I've been going to Dr Chornell for a tad shy of 20 years. His staff are fabulous! Very friendly, helpful and kind. I'm so appreciative of the stellar proffesional care I have had by him. It hurts me to read the negative comments! His retirement is well deserved! I'm selfishly sad to not see him anymore. Enjoy your retirement Gary!! Donna Sauve
I’ve been a patient of dr Chornell for 30+ years. I dread the day he retires. I have Sjogren syndrome & rheumatoid arthritis so extremely dry eyes. I also am on two RA meds that could cause issues with my eyesight. So he does in office tests to ensure health of my eyes. I used to have to get these done at Royal Alex hospital so grateful to get it all done at dr office. I’m also very grateful that he is guarding my health & his by not allowing unvaxxed patients into his office.
Been seeing Dr Chornell for a number of years. Never really cared for him but I don’t get my eyes checked often so I figured I’d tough it out. I made the decision I will not be back. I came in today without my glasses only to be scolded twice by him and the initial lady to do my eye exam. I’ve had the prescription since 2020 and not once was I told I needed glasses to drive. He mentioned something about reporting me. Also, he never speaks when you’re in the room with him, but never hesitates to hand out prescriptions. I also know he wasn’t taking unvaccinated patients for a while which is also a turnoff for me. The lady with the short brown hair at the front is quite nice though!
We have been going to this clinic for several years and never had an issue. Suddenly because we do not have the covid shot we have been turned away for a year now. They refuse to even let us in the clinic. Was happy until this happened. They just withhold services with this as an excuse
I had to go back and get my eyes rechecked because they made a mistake writing me the wrong prescription. He was dismissive the 1st and 2nd visit. From the 2nd visit he told me I had a swollen optical nerve (Papilledema) which can cause blindness and can indicate a blood clot in the brain, etc. and made an appointment for me to get a 2nd opinion with a Specialist. The Specialist said I didn’t have swelling and everything was normal. So it was a lot of worry for no reason. Dr Chornell and his team also gave my husband a wrong prescription as well and my husband needed to get his new eyeglasses re-done, and so did I. Dr. Chornell YOU NEED TO RETIRE!!! Incompetent Dr and staff.
Awful service with a doctor who looks like he got his license in the 1800’s. The guy barely seems to have a clue anymore and the women picking up the phone are snarky and rude. They’re receptionists at 50 years old yet can’t understand simple questions and get mad about it. Never recommending this place, shoulda been closed down start of this decade.
I've been seeing Dr Chornell for 30 years. He's an amazing eye doctor. I used to wear contact lenses but had an issue in 1995 (i think) and after seeing a doc at medicentre booked with dr chornell as i didn't trust the diagnosis of "pink eye". I was right to be leery. My eyes had become so dry that i was basically self creating eye infections. I wasn't happy to lose the contact lenses but Dr Chornell's care and follow ups were fantastic. Months later he told me that the extreme dryness of my eyes were possible indicator of an auto immune disorder and that i should be screened. His advice was poohpoohed by various family doctors over the years (i was sero negative) but golly gee...i was diagnosed with inflammatory arthritis in 2009! Now i see him twice a year to ensure that the meds i take for IA aren't ruining my vision. His office staff are great, i have never found him rude or dismissive. I think the folks with these negative reviews need to look in the mirro.
I just saw Dr.Chornell for the first time last wk and I was a bit nervous after reading a review that he is rude. Happy to report my experience could not have been further from this. My first interaction with the front staff was very pleasant (although I dread those drops that change your pupils :/). Dr Chornll took the time to listen to what I was having problems with. I actually felt heard (which seems to be a rarity now a days with doctors - so rushy). I'm assuming he could tell I was anxious about having trouble with my vision, cracked a few jokes to lighten the mood and got me into a specialist to look into my situation further. I felt welcomed in that office. It's a safe space, highly recommend.
Had a visit with Chornell today. Very rude and dismissive. This was a follow up visit since I requested one to ask a a few questions about vision problems. The office itself was very unwilling to set up a visit for any further questions. They only gave me an appointment when they were unable to answer my specific questions. He made no time to answer my questions. Did not examine my eyes. Staff was sarcastic and condescending as I left the office. He will not want to get to know you or your problems regarding your vision. This old man should retire. I think it is just too lucrative to stop.
Dr. Gary Chornell would not listen to my concerns. He asked for the short version. I have been diagnosed with high eye pressure and large optic nerve cupping in both eyes. He does not want to follow up and says I should talk to a reputable dispensary. He is very curt and dismisses my concerns about my vision. A rude man that I will NOT see again.
