:) Click to report rating    1/14/10 5 2 5 Jim's skillful hands have been helping me regain the use of my bicep and fingers after a motorcycle accident. He's knowledgeable, and straightforward. His aloof disposition may come across as uncaring, but that's just Jim...he's lost in his thoughts. The only downside to dealing with him, is his punctuality. If you need insurance papers filled out, expect a lengthy wait, but that's to be expected given his involvement with the board. If you want your surgery done well, go with Dr. O'brien, but practice patience, do what you need to do to get better, and let him do what he needs to do.

:| Click to report rating    3/16/09 4 1 2 He appears to have little respect for the people he is paid to help. Patients are all given the same block appointment time (8 a.m.) and then he doesn't show up until nearly 9 to start seeing people - no explanation, no apology. If he were anything other than a doctor he would probably find himself out of work.

:) Click to report rating    12/4/08 5 5 5 Dr O'Brien was referred to me by the Dr's in NICU at the Regional Hospital. Although He couldn't do my son's surgery he was verry honest and upfront with me. I verry much appreciated that.

:) Click to report rating    3/9/08 5 5 5 I credit Dr O'Brien's surgical skill with the vast improvement in my hand function. When other specialists, including a plastic surgeon, were pessimistic regarding recovery from the significant nerve damage affecting my arm and hand, he gave me hope. Both operations have made tremendous differences in so many aspects of my daily life. Over our 5 year 'walk together' I always found him to be caring, knowledgeable and an extremely skilled surgeon. His manner was identical both in clinics and in his office setting. Dr O'Brien's receptionist Connie communicates in a caring and professional manner and promptly returns calls with the information requested. I highly recommend Dr O'Brien to others in need of plastic surgery consultation.

:| Click to report rating    1/21/08 4 2 2 Gives direct, honest answers, but gives up too easily on the person/situation. Often schedules people to come to clinic before he even gets there as he has another clinic across town at the same time. Gave no hope for rehab, but did it on my own and surprised even him. Hopefully he won't write the next person off so quickly. Knows his stuff, just doesn't give the people themselves enough credit. Didn't like me doing my own research through the net, talking to others, etc.

:) Click to report rating    4/20/07 5 4 Dr. O'Brien doesn't say much, but I was pleased with the surgery he did on me. I think he is a good surgeon, and very kind man.
