I was looking for a specialist since I have hypothyroidism and the last time my GP ran blood tests, they were off the chart! Dr Denker told me I also have Hasimoto Syndrome and that my children are also at risk and need to be checked throughout their lives! Good to know! Generally, I do not like doctors. Most have what I call a God-Complex and do not take sufficient time to explain things. Dr Denker is a jewel! He went through the does and don'ts of what I should watch out for and for the first time somebody told me to wait a FULL HOUR, not a half hour, before eating food after taking my morning thyroid meds. We still don't have it quite right but we are getting there, with two tablets in the morning and one in the afternoon. He calls personally with blood results and took me to his bookkeeper to see if there was any way they could accept my daughter's health insurance, since the front desk said a flat NO to Humana HMO. Dr Denker gets an A+ from me!!!!
The best diabetes Dr I have ever met. Was willing to listen. He reduced the amount of Meds I was taking and since then my sugars are better and I have lost weight. I would highly recommend him and his office. He seems highly knowledgable offering me several options including new treatments, a great experience
If you have diabetes and are trying to actively manage it, DO NOT go to Dr. Denker! Having been newly diagnosed with Type 2 in March of this year I though it would be good to have an Endo in Clearwater as well as Atlanta, since we go back and forth frequently. The initial visit consisted of him reviewing my chart from my Atlanta Endo, doing what appeared to be a general physical and then telling me I was good to go. I had to ask him to do an A1C, which he did but no other blood work. Two days later he left me a voicemail with my A1C result of 5.4 and informed me to stop taking the 1000mg of Metformin twice a day, that I wasn't diabetic!! WHAT!!?? I called my Endo in Atlanta who has a huge practice, did his residency at John Hopkins, and sits on the board at Emory University. He insisted that I NEVER go see Dr. Denker again and suggested that his statements were on the verge of malpractice. Beware, your health may be in jeopardy!
