-
Dr. David Samadi needs no introduction. He is a world renowned surgeon with extensive experience and expertise. He is an artist, visionary and true innovator and his attention to detail cannot be described in words. I have known him for several years as he not only performed one successful surgery on my father but two. First for prostate cancer several years ago and yesterday for my dad's bladder cancer. I have to say he is the most dedicated and hardworking surgeon I know. As I waited with my father in the recovery room, I could not help but notice how his strengths extended to his sense of compassion and commitment to his patients. One by one he walked around and sat with them offering a gentle touch on the shoulder or a smile alleviating all the fears and trepidation leading up to that moment with the positive news he offered. This is so rare from a top surgeon and it is that quality that makes him so special. I am truly inspired by him for his compassion, commitment, working tirelessly for all of his patients , and for never giving up on fighting this disease. He is a role model for his profession and the world is a better place because of him.

Dr. Samadi operated on my prostae(or his resident assistant saw the most , did the worst TURP of the past five I have had, operated with a powerfully resistant bacteria infecting the site, treated inadequately, too late wrong medicatio by a nurse who did all the pre/post op treatemnt diagnosis of any problrems and Dr. Samedi smiling as I related the serious symptoms and siad it was normal to bleed after an operation and it would be all right..in a disassociated manner. I had to see two infectious diseases doctors and several powerful (IV' and injected antigiotics later) managed to recover but not fully recuperate. I was pre-med student, and have several credentialled medical providers who shake their head at this story considering the high rating for what was an incompetent practice and now after only two years am looking forward to another prostate procedure (usually 7 or 8 in the past). Maybe he only takes cancer patirnts seriously or is focussed on that specialty and has better luck in his robotics. For me it was robotic medical practice.

I wish I could give 7 Stars! Even the moment Dr. Samadi informed me I had prostate cancer in me, I already knew I was going to get excellent care. He is extremely careful, articulate in his explanations, professional and understanding about others' concerns, and most importantly, in his goal which is to cure early stage of cancer. I just had my robotic prostatectomy, and he was not only accurate in what to predict post surgery regarding side effects, his support staff (almost good enough to be doctors too) have continued to be there to answer questions and help in some of those side areas. Dr. Samadi has arranged a special ward at Lenox Hill Hospital, and that area does not even look like a hospital - the nurse to patient ratio felt like 1 to 2. The hospital nurses are very patient and they are very attentive to your needs, notably to comfort and alleviating pain. Most importantly, Dr S and the nurses do not lie or exaggerate about what you will feel or have. I received the pathology report in the manner that Dr S and his staff predicted, based on my age and stats - I still am in the waiting game as to whether the PSA is down to 0 (or at least below 0.1) - blood test in another month - so you can imagine that feeling in unnerving, but his staff continues to be optimistic on mine. When I received a 2nd opinion about having this surgery, it came from someone who is a non-surgeon but who is highly respected and qualified to make the determination. Believe me when I tell you that I am easily nervous about prognosis, I feel and felt very comfortable in all of Dr Samadi's care. Even though he is very busy because of his practice, surgery, and media attention, you feel you have his 100% attention when he is attending to your appointment. He also is very personable. His staff and supporting staff (and other Drs) highly respect his work.

My surgery was completed by Dr. Samadi on Dec. 10,2014. I had completed a bizarre series of consultations with various physicians prior to the surgery and was totally confused. But one thing I had read online was always nagging at me. That advice was that you will know what you will do when you meet the Dr. that you most trust. There was no doubt in my mind that, after meeting Dr. Samadi , he was the dr. that I was going to be treated by. I was all set to do radiation, but I wanted just one more opinion. I went to see Dr. Samadi and told him I was set to do the radiation in one week unless he could convince me otherwise. After speaking with him, I went from "I'll think about it", to "when can we do this". The surgery was done two weeks later and I haven't looked back. I had no problems after the surgery, no pads from day one, and feel great. I think the thing I feel best about is that I went for that last opinion. I was so impressed by his passion for his work, and his incredible confidence in himself that he can almost guarantee that you are in the hands of the best surgeon possible. Having confidence in your dr. and the procedure is so important to your health success.
I recommend him with no hesitation whatsoever. Believe me, you can't go wrong. It's worth the trip from wherever you are. Put your health in the hands of this fine man. You'll never look back and you'll consider yourself incredibly blessed.
Dr. S.F.

I was apprehensive about having prostate surgery, but there was no need to be. The procedure was painless and the outcome completely corrected my problem. Dr. Samadi and his office staff treat patients with enormous courtesy and respect. The hospital arrangements at Lenox Hill were excellent in every way--the attentiveness and responsiveness of the nursing staff, the dedicated wing with private rooms for Dr. Samadi's patients, the well prepared food, the opportunity to interact with other patients, the comfort provided to my wife and family members who visited -- all these things definitely contributed to my easy recovery. Before having this procedure, I consulted other well-known surgeons, but none could match Dr. Samadi. He is the best choice for anyone who wants the highest level of care.
