I just had four of my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Poon. His staff was amazing...so friendly and very nice - which helped a lot since I was absolutely terrified...he even called that evening to see if I was okay - left a message on my cell phone and then called my home phone as well...I would highly recommend.
I went in for an emergency visit after my own dentist could not remove 2 wisdom teeth. He was rough, displayed very little bedside manner and condescending. I can't think of anything pleasent about the experience and hope I never have to go back there again.
I had the opposite experience of the previous reviewer. I had a wisdom tooth removed, and Dr. Poon was wonderful - extremely helpful, patient and provided excellent pre- and post-operative care. He even called me at home in the evening that day to follow-up, make sure everything was ok and let me know if there were questions to be sure to call. How is that for service! The information/instructions provided to me following the surgery were excellent. His staff were highly competent and I would have no hesitation in highly recommending this office and doctor.
He is a Maxillo Facial Surgeon, new to the province of NL. I Was one of his first patients, as we previously did not have a maxillofacial surgeon and I have been off work for many months and was considering going to Toronto for help. On the initial visit, I was advised that he needed to take an xray and did not have the equipment yet. About 7 weeks later, I received a call. I had the x-ray and was then told by Dr Poon that he would look at them and contact me within 2 - 4 weeks to decide what he would do (?!?). After 5 weeks, I received no word from him. I finally went to the office and asked the receptionist to ensure that he contacts me ASAP as I am on disability benefits and anxious to fix my problem. He finally called and advised me that there's nothing he could do, offered no helpful advice, told me that i should change jobs and was extremely condescending. At the end I asked if he will send a report to my GP to which he replied "not necessarily". Horrible experience.
