working in the medical field dealing with other patients needs are different when it is your own family members. Over the years many of my family members have seen Dr. Van Wijk. My father thought there was no one like him and for myself whenever I speak with him I find this gentleman outstanding with his knownledge and compassion. He will follow you up and does take the time to speak with you if needed. People have to remember you are NOT the only patient that a doctor sees. I would highly recommend this doctor if you have a medical problem especially with the heart. I also find he has a smile whenever you see him and that is so rare now. Keep up the excellent work Dr. Van Wijk.
I thought he was very helpful. I would also recommend him. He was very professional and asked me many questions and was very interested in my problem .
I deal with doctors every day and after seeing this physician, I was impressed with his knowledge, and his advice to me has made very positive improvements in my life. I will be forever greatful.
I will never go back to him. I was refered by my family doctor for a problem I was having, he spent very little time talking to me, asked me very open ended question that there could have been a million differnt answers to making me feel very dumb, and as I was walking out the door he mumbeled "good luck, your gonna need it". I believe this doctor should be reviewed and have his licence taken away. What ever happened to the hippocratic oath?I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant: I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow. I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures which are required, avoiding those twin traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nihilism. I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug.
I would never go see him again, I would rather travel to St. John's or Halifax, to see siomeone who actually knows what they are doing, and knows how to listen.
