:) Click to report rating *  6/26/09 5 5 4 Like a previous patient, I am also quite to see such hyper-negative reviews. To be straightforward, she is not a warm and fuzzy person, but she is exceedingly pleasant, professional, and very clinical. I've gone to her for the past 4 years, at least twice a year (2x/yr checkups + incidents), and I have never found her rude or condescending. Brutally honest, yes, but for my doctor, I prefer that to sugar-coating. I very much enjoy her extremely competent staff, welcoming office (b/c a trip to the gyno is never fun), and timeliness. I NEVER wait around for more than 5 minutes. I highly recommend her to my coworkers.

:( Click to report rating *  5/14/09 1 4 1 She conducts herself in a very arrogant manner towards her patients. Details are too personal too share online. I have never written an online review but she definitly deserves one. I don't think she has been trained well enough to counsel patients when any medical issue arises. She does not make or receive phone calls. Totally obnoxious!!!! She is getting a very bad reputation around the city, even among other physicians. DO NOT pay for her services.

:( Click to report rating *  4/20/09 3 4 2 Dr. Meimaris wanted to remove my uteris to remove my fibroids. The three doctors I went to after her all said that that was completely unnecessary. Even after telling her, again and again, that I planned on having children one day, she kept on telling me that there was no need for the uteris, it served no purpose etc...She just would not listen to me at all. I would never recommend her.

:( Click to report rating *  3/26/09 5 2 1 I saw Dr. Meimaris a little bit over a year ago and will not see her again. I find her to be cold, insensitive and removed. She is very clinical.

:| Click to report rating *  3/10/09 2 5 2 I have never walked out of the middle of an appointment with a physician but my second visit to this office ended this way. As others have shared, the first visit was very pleasant. The summary of my experience was that as long as I did not ask any questions about treatment her demeanor was pleasant, but when I asked why I was having the second ultrasound in a matter of weeks and why she was suggesting a panel of blood work done after trying a birth control that a large percentage of patients stop taking due to breakthrough bleeding, it seemed I offended the doctor. I explained I was concerned about costs as my insurance only covered 1/2 of the first bill which was approximately $700. When I asked if blood work was necessary, her response was that I could have a brain tumor or thyroid problems and we needed to rule these out. This seemed extreme. This was not what I expected and hope to find a new GYN who is willing to listen & address my concerns.

:| Click to report rating *  3/9/09 4 5 3 I generally had an ok experience with Dr. Meimaris when it came to just a routine appointment, however when asking her specific questions, I wasn't offered much help. I found I had done more research on topics like the pill then she had to offer me. The negative experience I encountered was with a billing issue, after only a month or so they sent my account to collections when the error was in part their mistake. My insurance company was overbilled and then they overbilled me. The accountant was rude and was the reason I decided to find another gyn.

:( Click to report rating *  2/19/09 2 3 1 Dr. Meimaris seems competent but is quite condescending and dismissive. She doesn't answer questions directlY (if at all), pushes prescription drugs over over-the-counter for minor situations, and speaks to patients like they are children. While she seems reasonably competenet, she is so dismissive that she doesn't truly listen to complaints about specific health problems, which could mean she dismisses important concerns. I have never felt so upset with a doctor, and will not return. I see that I am echoing comments that have been made since 2006 or earlier. I highly recommend that prospective patients go elsewhere.

:( Click to report rating *  2/5/09 1 1 1 Horrible. Went to her more than once, trying to make it work and not wanting to be too picky. She hurt me, made me cry, and then insulted me for getting upset. She couldn't answer any of my questions, always gave a vague response and she refused to include my husband, despite our request BEFORE the visit. Her staff are rude and cold, like her. WORST DOCTOR IN NY.

:) Click to report rating *  2/3/09 5 5 5 I have to say that I am so, So, SO very surprised to see such negative comments about Dr. Meimaris. After I left her office for my annual exam and went to work, I couldn't stop myself from bragging to my female (and some male!) co-workers about what a knowledeable, lovely, and professional OBGYN she was. Her office is calming and seemingly new and her staff were also very professional. She even has a TV with video of a Caribbean beach and waves which was nice during the actual (usually uncomfortable) exam. She was VERY nice and I thought she was absolutely the best OBGYN I have been to in 10 years. I can see how someone could see her as being abrasive, but I really liked her straight up and upfront attitude. She is absolutely wonderful and won't go to anyone else, EVER.

:) Click to report rating *  1/21/09 5 5 5 Dr. Meimaris is the best gynecologist in NYC. She is very punctual with her appts, very knowledgeable. She is always there to answer all my questions. After 3 1/2 years of marriage, I am looking to get pregnant, Dr Meimaris is helping me to reach this goal. She asked me to lose weight because I am overweight--she referred me to a nutrionist. I took several blood tests and fertility test to make sure that it was nothing wrong with me. She wants to make sure when it is time of my gift from God, I am in my best health conditions ever. She also asked my husband for fertility test (semen test). Ultimately, Dr. Meimaris always make feel comfortable. She is very professional and my personal opinion, she is the best doctor I ever have in NY. I love you, DR. Meimaris and Thank you so much for everything. I am still dreaming with my baby on my arms. I know now this is possible because you are with me. Thanks again

:( Click to report rating *  1/11/09 4 5 1 I was shocked by her unprofessional comments. First time in my life I was treated like a brainless person. Luck of emotion, fake smile, little knowledge. It was one of the worst experiences.

:| Click to report rating *  10/6/08 5 5 3 I have to agree with all the negative comments. I brushed her arrogance off because her staff was exceptional & the location. I left her 5mos into my 1st pregnancy. What a terrible experience! She was happy, but that was to cover up her lack of knowledge. She answered questions vaguely, never had another person present during exams and never included my husband. I felt I was going to a modeling agency. Her concern was for my weight not my baby. The last visit pushed me; I gained 10lbs that month, a total of 26lbs in 5mos of pregnancy. She made me feel terrible, not normal. She didn't approach the matter nicely nor did she listen that I follow a diet from a Nutritionist (I see every 6 weeks) she ordered me “Not to eat” “Just take your prenatal vitamins and water, that’s it” "stop eating pasta". I don't eat pasta! Just because I'm Italian doesn't mean I eat pasta! I left her office crying, I didn’t eat for 2 days & became ill. Dr Natalia needs to seriously change her practicing manors.

:( Click to report rating *  9/27/08 1 1 1 I went to see Dr Meimaris about a fibroid and ovarian cysts after being referred by my gp. I had a bad reaction to a pain killer given to me for pain from the cysts/fibroid. By the time I got to her office I was vomiting every 30 minutes and very unwell. She was rough with the exam (my very first ever - I was not sexually active before marriage) and ultrasound, and as a result, I started to cry. She reacted by saying that she would walk out, leaving the equipment inside me, if I didn't stop crying like a child. She sent me off to have a ct scan that day but gave me nothing for the vomiting so the scan was inconclusive. On this basis she decided to order me into explorative surgery. I said no. Later that day I ended up having to go hospital via emergency to be treated for the drug-reaction. While I was in hospital I had a ct again and it was found that no surgery was required. I am an ivy league educated lawyer and did not warrant being treated by her like an idiot child.

:( Click to report rating    7/30/08 3 4 1 Having Dr. Meimaris as my obgyn for my first pregnancy was horrible. Agreed, clean environment (almost sterile looking - abt 3 pictures of babies in her office)and a big smile. However, it ends there. She has a natural ability to make you feel beneath her. Dr. Meimaris requested that my husband & I see a genetic specialist (I was 35) to see if we wanted to have genetic screening done. After hearing that

:) Click to report rating    7/15/08 3 4 4 I have to write something because I am devastated that Dr Meimaris does not accept my new insurance. She has been the best OB/GYN I have ever had and I am so sad I can not go to her anymore. She has fit me in numerous times at last minute notice, and I have always felt extremely comfortable and impressed by her competence. I have recommended her to numerous friends and they all agree with me

:(      7/8/08 5 5 1 I have to say that this doctor has the worst bedside manner I have ever experienced. At first visit I had some questions and she just smiled wide and said ok ok and she didn't answer them and seemed to be insulted and made me feel stupid when I went to ask for more. She did not do an internal examination either. After that because she was close I was going to go back. She would not call me but made her girls keep doing so. The 2nd and last time visiting her she walked in the room with wide smile but had NO knowledge to give me medical details on a question and then outright said (when I said I was nervous) in a indirect but sarcastic way that if I remained nervous it didn't help her. I do not at all feel good with this doctor. It is outragous and why she only takes 1 insurance now.

:) Click to report rating    7/4/08 5 5 5 Dr. Meimaris is the best Obgyn ever. I have been going to her for the past three years and have loved every visit. I appreciate the care I receive and she has seen me through a few complications. I totally trust her advice and opinion.

:( Click to report rating    7/1/08 3 3 1 I contacted my insurance company as soon as I got back from my appointment with this doctor if you can call her that. Not only did I receive a letter over the weekend stating that I tested positive for HPV but that it was a high risk strain and if left untreated could cause cervical cancer. First of all, the office should have called to say that the doctor would care to speak with me even if on the phone. Instead I was panicked over the weekend seeking my other friends who were doctors and the internet for any information. When I met with her an hour ago on Monday, I asked as to why they would not call and she basically said cause that is how she does it. I asked her for more info on HPV and she said no. All I needed to do is come back in at 4 months and get retested. I asked her what happens if the strain is still there, she said she would worry about it at that time. She has no bedside manner and all that fake cheeriness was no longer seen. Does she know anything about the virus?

:( Click to report rating    6/22/08 1 4 1 Dr.Meimarus has clean, fancy offices and is on time, but that's where the pleasant experience ends. I am trying to get pregnant and only after the third time seeing her did I realize that her strange, overly friendly attitude is 100% insincere. She doesn't care about her patients, doesn't listen or answer questions and doesn't take phone calls. She is not open-minded and pushes prescription medicine more than any other doctor I know. After my third visit, for the first time in my life I walked out of a doctor's office crying! Appearances can be deceiving, and this is definitely one of those cases.

:|      6/20/08 1 4 1 Dr. Memaris office has a problem with clients contacting Dr. Meimaris - even if you stress urgency in the call / or suggest leaving a message for Dr. Meimaris to return your call in a time that is convenient to her. I know this issue must have been presented to her by others. Her receptionist led me to believe that her time is not for returning calls. Its like saying - if you have a question make an appointment. I have never had this experience with a doctor before, until Dr. Meimaris. I believe being a doctor there are things you have to remember and make part of your practice to be successful like humaritian, ethics, values, respect, .....Dr. Meimaris is very knowkedge, a great doctor in her medical field .... but client ethics needsto be improves immensley. I personally believe it is her office staff that has been creating this problem and Dr. Meimaris is not aware of the situation.

:) Click to report rating    6/19/08 5 5 5 Dr. Meimaris is a knowledgeable, methodical, gifted physician with impeccable bedside manners. I have been a patient of hers for three years and look forward to every visit. She has delivered my two children and I went through prenatal care with her with clockwork precision. She is gentle, polite, cheerful, and an extrovert. So let me see, I have an Obgyn who is adorable, totally attuned to my needs, practices in an immaculately clean and beautifully appointed office, I can see my sonograms live on an overhead monitor in the exam room, I am seen on-time every time I visit, greeted by polite and friendly staff, my prescriptions are typically filled in a matter of a few hours, my test results are emailed to me, and my primary care physician is routinely updated with my progress notes and updates from my visits. Is there more one could ask for?

:( Click to report rating    6/10/08 2 4 1 Like many of the previous posts, Dr. Meimaris treated me as a child with condescending answers when I asked questions. She was recommended by a friend who was impressed by the cleanliness of the office. After my last visit with Dr. Meimaris, I was so turned off by her attitude that I decided never to return again. I spoke with my friend who recommended her and learned that she too has left for the same reasons.

:) Click to report rating    6/10/08 5 5 5 Dr. Meimaris is a fantastic doctor and I have recommended her to several friends. She is up on the latest technology, has returned phone calls personally, made herself available in urgent situations and has a great disposition. Some people have pegged her as condescending but I believe they are confused and that she is genuinely trying to set people at ease - not trying to treat them like children. She is especially great during pregnancy - I am a bit of a hypochondriac as it is and she always kept me calm and reassured. I am very happy with Dr. Meimaris, her immaculate office and friendly staff.

:( Click to report rating    5/6/08 1 4 1 I have recently had to switch because she is now only accepting one or two insurance companies. At first I felt she was a knowledgeable enough, although I agree with many people she does not give detailed information if you ask for more in depth answers. I would not recommend her and feel this is more of a business than medical doctor, in hearing I would not continue with Dr.Meimaris, because she no longer accepts my insurance and I can not afford to pay out of pocket the approx. 350$ per visit charge, she would not take my calls in reference medical need for her to fill an emergency prescription for an existing condition I have-which she has documentation of-an assistant told me, even after I told them my new gyn is scheduled for one month away-I would have to go to the emergency room!!! I feel this is totally unethical medical practice. She has a very nice office and pleasant disposition and that is about all I would be able to say about this doctor in a positive light.

:( Click to report rating    5/2/08 4 4 1 I went to Dr. Meimaris a few years ago when my regular ob/gyn was retiring and I needed to find someone who took my insurance. It was truly the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor. First, the nurse who took my blood blew out my vein. When I complained to Dr. Meimaris after the blood was drawn that my arm didn't feel right, she just blew it off. By the end of the day, my arm was lined with bruises and was extremely sore. I had to visit my regular physician to find out what happened and had to go on antibiotics to make sure I did not get an infection. The follow-up appt. with Dr. Meimaris was the clincher. She dismissed absolutely every question I had for her and told me that I needed to go into surgery immediately for a problem that my previous ob/gyn had been watching for years. This problem had previouslybeen looked at in depth for years by no less than two experts at Columbia Presbyterian who said that surgery would be rash and irresponsible. Dr. Meimaris did not want to

:) Click to report rating    4/27/08 5 5 5 Dr. Meimaris is a fantasticly warm and personable physician. I have been a patient for a long time and impressed with the electonic medical records system at her office and the manner in which test results are reported: on time, well written, and on patient request (i am one) emailed. I also appreciate the timely pap due reminders.

:( Click to report rating    4/25/08 4 3 1 Never checked medical tests and got back to me with negative news. She ended up reporting these results to me six months later when she noticed them accidentaly during a routine visit - pathetic. She is lazy and arrogant.

:( Click to report rating    4/18/08 3 5 1 Dr. Meimaris demonstrated no respect for patients' autonomy; she lets her personal beliefs take precedence over her patients' requests. A friend of mine and I went together. She gave me a referral for a plastic surgeon even though I expressed my personal opposition to cosmetic surgery. She wouldn't let a friend of mine go off medication even though she complained of unpleasant side effects. She was reluctant to prescribe me medication even though it would have been beneficial to my health, though she did eventually prescribe it. Her office puts a lot of pressure to come in for a 6 month follow-up, even though visits are considered medically recommended/necessary annually.

:) Click to report rating    4/6/08 5 5 5 Dr. Meimaris is an outstanding physician: highly intelligent, knowledgeable, articulate, and gentle, with great bedside manner and a pleasure to see every time I go to visit. :( Click to report rating    3/24/08 4 4 2 She is pleasant, yes, but in a condescending manner, treating you like you are a child and not being able to answer the most basic questions about simple things like Human Papilloma Virus or adscribing a yeast infection to poor cleaning habits when going to the bathroom, I mean, that was ludicrous. I have a PhD level education and she could not say anything that was of use to me, she was not even up to date with a much touted new birth control system that was all over the news for days. Would not trust her with anything serious...

:( Click to report rating    3/4/08 5 5 1 Dr. Meimaris is not a good doctor if you have any medical concerns or require treatment. She does not appreciate questions. Having completed research on my own, I brought a few questions as to the side effects of the medication I had been prescribed. She did not feel that my questions dignified or response - she said they were baseless. She is the type of doctor that believes most symptoms are just "in your head". Patients that are informed about their conditions and want a doctor to discuss treatment options should go elsewhere.

:) Click to report rating    2/15/08 5 5 5 I was referred to Dr. M after I was diagnosed with an endometrial polyp. During my first visit with I was impressed with her comforting demeanor. During our initial consult I was told that she would like to perform a biopsy of the polyp- to be scheduled after the exam. During the exam she discovered a growth in my cervix, she explained that this would need to be taken care of before the biopsy. On the Friday after this appointment I received a letter stating that I had an abnormal Pap - I spent the weekend in a tizzy as I felt it was irresponsible to receive this type of news in a letter and was determined to never see her again. Long story short I decided to stay with Dr. M- I have since had two pain-free procedures and while there was anxiety surrounding both she completely put me at ease- it is obvious that she cares deeply about her patients- she hugged me afterwards. After reading this website I was ready to discount her-please do not make the same mistake- she is wonderful.

:) Click to report rating    1/5/08 5 5 5 There is a saying “by the work you know the worker” and likewise “by the post you know the poster”. The previous post (01/04/08) is indicative of a person without dignity and self respect. I was a patient of Dr. Meimaris for two years until I moved to Boston. I am a real example of how Dr. Meimaris, with her ever present smile and cheerful demeanor responds to serious problems and deals with difficult and life impacting situations. I would like everyone to know that where it not for Dr. Meimaris’ expertise, early diagnosis , counsel, availability, diligence, meticulous attention to detail, and follow ups, I would be suffering from cancer of the uterus today at the age of 28. Luckily, I had Dr. Meimaris to take care of me. Having read the previous post, I felt compelled to write, although I am an extremely private person.

:( Click to report rating    10/26/07 5 5 2 yes office is gorgeous and staff are wonderful but she is horrendous. talked to me like i was a child. seemed resistant to having my mother attend a consultation on a serious medical condition that scared me to death. and then when i got pregnant, lied and said i was high risk just so she could refer me to another doctor. sickle cell trait is NOT a high risk for pregnancy. i want to write a complaint against her because i think she was not only short and rude to me but she didn't let my boyfriend come in to see ultrasound and abruptly gave me number of a new doctor. sigh. so happy that i'm not the only one who could not stand this woman.

:( Click to report rating    10/12/07 4 4 1 Upon meeting Dr Meimaris for the first time, I was so glad that I thought I had found a great doctor based on how nice and clean the office looked. However, after our exam, which lasted only a short 10 minutes, she said "okay, you are done" before I even got a chance to ask her some questions. Then she came back as the nurse went to get her, and she talked to me for less than a minute, and rudely said " I have to go" . She seemed very impatient and nonchalant about her patient's health, offering very little advice. Moreover, she completely disregarded my other doctor's diagnosis of my case, and did not want to look at any of the materials that the other doctor provided her with. I would strongly advise to stay away from her practice as she may mis-diagnose or overlook important things. I am booking my appointment with a much more competent and intelligent doctor than Dr. Meimaris. Don't be fooled by her smile and appearance, that does not mean she is a good doctor!

:( Click to report rating    10/8/07 5 5 1 I had heard good things about Dr. M, but after my first visit I decided not to return. I found her tone and attitude in general to be very condescending. She answers direct questions in a very indirect way as though she’s speaking to a child. For a yearly exam I’m sure she’s fine, but I wouldn’t want to deal with her if it was anything important.

:) Click to report rating    10/4/07 5 5 5 I have been a patient of Dr. Meimaris for three years and consider myself fortunate have found her. I also happen to be an AETNA member and found Dr. Meimaris on the Aetna website. Contrary to astonishingly ignorant and vitriolic remarks in some of the previous posts, Dr. Meimaris has an Aexcel Blue Star rating – a blue star next to her name - on the Aetna website. Aetna confers this status symbol on a physician after methodical analysis of clinical his/her performance– reviewing every diagnosis s/he has made and every test ordered for hundreds of patients over a period of months. Only if the physician meets Aetna’s standards for clinical performance and efficiency would s/he receive a Blue Star Designation. I highly recommend Dr. Meimaris to anyone who is comfortable in her own skin - you would get honest, straight, no nonsense, and unvarnished advice.

:( Click to report rating    10/3/07 2 4 1 Terrible! At first I was taken with her nice office and smile, but she's astonishingly incompetent. I can’t go into the specifics in this limited box. To summarize: she ordered the wrong test, disregarded my symptoms, failed to diagnose and again ordered the wrong test! When I questioned her she was rude. She’s a malpractice lawsuit waiting to happen. Do NOT let it be you!! I’m going to someone else. I do not trust her.

:| Click to report rating    10/2/07 4 5 2 She uses a tone that is very pedantic. I am a grown, educated woman and do not need to be spoken to like a 5 year old. More importantly, she is very curt and short in answering questions. She made me feel like my questions were mere annoyances. She did not allow my husband to come in to have a discussion with her when I wanted him to. I am only sticking with her until I can find someone else that comes highly recommended. TERRIBLE bedside manner. She made me cry and then threatened not to do my procedure unless I stopped being emotional.

:| Click to report rating    9/10/07 2 1 2 Ihave been with her for over 3 years. She was my first and only OBGYN since I moved to New York. I didn't really have a chance to compare as much and was kind of happy to see "always smile" face of my OBGYN. My first concerned started, when she officiale told me, that she doesn't return calls. He stuff does-). Why do I have to talk with anybody from her stuff as secretary or nurse if I choosed her to be my OBGYN?!. When I decided to get pregnant, I started to worry more...All my questions during lasts visits about what should I know about pregnancy and what should I do to concive a Healthy Baby. She just "brushed off"..replying to me as "when you'll get pregnant let's talk about that". During last appointment I was full of he errogance and attitude. She refused my husband to be with me in the room to discuss our concerns. She made my cry..she didn't even try to comfort me when I was so upset. She just a full of crap. Stay away from her...

:) Click to report rating    8/20/07 5 5 5 The best obgyn I have ever known. Just had my second baby with Dr. Meimaris in July. She is always on top of the issues. Always makes sure appropriate prenatal tests are ordered and results are analyzed. Pays particular attention to health, weight and well being of the mother. Her staff make sure prenatal visits are methodically scheduled and followed up on. She is always available and a joy to be with. I have the highest regards for Dr. Meimaris and her advice.

:(   *  8/20/07 2 5 1 I had been a patient of NM for over three years and at 29 years old I had always expressed concern over being 20 pounds overweight. NM had always assured me that I was perfectly healthy, normal cholesterol, perfect blood pressure, I eat healthy and work out 3-4 days a week and we anxiously awaited for my husband and I to decide we were ready to start a family. When I came to her with the decision that we were ready she refused work with us any longer unless I got lap band surgery to remove the excess weight. I was startled as I am far from obese. And that very same day she gave me this news she wanted me to go to her doctor 'friend' in her buidling to discuss getting the surgery asap. Needless to say I go to new doctor now. This was quite a shamefull experience for me as I had always been very comfortable in my own skin and she ruined my self confidence with her horrible attitude that took me completely by surpirse since I had know here so long.

:| Click to report rating    8/10/07 3 3 3 If all you need is pleasant surroundings then go here - the offices are lovely. I was with Dr Meimaris for a year, but left soon after I fell pregnant. While she may be knowledgeable, she did not give me a good sense of well-being. I felt that I was imposing each time I asked a question, and heaven forbid if I went into labor at an incovenient time. She was argumentative about details of a past appointment, did not let my husband in the examination room and was very condescending about most things. When her office moved, nobody had the courtesy to notify me of the move.

:(      7/27/07 1 1 1 Dr. M. performed a colcoscopy on me and 5 days after my procedure I'm still bleeding (as of this very moment). I called b/c I was concerned and she offered me an app., which I had missed. Then her office manager called to ask me not to come back to her just b/c I simply missed my app. I went to see a diff. doctor who examined my bleeding and addressed that she not only made an unusually deep cut (it's not a cone biopsy, just colcoscopy, which's supposed to be a tiny sample of abnormal tissue), the clamps that she used to secure my biopsy site left my cervix bleeding and since Dr. M. refused to see me and finish what she started, I needed to make yet ANOTHER emergency visit to someone else. I understand that missing an app. could cause her some trouble, but she should have carried her professional ethics as a doctor who's responsible for what she's performed, not to mention leaving a continuously bleeding patient alone. Major problem in the office management.

:) Click to report rating    6/30/07 5 5 5 I have been seeing Dr. Meimaris for two years on recommendation from my OBGYN of twenty years who retired in 2005. I am forever grateful for his kind and insightful referral. I have found Dr. Meimaris to be exceptionally knowledgeable, insightful, and at top of her profession with accurate, precise and prescient advice. I highly recommend DR. Meimaris to anyone looking for a top notch OBGYN, beautiful and relaxing office environment, kind and caring staff.

:( Click to report rating    6/29/07 5 5 1 Dr Meimaris is a phony. She has been trained to smile and soothe patients w/ her tone, but underneath the polished bedside manner, she is extremely impatient & uncaring. It's no wonder her new office is so beautiful-it's b/c she only cares about making a buck & spending as little time with her patients as possible. A few weeks ago, I went in to see her. I was so worried about some symptoms I was experiencing. Every question I asked was met with a smirk & a condescending, dismissive answer. She brushed off EVERY concern I had and (with that patronizing smile) exasperatinlgy scolded me for asking too many ?'s. She talked over me when I spoke of my symptoms & kept repeating her initial guess, not for a second considering it could be anything else. She gave me a prescription for what she thought it was and sent me on my way with that chipper, fake Mrs. Doubtfire voice. Went to another dr who properly diagnosed me. Meimaris was completely off. Only + is that her staff is very sweet and kind

:) Click to report rating    4/20/07 5 5 I love Dr. Meimaris and have refered her to countless friends. She delivered my first child and I have to say, I once I delivered my son, I actually missed seeing Dr. Meimaris & her staff each week. Sadly, she is no longer taking my health insurance . . .

:) Click to report rating    4/18/07 4 3 I have been a patient of Dr. Meimaris for about 2 1/2 yrs. I have never had any issues concerning the doctor herself. I think she is very helpful to me and she is concerned with my health. The office is fabulous. I enjoy the plasma tv's in all the examination rooms. My main complaint is with one of her staff members. She must be new because I have never had this issue before. I had called regarding an irregular pap smear. She told me of her personal experience and what procedures she had done. She offered medical advice. Apart from it being embarrassing to have to call regarding an irregular pap smear I also had to share the humiliation with the receptionist.I do not think it is appropiate for a receptionist to offer any medical advice or to share past expecriences unless we have a differnt type of relationship. The situation made me feel very uncomfortable.

:(      4/17/07 3 1 I am a healthcare professional. She treated me as a child and would not allow me to ask any questions. Acted as though she was offended if I asked questions; the only time I had to ask questions was when I was on my back, legs in stirrups -- not much equivalence in the relationship. She rolled her eyes at me because I told her I was bleeding and therefore did not remove my underwear (she had been told by phone about my concerns before the appt). Refused to provide alternatives to her prescribed treatments, did not discuss in detail issues around procedure and anesthesia but insisted I sign a consent form that stated I had been told what the potential issues and problems could be. She also missed my chief complaint!

:(      3/29/07 5 1 at first all my experineces where postive , but after i missed an appt. that all changed i went to see her for an Emergency and yes she was able to see me right away for a total of ten minutes and half that time was spent going over why i missed my appt... when i told her her staff had my address wrong this seem to enrage her which i thought insenstive i was in there crying and she did not say one word to me about any of the things i was asking her ..as a woman i could not belive what was happening i could go into more detail but there's a limit ..i WOULD TELL EVERYONE TO STAY AWAY FROM HER she seems to be concerned with only money . She does not return calls and i had to follow up .. even then the results and questions answered by her staff seem vague and confusing STAY CLEAR .

:)      2/7/07 5 5 I am a patient of Dr. Meimaris. My job requires extensive international travel. As a matter of fact I am writing this post half way around the world from NYC. Dr. Meimaris is an incredible physician and in great demand. Sometimes it takes a few weeks to get an appointment for a regular check up. However, in CASES OF EMERGENCY one can always get a same day appointment - at least that has been my experience. I also appreciate her not taking phone calls during the day as I would want my physician's undivided attention while she is with me.

:)      1/12/07 5 5 Dr. Meimaris is a gem...in my four years with her I've waited only once, and she apologised profusely. I've referred 10 people to her and they love her too. She listens to concerns about all areas of the body and she's very thorough, proactively referring me for a mamogram to Columbia Presbyterian which was a GREAT facility as well.

:)      12/9/06 5 5 She is one of the best there is. She is brilliant kind and funny. My husband and I adored her, so did my son. She gave me hope and was extremely knowledgeable about PCOS...which so many doctors are not. I have had experience with other fertility specialists and they don't even come near the quality of service she provides.

:) Click to report rating    11/14/06 5 5 Before my apt. I was somewhat concerned reading some of these reviews, however I couldn't be more pleased with my experiences with Dr. Meimaris. I've seen her about 5 times now, and every time she is very punctual, warm, friendly and thorough. Her staff has always been very kind and helpful as well. Dr. Meimaris makes you feel very comfortable and sincerely cares about your health. I'm extremely satisfied with my experience and would readily recommend her.

:(      9/23/06 4 1 I first saw Dr. Meimaris in 2005. I had been to several doctors regarding a cyst on my left ovary and finally decided to have surgery. After meeting with Dr. Meimaris, I was impressed by her friendliness and the efficiency of her office. I had the surgery to remove the left cyst in November 2005 and to my surprise, Dr. Meimaris also removed my left ovary. I accepted that until I started talking to GYN specialists regarding a cyst that popped up on my right ovary six months after the surgery. Since April 2006, serious questions have been raised by other doctors and radiologists about why Meimaris removed my left ovary, and even scarier if the cyst on my right ovary was present during the 2005 surgery. Meimaris' solution was to send me to an oncologist. I saw her in early Sept, since I may require another surgery. She still couldn't give me a clear answer why she removed the ovary and admitted she could have missed the right cyst. I'm filing a complaint. I think she's negligent!

:)      9/10/06 5 5 I have been a patient of Dr. Meimaris since she started her practice in Manhattan. She delivered my first baby and I am now going through my second pregnancy with her. She is a wonderful, caring, and methodical physician with an immaculately clean and modern office and courteous staff. I have never had to wait to be seen, or get my prescriptions filled – this is the only practice that I know of that sends prescriptions within hours - or questions answered, and very much appreciated being referred to the best physicians in town for ultrasounds. The previous poster mentions NYU as Dr. Meimaris’ alma mater, if she looked at the diploma’s on her office wall she would have noticed that she received her MD and DO degrees from Boston University and New York Medical College.

:(      9/9/06 2 2 At first I thought she was wonderful, but then when I became pregnant she wouldn't let a close friend into the room with me for support, and she perscribed vitamins that cost $140 a bottle (only 3 months worth) and when I said that I couldn't afford them she didn't take me seriously and wouldn't percribe an alternative, and insists on sending me to an nyu specialist (her former school) for all my ultrasounds when I have absolutely no complications or risks. I recently recieved a very high bill for the last appt at nyu where I had been told that all those services were covered under my insurance. I feel exploited by her, as she seems more interested in catering to her alma mater and to the drug companies than in what I really need. On top of that, she is ALWAYS rushing and never seems interested in my concerns, and because this is a huge first time life event for me, she should take those concerns seriously. I am seriously considering changing doctors even though I am 5 mo. pregnant.

:(      9/6/06 1 1 I was with Dr. Meimaris for couple years. Unfortunately, every single visit make me more and more disappointed. Maybe she is a knowledgeable Doctor, she always smiles widely, BUT this all doesn't give her a credit. Always have to wait for her, never returned calls, oh yes...her assistance returning calls...never came back with results, always have to call them back to follow up. Have to wait to get a simply prescription for a week. She has a nice personality, but I need a good Doctor, who will be available to return a phone call at least. Don't waist your time and money to scheduling appointment with her.

:)   *  8/2/06 5 5 Ms. Meimaris is an excellent doctor. She is friendly and more than willing and able to answer all questions and concerns, she has always been on time. The medical assistant was very friendly and nice also. It is true, that she spends a short amount of time with you, but she also makes sure to answer all questions before she runs off.

:)   *  7/28/06 3 4 I like Dr. Meimaris, she's very nice and attentive. My experience with her is overall good. Recently her receptionist forgot to give me a call to remind my appt. and because of that I was going to get charged for a cancellation. However, Dr. Meimaris, herself, took action and dismissed the cancellation fee. I was very impressed with the whole situation...

:(   *  7/26/06 1 2 Not punctual at all. Isn't clear with her answers. Very nice, but not knowledgable. Spends literally 5 to 10 minutes at most with you. Receptionist is horrible - gave me wrong appointment date and I was charged a canellation fee. I also referred a friend and she didn't like her either because of her briefness. Only good thing is that she takes a variety of insurances...Overall, not a good doctor.

:|      6/16/06 4 3 Please steer clear of this doctor. She has way too many patients and she is very scattered because of it,and she makes serious mistakes. She thought she was being funny, but she actually made fun of me because she could not figure out what was wrong with constant cervical discharge I had over a two-year period, as if it were my fault. Other scary things that happened - she put me on a drug that has blood thinning as a side effect and she almost put me into surgery while taking that drug, and I HAD to tell her that the drug acts as a blood thinner, which she admitted to. She also had her assistants give me an antibiotic once that she knows I'm very allergic to and when I told them up front, they would not change the prescription and they would not consult Dr. Meimaris about it. The scariest thing about that practice is that Dr. Meimaris has her receptionists tell you what to do in serious situations instead of calling you back herself.

:| Click to report rating    6/9/06 5 3 I think her rushing is something that has been happening recently. My friend referred her to me saying she was great but I experienced a rather rushed exit, as these later posts claim. The earlier posts dont seem to say such. I'm considering finding someone else.

:|      5/30/06 2 2 She is a good Doctor, but she has a problem with an amount of time which she has to spent with patient (5-10 min). I have been her patient for a more then 2 years and I'm afraid that I have to find another OBGYN who will give me more attention for the amount of money which insurance paid to her per visit.

:)      5/2/06 2 5 I'm seeing Dr. Meimaris for a couple of years already. She always been personable and knowledgeable. I like her personality a lot, that's maybe one of the reason why I stay with her all this years. The only 2 things I don't like about her: 1. she never return emergency call unless she think it's an emergency. 2. she always on rush. she spent barely 10 minutes with you and run away to see another patient. For the amount of money which DR. charge each patiend she could spent at lest 20-25 minutes with patient.

:(      4/18/06 3 2 this doctor is very quick to give a prescription to pregnant patients - even category c meds, which i found very sketchy. she seems warm at first and like she's really listening, but my second visit i found her to be cold and aloof. mid-pregnancy, i have switched doctors. her reputation around town is not great.

:) Click to report rating    4/13/06 5 5 Dr. Meimaris is the best GYN I've had since I've been in New York City. And believe me, I've been to quite a few. She performed a laparascopy on me in November 2005 and I believe she is a competent surgeon. My only complaint is that she, like most medical doctors, are not open to natural alternative methods when it comes to reproductive health. I have re-occuring ovarian cysts, and because of an ongoing issue with a cyst Dr. Meimaris removed my left ovary. Now I have a cyst on my right ovary, and I'm working with another GYN to get rid of that along with fibroids. And I agree that one of her assistants is clueless about taking blood. I've never had my arm swell up after having blood drawn and it's because she didn't know to take the pressure band off and ask me to release my fist after she started drawing the blood. So, I made of point to release my fist and ask her to remove the band the next time she drew blood. But for a general GYN, Dr. Meimaris' friendliness can't be beat.

:(      1/16/06 4 1 misdiagnosed and given dangerous antibiotics before my test results came back. she was so sure I had a uti, didnt even bother to ask my history which I thought was strange since obgyns usually do. did not listen when I told her I had already been tested for a uti and was negative by another doctor, and told her I had been given the antibiotics already as a precaution. after finishing 2 sets of antibiotics in a 2 wk period and still not being cured, I had to hassel them to get my urine test results back. when the test results came back negative for what she thought I had-a uti, again...she had nothing to say and was unwilling to help. a total waste of money and I still have a urinary problem....all she did was preform preventative measures, incidentally to collect the insurance money since it was completely unrelated to my problem. nothing was solved and I still dont have my pap test results 3 weeks later.

:)      8/24/05 4 5 She generally is a caring doctor. She is very gentle, very polite and seems to be knowledgeable. I would like though at this point to say that she neglected to test me for mumps, measles, and rubella - something that is considered standard procedure - when I first went to her practice, although she performed an array of blood tests on me and finally had me tested for the above mentioned diseases after I became pregnant, which is too late to do anything about those diseases at that stage. The stuff at the front desk are rude and arrogant, especially a new intern - a brunette - that was hired last month who clearly has attitude issues. In addition, the girl who does the blood drawing is totally clueless, caused me allot of unnecessary pain and doesn't have a clue on how to use the instrument that measures blood pressure...What a pity, because things like that create a not so good impression about Dr. Meimaris who allows all that to take place at her practice.
