Beware of Philip Young! Please check his credential on Washington State Department of Health website -- his medical license is pending to be REVOKED due to so many complaints of medical negligence and unprofessional conduct!! You can actually read the charges against him when you do a Provider Credential Search with his name.
I was foolish not to do any research and regrettable had rhinoplasty done with Dr. Young. It was supposed to be a simple rhinoplasty with implant. My original nose did not look bad, but I just wanted a slight improvement. However, I ended up getting a terrible infection from the rhinoplasty -- and the infection was not detected until I informed Dr. Young of it! The tip of my nose eventually eroded away because of the infection. Dr. Young did not take the appropriate steps to stop my infection. He wasted a year of my time just treating me with antibiotics and performing "mini" surgeries to suture the wound. But none of this helped; this actually made my nose become completely deformed.
My infection only stopped when the nose implant was taken out by another surgeon. I ended up having to get a very invasive reconstructive surgery done from this new surgeon, and this took about two years to fix. My nose still does not look normal. I am a young, single female, and this nightmare has made me feel very self-conscious and I am no longer the social person I once was.
I wouldn't want anyone to experience what I have gone through. Please do your research on Philip Young and do not make the same mistake I did.
Dr. Philip A. Young's response
We are sorry that you had this experience with us. It hurts us to hear this and know that you had this outcome. Our team lives and breathes the work we do to achieve the best results and to avoid complications. With that said, the infection rate at our institution is exceptionally low. Over the past 6 years, Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery's infection rate has been less than 1% (0.63% is our actual infection rate). Based on the National Nosocomial Infection Surveillance (NNIS) System, this is much better than the National average. Nationally, infections were reported to be 2.1% for clean surgeries, 3.3% clean-contaminated, 6.4% contaminated and 7.1% dirty (Culver DH, Horan TC, Gaynes RP, Martone WJ, Jarvis WR, Emori TG, et al. Surgical wound infection rates by wound class, operative procedure, and patient risk index. National Nosocomial Infections Surveillance System. Am J Med 1991; 91(3B): 152S-157S.).
Nasal Surgeries are generally considered to be clean-contaminated surgeries. Our infection rate (of less than 1%) is significantly lower than the National average (of 3.3%). Of course, statistics are one thing and if an individual patient gets an infection, it will feel 100% to that person.
Regarding the referenced Washington State Department of Health issue, we are working with the department to investigate these complaints. Our aspirational goal is 0% infections. We see this as an opportunity to continually improve and we will work with the Department of Health to make changes to allow us to excel as an institution.
Most importantly, we put our excellence into patient care. Dr. Young and his team meet weekly to discuss our patient care and how we can improve as a team. Our institution has undergone 2 rigorous surveys by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and has been accredited by them since August 2011. The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) is a private, non-profit organization that develops standards to advance and promote patient safety, quality care, and value for ambulatory health care through peer-based accreditation processes, education, and research. A certificate of accreditation is awarded to organizations that are found to be in compliance with AAAHC Standards. AAAHC currently accredits more than 5,000 organizations in a wide variety of ambulatory health care settings. They are also the official accrediting organization for the US Air Force and the US Coast Guard.
Again, we are sorry that you had this experience with us. We wish that you would have had a better experience. From our perspective, one patient with an infection is one too many. We also wish you the best in terms of your continual healing. We will do everything we can for you, as we have in the past. You can contact us at email@example.com. This email is forwarded straight to Dr. Young. We will do everything we can to help.

He is the worst sourgen I have ever seen for rhinoplsty he lied on me he made me poly peek nose he just sells his ideas and he doesn't care about you or about your needs he cares about money that's all . If You want an honest, professional, experienced surgeon when going in for plastic surgery he is not that surgeon , he makes promises that he can't keep.
Dr. Philip A. Young's response
I was surprised to read the above comments. I care a great deal about my patients, and want what is best for them. My goal is to deliver the aesthetic results my patients desire, and I am able to do so in an overwhelming majority of the cases. With that said, I know that I am not perfect - no surgeon is. If a patient reports a concern, or is unsatisfied with their surgical results, I work with them to develop a secondary treatment plan, as necessary - and often waive my professional fee for secondary procedures.
I am certainly sympathetic to the issue you report in your review. However, no patient seen at our practice has presented with a polly beak deformity. Regardless, I would welcome the opportunity to address your concern. Unfortunately, I am at a disadvantage, as I cannot identify who you are. As such, I encourage you to contact my office, so we can discuss your condition in full. I would be glad to find a solution to any perceived problem. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best.

Dr. Philip Young preformed an otoplasty on my 1.25" stretched earlobes in 2011. I researched several other plastic surgeons. The other surgeons I researched or discussed the procedure with either hadn't preformed the surgery and theorized methodologies on how to preform it or they had preformed it, but on a much smaller scale. Dr. Young was confident and had documentation illustrating the outcome of similar otoplasties. The themes of every pre op conversation included balancing my face, achieving natural looking lobes, and determining how much earlobe tissue would be actually be available for reconstruction. Three years after the procedure Dr. Young contacted me to ensure that my scarring was minimal. Scarring was/is minimal yet he insisted on lasering the areas. He wanted me to look the best I possibly could. Dr. Young has also done Botox and microderm for me. I continue to go to him for Botox.
BEFORE seeing Dr. Young, I saw a number of physicians who were unskilled and could not speak intelligently to the problems I addressed. I spent money out of my own pocket to see Dr. Young in order to NOT make the same mistake of seeing someone affiliated with an organization. Because I went to a private practice there was no pressure for unnecessary charges that a facility “requires” in order to maximize billing to insurance. You pay more money but you get what you pay for. WHEN I met Dr. Young I instantly could tell the DIFFERENCE between him and other providers. I am VERY HAPPY with the outcome of my procedure. I have HEALED remarkably and also learned more about patient care when I am the patient. Paying out of pocket was WORTH the cost. If I had NOT seen Dr. Young, I could have ended up with major scarring from old techniques recommended by OTHER physicians. I am more than happy to put my credentials down as an advocate on behalf of Dr. Young as a talented surgeon.
My experience with Dr. Young was outstanding. He has excellent bedside manner, listened carefully to all of my concerns, and set realistic expectations for me. I felt safe and comfortable before and after my procedure, and was thrilled with my results. I am extremely satisfied with the entire process.
In trying to have my deformed ears corrected, after numerous surgeries I had ears that were just deformed in a different way! Every surgeon I talked to said nothing more could be done. Then I discovered Dr. Young. He knew about MedPor implants that he could implant to bring my ears away from my head. They now look just like I wanted! He also was able to correct a scar contracture by tissue grafting, something the other surgeons were sure could never be done because there wasn't enough tissue left. But Dr. Young did it! He is on the cutting edge of plastic surgery techniques; he is able to manipulate tissue in ways other surgeons wouldn't even think of. His skill and results are incredible. To me he'a a miracle worker. I can't thank him enough. He is not only incredibly skilled, he's also wonderfully patient and tireless in his pursuit of giving his patient the results he or she wants. He's the best!
Dr.Philip Young is a professional, indeed! From the start what impressed upon me is his thorough approach and the desire to do what is best for me. His observations are extensive, and he does not rush! Thank you! I find Dr. Philip Young and staff coming from a place of wanting the best for you as a patient. After the incisionless facelift was completed, Dr. Young assured me that he will be watching and tending to me carefully. And he kept his word! I like that. You will too. I would not have had this treatment any other way. Give the good Dr. a call. PS., I didn't come out looking funny. It's natural.
Dr. Young is the best possible doctor there is. I had nothing but issues with my chin implant. However, thanks to Dr. Young who did everything in his power I was able to have a successful surgery. Dr. Young quickly discovered that a deep scar I have from childhood was causing blood flow issues and because of this fluid was building up. Rather than just let the fluid build up Dr. Young took action and let the incision heal naturally. He met with my every single day (including his days off) and made sure I had a successful surgery. I can't say enough great things about Dr. Young not just as a doctor, but as a person too. If you want a doctor with both endless skill and flawless bedside manner; then Dr. Young is the doctor for you.
I don’t recommend Dr. Young in lower facelift. The technique he uses leaves a submental scar that –in my case- was very disfiguring and noticeable. The scar pulled the sides of my cheek leaving ridges and lines that persisted for more than two years. I had to have revision by one of the top facial plastic surgeons with decent experience in the facelift. He does not use the submental approach and does not leave a scar beneath the chin. After the revision, he told that your first surgeon was very conservative and did not lift the deep tissues enough and this has resulted in tissue laxity within less than two years. Dr. Young may be a good doctor but he lacks experiences in this and I do not recommend him in this area. He tries to sell you on the idea that he "discovered" the theory on facial beauty and has nothing to do with HAND SKILLS. Look for experiencd surgeons.
