he can barely speak English and is so hard to understand with his thick accent. very hard to feel a connection to a psychiatrist if their language skills are so poor. this is a major problem that i have encountered with him

Dr Khattak is the worst psychiatrist you can have. I don't recommend him to anyone. He treats patience horribly. He talk to people with disrespect. I'm surprised he doesn't have a black eye yet. Just talking to him I want to punch him out. He is so rude. He just hears what he wants to hear. And if he doesn't like the way you act or take things he will treat you so horrible. He makes everything worse if you are in a serious crisis. He doesn't know how to handle problems right. I wouldn't refer anyone to him.

In 2010, I met Dr. Khattak for the very first time. At the time I was going through a major crisis in my life. My children had been apprehended and I was completely suicidal and homicidal. I spoke with Dr. Khattak, who decided to certify me. It was what needed to happen at that time. Due to the Homicidal Ideation, I ended up being reported to the police by Dr. Khattak, he did not disclose what I told him, and kept the Dr/Patient Privilege, however he did report as he was ethically obligated to do. He also refused to testify against me in the Criminal Proceeding. I then had a Presentation hearing to get my kids back. Dr. Khattak went above and beyond his duty and testified for free, MSP didn't cover it. He testified as an expert witness and told the court that the only reason I was in the emotional condition I was in was because my kids were taken for no good reason, that I was a good parent and that I was not a danger to my kids. Based on his testimony I got my kids back immediately. Also, Dr. Khattak, was very honest caring etc. If you don't like being told straight up and a Dr. that is honest with you don't see him. If you cant handle the truth about your illness, or if you want someone to sugar coat it Don't see him. But if you are looking for a very knowelgeable psychiatrist, who goes above and beyond see him. Dr. Khattak not sure if you read these comments but Thank You for being my psychiatrist, and helping me through the most difficult time in my life. Your amazing God Bless you.

Dr Khattak is great. I read these other comments and I think may of thse people have had a hard time accepting that they have mental illnesses. If you can accept the diagnoses and have the support people around you (that aren't crazy themselves) to help you would realize he is a first rate professional.

Dealt with Khattak at the ARCCH PCDU. A family member was admitted for a deliberate overdose, and was originally seeing a different psychiatrist earlier in the week who was waiting for a bed for her in the psychiatric ward. Khattak took over on day 5, abruptly cut her medication dosage by 75% without explanation, then arbitrarily decided to discharge her the next day without treatment. She is now experiencing extreme withdrawal symptoms from the abrupt change in dosage, in addition to dealing with the untreated problems that led her to the ER and PCDU in the first place. If anything, Khattak's "treatment" substantially worsened the situation.

This doctor spent a short time with my mother who had taken an overdose of sleeping pills and was in hospital. He had obviously not read the patient notes as she had been saying all day she was still suicidal. He phoned me at 8.00 pm to tell me he was send her home right away. I was horrified as there was nothing in place for her and I told him so. He responded telling me it was "not going to happen" so he was sending her home. I told him she would be alone and he said that was okay. An elderly woman of 86 who had taken an overdose was surely at risk of doing the same thing again if she was left alone. She had no clothes either. I was fully expecting to see her standing on the doorstep and I believe if I hadn't objected he would done just that. This doctor should not be practicing pyschiatry.

Dr Khattak saw my son, but before finding out why we were there to see him, he laughed and asked me why my son was behaving in a certain manner. I stopped him immediately and asked to see someone else when he quickly tried to compensate for his initial behaviour. He was kinder after I told him he was acting very rude and inappropriate but I would not see him again.

I am not found of this doctor at all. He has yet to diagnose me correctly after numerous appointments and 4 months of seeing him. He prescribes me medications that do NOT work and have horrible side effects. He's NEVER on time and he seems pre occupied when I am explaining how I'm feeling and what my concerns are to him. I am in the process of finding a new psychologist

First time I saw him, he gave me prescrip. for 3 months x 5 meds all at once-I replied that prev. Dt. had given me blister packs delivered 2x weekly so that I would not overdose (as I had several times before). He said that it was not his problem if I overdosed & would not write "blister packs" on prescription. Later, when on duty in hospital, he had me arrested twice (falsely) on charges of assault & threatening (both charges dropped). Another time, he certified me because I had taken a gun from a sheriff at the courthouse (also false), and for a week, he & staff harassed & accused me constantly about it. Then he said, "I'm keeping you here for a few more days for observation," then I called my lawyer who called back & reported that he was in courtroom as a witness & that it had not happened-then I was suddenly released, no apology or reason given. In subsequent hospital visits, he has continued to harass & falsely accuse me. He is now under investigation by CPSBC (www.cpsbc.ca)
