I am a 58 year old female who has spent many years advocating for those in pain who cannot advocate for themselves. I am now a person who suffers daily from intractable pain. \r\nI saw this Pain doctor for a second opinion as I have been a Chronic Pain patient for a number of years now. I was originally booked to see Dr Mary Lynch but unfortunately she retired shortly before my appointment. \r\nI spent about 1.5 hours at the beginning of my appointment with a student who is studying to be a family doctor. He was thorough and went over a large part of my medical history before Dr Livingston entered the room for the last 30 minutes of my appointment. She did not ask me any questions about my life in pain. Dr Livingston told me I should not wear my sunglass clip indoors as I would become dependant upon it. She gave me the title of a book about migraines and told me I could get the audio version of it to listen to. She said she likes to listen to audio books while she is driving. \r\nDr Livingston told me I have been\" misled\" and \"misinformed\" about the treatment plan I am following at this time. She informed me that my bi-weekly I.V. Lidocaine infusion would cause allergies and negative effects and that I should stop receiving this effective pain treatment. I asked her where she got her information about developing allergies and she stuttered a bit as it was obvious she had formed her own opinion. From where, I am not sure.\r\nDr Livingston was not interested in hearing anything from me as she was more interested in telling me how successful she is, over and above my anesthesiologist. \r\nIn terms of my life in pain, I suffer from concussion headaches, post MVA, almost 8 years. I have explored any and every treatment that has been suggested. I consider myself a good patient and that learning brings empowerment.
