24/06/14 1 1 1 1 I have no idea about Dr. Chung's skills as a doctor, but I do know his skills as a bully. He made a fat joke at my expense on the hospital ward in front off the staff, nurses and other doctors. I have crohn's and After a consult with one of the GI doctors food was delivered to rooms and since I have been unable to eat for two weeks I left. As I was leaving the room, next next to the nursing station the GI doc was there amongst his peers and nursing staff. I said, "I cannot be around food being delivered I am going for a walk" , His reply was "Good thing is it looks like you have not missed many meals" He fat shamed me and used me his patient as a joke in front of at least 15 peers. I am mortified, ashamed, insulted, hurt and now cannot trust the medical team here at RCH with my care I feel trapped  Respond

31/05/14 1 1 5 5 I saw Dr. Chung about 5 years ago for an Endoscopy and found him to be polite and professional. Unfortunately I can not say the same about his secretary / booking clerk. On the 11th of March of this year (2014) I was referred by my family doctor for another Endoscopy as I began experiencing rather severe upper abdominal pain. I have since called Dr. Chung's office several times to inquire about an appointment and each time have received a rather rude and uncaring response from his "Booking Clerk". I am told it will probably be "Sometime next year", "Maybe march or April", "We have hundreds of referrals", "We will get back to you". Tomorrow is the 1st of June and I am still awaiting a response. I recently had to visit Eagle Ridge hospital emergency due to evidence of internal bleeding and continued severe pain. I brought this to the attention of Dr, Chung"s clerk, but again received a similar response to that noted above.  Respond

12/09/13 4 5 5 5 Very friendly, very patient, spends enough time to understand the problem.I had a problem which tremendously limited my abilities as a graduate student. For two years I visited several general practitioners and three specialists, and went through CT scans, MRI, gastro-scopy and blood tests. None of these helped. Last May I visited Dr Chung. The first thing he told me is that I had all possible tests a human can ever have. Then he started asking me questions about my condition. This guy was able to extract every single detail about my ailment; he even got a vivid picture of my childhood ailments that could be related. At the end he prescribed a simple solution to my problem. Now I am in my best condition since 15 years. While others were using every possible piece of medical technology to diagnose my condition, but failed miserably, this friendly face was able to do it by giving himself the chance to think carefully about the problem, and solve it by simple techniques.  Respond

09/09/13 3 5 5 5 Dr Chung was very helpful and extremely patient during our appointment, I brought my 2 and a half year old daughter and he somehow managed to keep her calm and entertained while still giving me his full, undecided attention and answering all questions I had. He was well worth the wait and I highly recommend him to anyone needing a gastro!  Respond

30/06/12 4 4 4 4 Dr Chung is a very personable young man but I would have preferred less bed side manner and more help. I have been healthy all my life but ill for 2 years now and endured a lot of pain and many uncomfortable tests. I have had difficulty swallowing, bloating and severe acid reflux, shortness of breath. I was referred to Dr. Chung and waited almost 6 months, finally going into RC hospital for a 'consultation' and stomach scope. No consultation was done. All Dr. Chung did was introduce himself. When I woke up he had left a note to make an appt with him in TEN weeks! My GP never received a report, just a copy of the pathology report sent from the hospital. When I saw him in ten weeks he had no written report and had to look at my scope pictures on the computer. He told me to take nexium (a drug I have been taking) and come back in 6 months! I think Dr Chung is charging for consultations he is not doing and then making people wait 10 weeks so he can charge for another consultation.  Respond

28/04/12 5 5 5 5 I first seen Dr Chung in November 2006 after being in the RCH since August 2006, waiting for a Liver Transplant. I had my first internal bleed of 16 in September 2002 and to this day still bleeding with my 35 scope coming up in May 11th 2012. Dr Henry Chung has been my main G. I. specialist since I first meet him. I find him very informative and very compassionate towards taking his time to explain the details that need to be known. I would have no hestitation recommending him as a Top Notch G. I. specialist.  Respond

20/01/12 5 5 5 5 I just had a colonoscopy done with him a few days ago and was very impressed. He also put me at ease. The person below makes me think they are talking about another dr? There are two Chungs (Cheung) in the same office... both spelled slightly differently. I thought Henry Chung was FANTASTIC!  Respond

03/10/11 5 4 5 5 I've had Crohn's for almost 50 years & have never had a doctor as caring and knowledgeable as Henry. He ensures that I see him regularly to monitor my disease. Most of all, though, is the feeling that he really listens and I'm comfortable talking to him. With him and Dr. Angela Cullen caring for me, I'm well looked after.  Respond

02/04/11 4 3 4 4 Unlike the above person. Sorry you had a bad experience. My experience from day 1 has been awesome. I saw another doctor in his office who was rude etc after that last doctor (whom did the colonoscopy and endoscopy he never did a follow up and after procedure wrote on a piece of paper what he found...IBS. Dr. Chung has a great bedside manner, made me feel at ease answered any questions or concerns I had. I actually go for a procedure this week and have 100% faith in him. He is worth the wait if he is busy in his office and does not rush you.  Respond
