I saw Dr. Hay for 6 months because he was the psychiatrist in my area that had the shortest wait list. I found out why: while treating me, he accidently prescribed me contra-indicated medications which made me sicker than I have ever been in my life. He also combined and cycled me through so many different medications, I became far worse off, and my family doctor and pharmacist expressed serious concern. Like others here, I also endured his self-aggrandizement (e.g., claiming to be enlightened after meditating in a monastery), his hatred for his ex-wife (e.g., complaining she wouldn't have sex often enough), his conspiracy theories about J* ws (e.g., complaining that Z*onists are corrupting the healthcare system), his tirades against feminists, and more. The man is deeply disturbed, and it is a shock to me that he is still in practice. Please avoid him. If he has also hurt you, consider reporting him as well.

Dr. Hay is the most knowledgeable and professional doctor I have met. He is down to the earth a great listener and communicator. I highly recommend him to anyone who is going through a mental health issue. Thank you to him and his staff.

He basically just uses our sessions to talk about himself and his own politics. He showed up 30 minutes late when I took time off from work to meet with him. He went on a 30-minute rant about how Elon Musk needs to come to Canada with DOGE and clean up our healthcare system. Some of his "Evidence-Based" statements: "Women's skills are to be taken care of and have babies..." "Of course you can't get a job, you're a white man. If you were an Indian Midget you'd have no problem" "Residential Schools are all made up crap"

It's been years and I still can't get over how awful an experience the sessions were. Traumatic, actually. He is a nightmare of a doctor. This was posted a few years ago. Any positive reviews he will have posted. Several people have stated reporting him with some malpractice. He is a lonely old man that gets paid to talk about himself and knows nothing about me. He makes up prescriptions that are not discussed or necessary. He has mental health problems and should have had his license removed years ago. He is putting false information in medical records as stated by others. I thought malpractice was a criminal offense. There are so many negative reviews there could be a class action. Absolutely the most terrible experience ... and I want my medical records to move forward with reporting him to Physician & Surgeons and the medical clinic that refers a mentally disturbed doctor. This is the lowest doctor rating and anything positive, as others have stated he himself posted. I won't trust any doctor in future when he gets away with hurting so many people. Everyone with these negative reviews that go back years should continue reporting him to Physicians & Surgeons. People are amazed he still has his license. Nightmare! Shame on the medical profession!!!

I am pleased with my interaction with Dr Hay. When I was in my darkest moments he was able to get me help which I am so grateful for. I have turn my life around all for the better and Dr Hay had a part to do with that . I don’t reserve to tell Dr Hay anything because if he judges me he hides it very well. And he makes me laugh too even when I never expected to.

Great psychiatrist, he goes above and beyond to help people, especially for those whom consider him a friend. Yes he is a bit eccentric, but who isn’t these days. He’s helped my in places where most would have just walked away, he’s always smiling and usually has your issue figured out with a dilution long before you have finished explaining your concerns. If you are looking for help where others have fallen short, Dr.Hay won’t let you down, ever.

I was worried about meeting Dr Hay based on these reviews and because of some disturbing things I’ve read in his blog that seemed to confirm what was said here. I kept the appointment because I really needed medication adjustment asap and because I am someone who has to see and judge things for myself. He seemed very kind and knowledgeable. He listened to everything I said even when it seemed like he wasn’t listening (multitasking). We had some technical difficulties with the call, but even through all that, he still understood me. He did talk about his past experiences as a doctor and he gave examples from his own life, but it didn’t take over the appointment at all and it was all very brief. It helped me to trust his advice more if anything. He seems like a highly experienced psychiatrist. I felt better about things after speaking with him even though I’ve not started the treatment yet. There is hope.

I'm not sure if this man's experience can help the younger generations. I've not once felt like he was listening to my issues but rather listening for a chance to speak about one of his memories. He was unable to understand my situation even when I explained it to him. I have absolutely no interest in continuing to speak with this man. Ultimately, this has been a waste of time for me.

I think a lot about my appointment with this doctor. I still sometimes wonder if my memories are real about that visit, because, how can a psychiatrist say those things to anyone is beyond me. He urged me to have kids, even though I didn't bring up the topic. When I said that I am not sure that I am even fertile, he said "of course you are! You are a woman. This is what women do". Then he proceeded with, "Just stop after having 12 kids. There is no medical benefit of having the 13th child". We talked a bit about my mother and the trauma she has caused me. When he found out that my parents were both from Soviet Union, he bluntly called my mother a b...ch and said that she was most likely raped once upon a time and that's why she was such a b...ch to me. My jaw just dropped at that point. He finished off our session by calling me neurotic, once again reminded me to to get pregnant and while holding the door for me said that he probably shouldn't see me again, because I am "too nice" and that he may "ruin me" if we continue to work on my mental health together. That was definitely for the best. But I still think a lot about that day...I am still super confused by his remakes and question mine and his sanity all together. Enter at your own risk.
