20/06/14 5 4 5 5 Dr. David Sternberg is an outstanding psychiatrist but an even better human being. Under his care I have achieved my goals for overcoming depression and enjoy a life that I didn’t think was possible. Also, he has been my most valued advisor on the path of recovery from addiction (alcohol and sex). When you talk to him, you would never know his accomplished background: graduating Yale and numerous appearances on national talk shows (e.g. Oprah). Dr. Sternberg is unafraid and unashamed to share his own journey, including mistakes and lessons he has learned, when it will be helpful to his patient. But the real test is this … my wife deeply appreciates my improvements and growth while under his care. David Sternberg MD is a gem in metro Kansas City’s medical/psychiatric community. If you have a mood disorder or struggle with one or more addictions or are a SO of an addict, you definitely should check him out before choosing a psychiatrist.

21/04/14 5 5 5 5 The best doctor I've been to in quite awhile. Great listener and gives you a lot of options and lets YOU decide what's best for you, as opposed to doctors who just shove pills down your throat that make you feel horrible. He also lets you talk, he wants to know about you and your life. He may be a psychiatrist, but he is also part psychologist. In that he helps you talk out your problems. All in all, great doctor. HIGHLY recommended.

04/11/13 1 1 1 2 he runs a clinic by himself out of Mid-town KC, I have never seen another staff member. Have issues with him billing insurance multiple times. Ask him why he won't accept Medicare - don't let his assertion that he was high and made bad business mistakes fool you. From the Kansas I.G. "Petitioner's lack of trustworthiness is established by his involvement for at least 20 months in a scheme to defraud Medicare and private insurers. His fraud was persistent and deliberate, not random or impulsive. The extent to which Petitioner persisted in defrauding Medicare and insurers is established by the large losses he caused the Medicare program and other insurers to incur. His high level of culpability is reflected in the lengthy prison sentence he received. Therefore, I find that the 15-year exclusion is reasonable and appropriate." 13/02/13 5 5 5 5 found Dr. Sternberg some 20 plus years ago when he first came to Kansas City. I had just been diagnosed as Bi Polar and my life was falling apart. I was the Mother of 5 young children and if not for Dr. Sternberg my kids would have lost their Mom and my Husband would have lost a wife. Some days he might have wished for it........Dr. Sternberg not only saved my life but I have had a productive life since then. I still have my demons but have learned not only how to deal with them but have learned how to use my Mania in a positive way. Thank you Dr. Sterberg  Respond

02/12/12 3 5 5 5 I too have an admiration for Dr. Sternberg's humanity, the quality of his professional services and my most important issue, is empathy towards me, I cannot speak for others but can't imagine the same type of care and dignity are not given to others. It is too innate in his own personality. To say I have gotten my life back is an understatement, Dr. Sternberg seems to allow for your own self-discovery as opposed to a regimen of behavior dictated by textbook psychiatry. He always answers my phone calls, quickly responds to appt. requests, has never failed to answer an email. I feel it is a blessing to have met him personally to assist with my problem and I now look forward to delving into the cause of my behavior. Thanks Dr. S. (tk)  Respond

21/06/12 5 5 5 5 Doctor Sternberg is an exceptional psychiatrist. He helped me face my problems with concern and dignity. Besides finding the correct medication for my illness, he also helped me to better think through the problems and find solutions. Regarding the one comment below, his own openness allowed me to be more honest with him then I have ever been with anyone. I am so grateful to him.  Respond

11/01/11 5 5 5 5 He has saved my marriage, my business and most of all my life. I am forever indebted to Dr. Sternberg. He is a gentle and humble man and seems to truly care about me and my wife and the struggles we had been through. I have seen several doctors before him and don't think I will ever find another like him.

22/08/08 5 5 5 5 Dr. Sternberg is an excellent psychiatrist, and he has a wealth of knowledge and experience with so many things that I've never had an issue that he couldn't respond to immediately... he is very involved with each patient and treats each patient very valuable. He's the first doctor I've ever trusted and who I've ever really been comfortable with and didn't feel like I was being ripped off. Dr. Sternberg has improved my opinion of doctors a lot just by being human, caring, and compassionate. He wants what's best for the patient...

02/05/07 5 5 5 Dr. Sternberg is a very special psychiatrist. He listens carefully and sensitively, asks the right questions, and makes the right diagnosis. He knows the latest information about medications and provides "state of the art" treatment. Then he is easy to reach via his cell phone (he says he trusts his patients not to abuse that privilege) and is willing to listen and help the enire familly. I was referred to him because no other psychiatrist was able to help me with my depression. After speaking with me and my wife, he diagnosed an atypical depression. The combination of medications he developed for me have made me a new man. I had seen four previous doctors without good results. Now, my nephew has begun to see him for his addiction to methamphetamine and has now been clean for 8 months - that is a miracle.

08/04/07 5 5 5 This doctor is the best in psychiatry we have found anywhere! He answers his cell when there is an emergency and responds to email questions promptly. He is gentle, kind, and works with the entire family, not just the "addicted patient." He is up-to-date in knowledge of the newest meds in addiction psychiatry.
