I saw Dr. Pachal three times. The last two times he saw me for only 20 minutes. In 20 minutes he likened my depression to a sore knee! When I questioned him he got defensive and condescending with me. Each time, it triggered my depression to deepen. I thought psychiatrist where suppose to help with depression? At at a loss what to do now. I feel the mental health "industry" has left me out in the cold. As for Dr. Pachal. I don't feel he should be dealing with vulnerable patients.

I agree with others who have left negative comments. I didn’t respond to his treatment so he dumped me as a patient, leaving me in worse shape than I was when I began seeing him. He intimidates, bullies, and ridicules as well as being very rude if you dare to question him. He does not listen once he has made up his mind. He has a he has a huge ego and likes to hear himself speak. I have a serious but common mental illness. I am rating him as unknowledgeable because on three occasions, instead of helping, he actually triggered depression. I am being treated by another doctor who i feel is more competent and understanding.

I saw Dr. Pachal on a weekly or bi-weekly basis for 2 years and continue to see him on an as- needed basis. I find him to be very knowledgeable, intuitive, understanding, and helpful. He works attentively with me on my issues until I fully understand their effects. He taught me how to recognize triggers and effective ways to resolve, cope, and/or deal with future occurrences of those or similar issues. He counselled me on how to change my negative thinking. He works diligently to find the right combination of meds, always willing to go back to the drawing board when they aren’t achieving the desired effect. While Dr. Pachal is blunt and tough when the situation warrants, he always listens to me and treats me with compassion and respect. He has a wonderful sense of humour which can bring me back to reality and/or lighten the mood by replacing tears with laughter. Because of Dr. Pachal's counselling, I am still alive and have emerged a nicer, happier person than before.

Let me just say....don't go here. I needed help and it (the helper) had an attitude. I was asked to leave when I asked pointed questions. OMG.

My visit to this person who calls himself a doctor was a total waste of time and travel expense. His idea of treatment for clinical depression was to advise me to turn to a "Higher Power"!! Everyone's entitled to their own superstitions and imaginary friends, but to substitute such beliefs for medical competence is outrageous and unprofessional. Fortunately there are other health professionals in the same clinic who are intelligent, knowledgeable, educated and caring.

I Have OCD and was being seen in Alberta for this problem twice a month then I moved to BC I was sent to see this doctor I have been on leave from work and trying to get my life back in line. All he did was bully me and tell me I dont need help I just need to get over it. I see by other peoples ratings that I am not the only one that has been treated this way.

Did not listen to me once he had made up his mind. I ended up being intimidated by him and found him rude on numerous occasions.

Hard to feel at ease with him at first but over time it got easier. Likes to hear himself talk and at times more so than he wanted to listen. To much into the blackboard for my liking but he does have some good knowledge to share. Can't say he really helped me but it definitely didn't hurt.

Rude nasty tends to scare patients and should have remained a lawyer. Being a shark was his first calling.
