Dr Barkin with intelligence and grace made me feel like he was walking in my shoes. He never rushed me with my questions and concerns. I met him at Rush and I am going to see him again with an upcoming surgery. The best doctor I have ever been treated by. He is not shy about telling his personal experiences which keeps his humanity in his practice unlike so many other practitioners. I am honored to be his patient.

Saved my life. On the third day after bi-lateral knee replacements the staff at what was then Rush North Shore had yet to lessen my pain. Dr Barkin arrived quickly, after Dr. Goldstien had called him. He quickly worked his magic. I am eternally grateful. He is a genius chemically and a charming funny man. When I thanked him for saving my life he replied "Oh no I only save stamps." A great man

This practice is a bunch of quacks!!! First they make you see this crazy Dr. Wu who makes the patient feel like a drug addict even when they are bringing in medical records and give a detailed history. I wonder if Dr. Barkin knows what a jerk Dr. Wu is.

Dr. Barkin is a character and could be intimidating to some patients. He is also an outstanding caregiver with cutting edge knowledge of pain medications, including the latest synthetic opioids (which reduced side effects). He is exceptionally intelligent and has a knowledge and understanding of pain management that is both encyclopedic and up to the minute. He makes his recommendations based on sound scientific evidence and clinical studies. His wealth of experience and serious concern for his patients' well-being make him by far the most helpful practitioner I've seen in over a decade of severe pain treatment. He is honest, blunt, and no-nonsense. No doubt he can rub some people the wrong way. But if you or someone you love is in severe chronic pain, there is no-one better able or more willing to offer meticulous, compassionate care than Dr. Barkin. If my mother, my wife, or my children were in severe pain, I would not hesitate one moment to take them to Dr. Barkin.

This arrogant blowhard is every patients' worst nightmare. Rude, condescending, extremely intolerant of any questions concerning his diagnoses or treatment. When he learned I had asked one of the nurses to bring me a PDR so I can learn about the EIGHT MEDS he wanted to put me on, he freaked out, saying I had no just cause to question his authority. To which I replied, "Hey, **** ~ it's my body, my pain. I've been here two weeks already, when I was told I'd be home in three days. The other doctors are either avoiding me altogether or flat-out lying to my face. Don't you dare march in here and tell me I'm gonna take this, this, this and, oh yeah, that too, without expecting me to want to know exactly what those meds are... and, what they do." He's a pompous know-it-all who doesn't tolerate any skepticism regarding his decisions. He insulted my fiancee with an offensive remark that, had I been healthy, would have caused me to hurt the man so badly, he would have cried for his Mommy.
