11/10/13 5 5 5 5 Dr Corley is an extremely knowledgeable doctor. He is spot on with his diagnosis. He is very committed to the care of his patients and will do whatever it takes to find out the reason for your symptoms. He thinks outside of the box and is able to draw on his medical knowledge to try and find solutions to complex problems. Although he is a general practitioner I found him to be more knowledgeable than the majority of specialists we have seen. Do not be put off by his "bedside manner" as this shouldn't be the reason for rating a doctor. I am very impressed by this doctor's commitment to his patients and would recommend him to anyone who wants the best care a doctor can provide. He is straightforward and to the point and knows his stuff. It will be a very sad day when he retires. His receptionist is also awesome!!!! and helpful.  Respond

17/04/13 1 3 5 5 I really wanted to take the time to put in my two cents. STAFF = AWFUL - the receptionist is not very friendly and unapologetic even with major errors on their part- WOW, bad! Can't win em all... PUNCTUAL = standard... It would be amazing if things ran on schedule but I often make my appointments on Saturdays (yes they're open sat) for this reason. I will take a late aptm for the care I receive from Corely any day! HELPFULNESS - Dr. Corely is the only doctor I have ever seen that has made me truly feel like I have someone on my team, in my corner there to help on my path. I have a lot of health issues and I never feel rushed. Yes sometimes he'll want to try something. Do not mistake this for lack of knowledge. He knows its a trial and will happily discuss how it went after you return and work with you to find a solution that will work if what was tried didn't. Super charasmatic in my opinion... perhaps it depends on your personality? Fantastic doctor that Im dreading the retirement of.  Respond

06/11/12 5 5 5 5 Incredible! Yes, he is a little strange in some ways, & as someone previously commented, this may be a bit off-putting. But don't let this scare you away! He is a bastion of knowledge, is amazing at diagnosing & is willing to really do the leg work to rule things out & make sure you get the best care. I actually call up the walk-in clinic that he works in just to find out when he will be in, & then I travel half way across the city JUST to see him. I trust him, & if you engage him in regular conversation, you'll discover that he is also brilliant & funny. After 2 years of suffering with the same problem that at least 10-15 other doctors totally ignored & dismissed, within a couple of weeks he had me getting the right tests with the right doctors. I am currently getting treated for a pretty serious condition that was overlooked all this time! I also feel like I can be totally honest with him about my personal preferences/opinions/theories and he seriously takes them into consideration.  Respond

25/01/12 4 4 3 4 We have seen Dr. Corley in Cochrane for several things over the last couple of years, and I have mixed reviews on his performance. When he is "on", he is bang on. But when he is rushed, he can make quick choices that aren't necessarily the best ones. He is an excellent diagnostician with an endless amount of knowledge, and can take a crazy long time with patients in order to understand their history. However, other times he can make quick (and not necessarily accurate) judgements without taking the proper amount of time to assess all factors. He also definitely has some quirks that may be off-putting for some. With that said though, I'd still recommend him as a doctor, with the disclaimer that you need to be prepared to ask a lot of questions, and know a bit about what your talking about to make sure everyone stays on track with best treatment options.  Respond

20/01/12 5 5 5 4 I have visited Dr. Corley several times and have found him to be very helpful and takes plenty of time to answer my questions. I respect his schedule when there are other people behind me but he has been very generous with his own time when there are no other patients waiting to the point I almost feel guilty for eating into his lunch break. He has also helped an immediate family member near the end of life. We greatly appreciated his above-and-beyond help and compassion, even to the point of his making a house call. I have not heard of a doctor doing that in over 40 years!  Respond

17/04/11 1 1 1 1 After seeing him the second time, I realized he was very unprofessional. The first consultation took less than 3 mins. A few days later I visited him again because the drug he prescribed didn't work at all. He said there is no problem with his prescription. Later I found out from the pharmacy line that the drug he prescribed will not eliminate my problems but instead it will worsen my symptoms. Wrong prescription!!! I think he should not be a doctor at all. God helps those who go to him for help.  Respond

11/08/10 4 3 5 5 After looking for a family doctor for a number of years in Calgary, I came across Dr Corley for a driver's medical, which was priced very reasonable. Got along with him so decided to keep going back to the walk-in clinic when he was on. After a series of unfortunate events Dr Corley stuck with me, diagnosing everything dead on and treating appropriately. He may be a bit quirly at times (aren't we all though), but he is knowledgable and has the answers as long as you ask the questions (which is something a lot of people on here seem to forget). Please don't ever retire Dr Corley.  Respond

15/08/09 3 4 5 5 Dr. Corley has looked after three generations of our extended family for the past 20 years. I have always found him to be respectful, knowledgeable and caring. What I really appreciate is that he encourages his patients to voice an opinion in what they fill the best course of action should be. My greatest fear is that he will retire and leave myself, my husband, my children, my inlaws and my niece without a family physician.  Respond

07/07/09 1 1 1 2 "Doctor" Corley is incredibly cold & does not listen to the patient at all. I have now gone to him twice, not by choice, but rather because there was no choice in doctor at this clinic. He has never taken the time to hear all my symptoms & has carelessly prescribed me medications, on of which placed me in the hospital. I refuse to go back to the Mount Royal Medicentre any longer in fear of waiting hours to end up with him as my doctor.  See Responses

19/06/09 3 1 1 2 Gave me 30 seconds of his time after a 2 hour wait, was uneducated on the (commonly-prescribed) drug for which I needed a refill, did not ask pertinent questions and was generally abrupt, flippant and uninformed. NOT RECOMMENDED.  Respond

01/06/09 4 4 5 5 I have been a patient of Dr.Corley for about 10 years. I've always found him to be an incredible listener, leading to prescriptions and/or referrals to Specialists, which no other doctor in Calgary I've been to since 1975 saw fit to do. Even though my recommending Dr. Corley may increase my waiting time to see him I have no hesitation in doing so. Dr. Corley's diagnostic skills are, in my opinion second to none. His office/bedside manners are just what's needed in a poorly managed Health System - brief and to the point. To those who complain about his curtness and brevity in the office, think twice before you vote in the next Provincial election. Ralph's mantle is being worn very comfortably by Steady Eddie & Ron Liepert! Don't blame the Doctors - blame the system for the waiting times andoverworked practitioners  Respond

12/05/09 4 4 5 5 I am very impressed with Dr. Corley. He is the first doctor i've ever seen that's listened and taken action (ordered tests/exams). I'm so grateful to the Dr. for his care and concern. I am so used to doctors that would dismiss my symptoms.  Respond

25/07/08 5 5 5 5 Dr Corley is the best Doctor around. He takes a no nonsense approach and tells it like it is. He has gone beyond the call of duty for my family numerous times. All I ask is that the hypochondriacs would stop wasting his valuable time.  Respond

22/05/08 4 5 5 5 He is definitely not in it for the money. I have known Dr Corley for at least 20 years and he has never once charged me for a note or letter and will even find sample meds when we can't afford it. My husband requires a yearly medical for driving as he has epilepsy and he has never been charged once. He is very thorogh. True, he is a little odd but I've never been unhappy with his treatment ever and I have seen him many, many times over the years. The wait is often really long but he is in a Walk-In clinic so it really is to be expected and he spends as much time as neccessary with each patient.  Respond

07/04/08 5 5 5 5 Excellent doctor, did not have to wait long to see him. No dicking around, I told him straight up what the problem was, that I was getting some severe panic attacks, and was already on Effexor XR currently, and Paxil, Cipralex in the past, so I asked if he could refill my Alprazolam prescription. (Simply because it is the best treatment for anxiety and panic attacks and it works right away). Whoever the hell said this doc is in it for the money is **** because he doesn't hand out antidepressants like candy that cost like $70/month VS a benzo that costs like $10-12 for 30 pills. Yes I know benzo's are addictive, but I only USE them AS NEEDED. Other doctors in Alberta need to be more friggin Liberal like this guy. I've been to a lot of doctors, I have never had such great service with this guy. Just Excellent! #1  Respond

12/03/08 1 1 1 1 After receiving "care" from this doctor several times in the past I have decided against ever seeking his treatment again in the future. I found him to be extremely cold with me and my young son during our visits. Each time I left the clinic I felt belittled, frustrated and worried. I don't believe he ever spent more than 5 minutes in the room us. Every time we sought his help he told me we were both absolutely fine and that we should not have come to see a doctor. After the last of these incidents, my son's health continued to decline. I went to see a second doctor who diagnosed my son’s illness as a chest infection which required medical attention and medicines. I do not understand the disparity in rankings for this doctor. It is dangerous and unethical to offer patients different levels of care regardless of time or staffing constraints.  Respond

31/07/07 2 2 1 2 I wouldn't go to this doctor for anything more than stitches. I found him uncaring and cold. This is the kind of doctor who went through med school for the money, not to help people and as a result he will usually side with insurance companies over his patients. He prescribed a drug for me that was killing people and I had to learn about it on the news. Definatly a cold fish.  Respond

15/06/07 5 5 5 I have been a patient of Dr. Corley's for twenty years, he has been right on with every diagnosis concerning my health. Yes, there is a wait but I sit back relaz read the paper as I know he is treating the other patients like he treats me and he is well worth the wait. He's an old country doctor in a fast pace city and that in it's self is a big thumbs up  Respond

26/04/07 1 1 1 I took my infant daughter to this man about 6 years ago. She suffered at that time from double lung pneumonia - Corley's answer to me was that someone must be smoking in the house w/ my child. He all but accused me of being a terrible and unfit mother! Then he told me that if it wasn't that - I needed to move to a new apt. that was carpet free. That if I chose to live in my carpeted apartment, I was going to 'hurt my baby'. He made this big speech to me about the merits of plastic wrapping everything in my home. I didn't need that speech - I needed help for my baby who couldn't breathe!!! I wound up spending the rest of that day sitting at the ER of Children's Hospital - where I was given a whole host of meds for my daughter. She was very sick and I just needed help! I left Corley's office not only w/o any help for my daughter, but a sense of helplessness and shame over the fact that I was a 'dreaded apartment dweller'.  Respond

02/04/07 1 1 1 Awful doctor. Told my friend, who was starting a new relationship and wanted tests done, that he doesn't need a HIV test because he's not gay. He told me to quadruple my antibiotic the first day. The pharmacist told me of heart complications if I even doubled the dose. STAY AWAY.  Respond

26/03/07 3 5 5 Yep this guy is pretty good, I used to see him at the Walk In Clinic downtown in Calgary when I lived in the neighbourhood. The wait time is long as he does have a following, and he has some good stories to tell you while you're in to see him. He's quite the fella!  Respond

19/03/07 4 5 5 I was lucky enough to become one of Dr. Corley's patients about 5 years ago. In my opinion he is the best family doctor I have been to in Calgary since 1967. His diagnostic skills are incredible, and despite the fact that he is constantly busy he never gives the impression that he is merely "processing " patients. I have no hesitation in recommending Dr. Corley, even though by increasing his number of patients I will have to wait longer!  Respond

18/03/07 3 5 5 Dr. Corley is excellent at diagnosing your problem from how you describe it to him. When you go see to Dr. Corley, you know you will get help for whatever is ailing you. Unfortunately, he has such a huge following that the wait to see him is long, but well worth it.  Respond
