My son saw this doctor several years ago who informed us our son had emotional problems when, in fact,as we found out later, he had ADD. That one visit to Addleman was a total nightmare for our family. Thank God we found a great doctor elsewhere who sucessfully treated our son. Always listen to your instincts.

I am bipolar and have endured numerous psychiatrists and numerous hospitalizations. I had heard negative comments before Dr. Addleman became my psychiatrist but it didn't take long for me to realize that is one of the best. He always took time to listen, explained all my medications and referred me back to my family doctor four years ago when he felt I was stabilized. I can't speak too high of this psychiatrist. His manner may put some people off but we were always on the same wavelength.

Knowledgeable doctor but very unhelpful, never on time, and doesn't work well with young adults. If you're unhappy, seek a second opinion as this doctor can sometimes let his personal feelings get in his way of making accurate diagnoses.

Be very careful and observant of your family members seeking treatment from him.Everyone deserves treatment with dignity and respect no matter what their disease is.

This man literally saved my mother's life. She has bipolar disorder and was on a downward spiral when he was recommended to her. I don't know about their visits but I am eternally grateful that he turned her life around. No psychiatrist can be every patient's "cup of tea" but this man certainly helped our family.

Appears to like to hear himself talk as he only listens to himself. Shame on him!

This guy is an idiot, Diagnosed me with an eating disorder when I couldn't eat due to vomiting (later found to be due to a pelvic infection which caused me to lose an ovary at 17) had me admitted to the psych ward at 15, when I couldnt (he said "wouldn't) eat would lock me in my room, not allow the nurses to speak to me, not allow me to shower, to have any of my belongings...but in a feeding tube and ran in 2 cans of boost COLD at full speed after my not having eaten in months..which messed up my stomach. Then blamed me when i subsequently threw it up. I didn't even HAVE anorexia but even if I did that's no way to treat a 15 year old needing help..told my parents if they signed me out he'd have me put in foster care...they finally ignored his empty threats and did sign me out against his advice due to my getting sicker, and I spent 3 months in a medical ward on IV feedings recovering from the severe malnutrition I'd developed from 3 months of mistreatment under his "care"

Dr. Addleman treated my mother for about 8 weeks. He would not listen to anything she had to say and he thought that he knew my mother better than she knew herself. I could not believe that he dismissed her symptoms, which have been affecting her 13 years, as imaginary. He told her she should 'get a life'. He is the most unprofessional and rude person i have ever met. I cant believe he is allowed to interact with other human beings in need of compassion and care. Dr.Addleman disgusts me and i believe his license should be revoked.

He knows his books but he doesn't know mental illness. His tough love was cruel for a patient at his or her darkest hour and I have seen a lot of people suffer for years under his care. A smart man that perhaps should have stuck to research and not human interaction.

My son was mentally sick for about two years before even seeing a doctor. He did see Addleman at first and got no help. I and other family members have taken him to emergency but was always turned away. Also the city police and the RCMP also were turned away with my son. The RCMP called me at home several times, they could not believe the DECH would not admit my son. No insurance company was used. We had to go to another hospital in NB to get the needed services. I felt like the scum of the earth, Dr. Addleman could not even talk to me. Thank God I never trusted his opinion.

I went to Dr Addleman when I was a real mess with an anxiety disorder. He helped me and I've been feeling better ever since.

This DR. had me in a mental spin for years until I went to the Head of MEntal health in Fredericton, filed a complaint and finally got Dr. Bhargava!! HE is on his own personal agenda for Psychiatry Greatness and has no idea how to treat mental illness or mental illness patients..

I found Dr. Addelman very abrupt and rude. I was referred to him from my own psyciatrist for a consult after sufferring severe depression for several years, and being admitted to the ward several times, and going through ECT (electro convulsive therapy) After sitting in his office with he and another student pshc. for about 5 minutes and telling him of the symptoms I've had, he said to "get a life"! I was so upset I just left his office went back to my psyciatrist, told him what was said. My doctor told me he was like that, and Addelman called his technique. 'Tough Love". I hope to never see him again, although it's hard not to when you are admitted to the ward for weeks on end.Nothing good to say about his "technique" at all

Dr Addleman is one of the most competent professionals I have ever worked with. He is friendly. He helped me resolve my issues to the point that he could refer me to a family doctor for follow-up. His 'bed-side' as well as office treatments were effective. What else can you ask for?

I found this doctor on a real power trip , which unfortunatley didn't help at the time, after several months of wasted therapy, our relationship was terminated very abruptly, being discharged from 2SE without any follow up, medication, in my terms not very professional

He is the new chief of psych at Chalmers since 2000, when Dr. Paul Perry resigned. Dr. Addleman runs a strange ship. He is "too far above me", unapproachable, loves to throw parties for his staff, and well, the black gown thing. Patients in isolation rooms were being arrayed in black gowns (rather than the normal "blue") the last time I was there in 2002. It made me wonder. They might be doing that so they can identify the high risk patients from the others; however, knowing mental illness as I do, I think it's a horrible idea. When you are that ill, having to wear a black gown may not be very reassuring. It's pretty strange. I've been in other psych wards that feel prison-like. That's the only good thing I can say about 2SE at Chalmers. It has a "freer" environment. You can go make toast or a coffee. It has a homey feeling. I am just not crazy about him.
