25/04/14 1 4 5 5 This Doctor is very good, knowledgable, kind, considerate and very professional, unfortunately his receptionist, Nancy leaves the impression she is more important than the Doctor. She can be friendly but also very curt, self important and her attitude detracts from the service offered by this Doctor. Phoning into his receptionist can be a very intimidating experience which I feel should be corrected.  Respond

18/09/12 5 5 5 5 I had a hip replacement and the other hip with pins and screws in 1997. I am doing fine with both hips 15 years later. Dr. Feibel is probably one of the top 3 hip surgeons in Canada. He is very funny and I still remember one morning when he had no more voice because of cheering to much at one Senators playoff game :). I would recommend him at 100 % to anyone who need of a hip replacement.  Respond

30/07/12 5 4 5 5 I severely tore my Achilles' tendon playing softball in late June and a few weeks later, I had surgery at the Ottawa General. Dr. Feibel and his team did a superb job reattaching my tendon and the follow-up appointments were always smooth. He was genuinely interested in hearing how I felt, carefully listened to my concerns and was very kind suggesting tips and tools (wheelchair and bathing chair) to make my life more comfortable during my 12 weeks of recovery. If you are scheduled to have him as your surgeon, you are in great hands. Relax and you'll be 100% soon.  Respond

01/06/12 5 5 5 5 Broke my ankle in '12 and after 9 days of waiting for surgery (March break, apparently no surgeon works) he was able to put back together my lateral malleolus with 6 pins and a plate after the foot being dislocated to the point of my toes facing behind me. In performing the surgery, he identified signs of adult onset Osteoporosis, I am 22. He has since referred for medical testing and even went as far as arranging a surgical check-up in a hospital in Barrie with their chief orthopedic surgeon. He has been very nice to my father and I, extremely accommodating, and generally a pleasure to deal with. He takes a genuine interest in his patients lives and as to the pain management comments, he does like to prescribe medication though if you listen to what he actually says, he always identifies other alternatives. Great surgeon and doctor, I am glad I didnt transfer to a hospital in Mississauga for the surgery.  Respond

29/04/12 5 4 5 5 Dr. Feibel is an excellent surgeon. He is a friendly, compassionate person who's goal it is to do his utmost for his patients. He operated and performed a total right knee replacement for me in 2006 and in follow-up sessions, diagnosed a pinched nerve in my lower back that was causing numbness down my right leg. He has since referred me to an Orthopaedic back surgeon following an MRI that confirmed the pinched nerve. This doctor is a sensitive and dedicated surgeon. In these times of long hospital waits, I feel so fortunate to have had him on my side. In my opinion, he is definitely a Five Star medical practitioner.  Respond

09/11/11 5 5 5 5 OMG I don't know where I'd be if it weren't for Dr.Robert Feibel. Long story short, I was in an EXTREMELY bad car accident in May 1991 which incl 1 fatality, my friend was paralyzed and then myself who had too many broken bones to mention. 2 years go by and STILL limping with pain. Many X-rays, many surgeries (from other Doctors) who tried numerous approaches with no success. THEN I was referred to Dr.Robert Feibel and BAM! he found infection and I was in surgery right away. He installed the "external fixator" (Ilizerov) on my leg (yes it hurt, yes I had hurdles to get through) but 9 months later I walked pain-free and limp-free! My leg could have been amputated... throughout it all, he was nothing but supportive, empathetic, encouraging and totally trustworthy. He was the same with all of my family members as well. His staff were fantastic too on every visit. I owe it ALL to him and I thank him every day for what he was able to do for me and for my life!!  Respond

08/07/11 4 5 5 5 Dr Feibel has been very patient, empathetic and compassionate with my mother as his patient. He is approachable and went well out of his way to put my mom at ease. In my opinion...this is the first Dr I would allow to operate on myself or the ones I love. If you are a patient of him...you are in great hands!  Respond

17/02/11 5 5 5 5 Shattered my ankle a few years ago. Dr. Feibel put me back together again when other docs failed. Contrary to other comments I read here, I found he was very empathetic to my pain level. I have since been operated on by other surgeons (in the Toronto area now) and none hold a candle to Dr. Feibel.  Respond

07/01/11 1 4 1 3 Feibel is touted as the 'supreme being' of Orthos in Ottawa. And he apparently believes this himself, for he is extremely arrogant and won't take "Hey, Doc, something's wrong here" from his patients. He performed a total hip replacement on a family member recently and it went TOTALLY wrong. Patient has constant pain, walks permanently with cane and screwed up his back even more than before operation. He BLAMED the patient for post-surgery bleeding and abductor tear) and wouldn't fix it. His team in post-op recovery actually overdosed the patient (on hospital record) and then NEGLECTED this patient's vital signs, medical history affecting dosages, and let critical chemistry go out of whack, causing irreversible damage to patient. Five other surgeons and specialists since the operation have shaken their heads at this case and offered to help. We're now deciding on best one to go with. I've kept this vague and anonymous of the patient because a substantial malpractice suit is in process.  Respond

13/10/10 5 5 5 5 My first appointment with Dr. Feibel was Sept 1, 2010. I was very impressed. He was very polite, friendly and caring. He explained what he saw on the x-rays of my knee in every detail. After the knee replacement I had no pain whatsoever. The pain management was excellent. I highly recommend him and if I should ever need to have the other knee done he will be the one I choose. I couldn't ask for a better and caring surgeon.  Respond

04/08/10 5 5 5 5 Dr. Feibel was the best doctor I have ever seen. He listened to my concerns. Even when I felt I had my answers and didn't want to take any more of his time he pulled me back into his office to make sure he answered even the questions I hadn't thought to ask. He was quick, professional, and amicable. He is obviously a busy man but he still takes the time to connect with his patients. I would recommend him to anyone.  Respond

19/08/09 5 5 5 5 In May 2008 I had a total hip replacement done by Dr.R.Feibel. In Sept.2008 I hiked around Mt.Robson BC without any discomfort.I swin, bicycle, play 18 holes of golf and the only time my titanium spike makes itself known is at the airport screening place . Needless to say I would hope that others will have the same experience with any surgery by Dr.R.Feibel. Bill W.  Respond

21/06/09 5 3 5 5 Dr. Feibel repalced both of my knees, he has operated on 3 other relatives and all surgeries have been a great success , he has also consulated with my daughter on her knee problem. I found him to be kind, caring and willing to address my concerns. I would highly recommend Dr. Feibel.  Respond

18/12/08 5 5 5 5 If Dr Feibel is your surgeon you are in tremendous hands. He is a masterful surgeon and I had very little pain following a tibia/fibula reconstruction. As far as empathy and bed side manners, he was caring, compassionate and accessible. 5 star surgeon off the scale human being.  Respond

19/09/08 1 1 1 1 I was assigned this surgeon because he was available after I waited four days in the General with a broken arm. He is only interested in operating. Has a superiority complex and does not relate well with patients. Zips in and out for a quick look during follow-up but his only response to patient pain is not to find out what is causing the pain but to write more prescriptions for pain killer medication.  Respond

07/07/08 1 1 1 1 I did not choose Dr. Fiebel but he was on duty in OR when I came in at Emergency. He has a total mental block about patient pain management because in his arrogant opinion there is no pain after his surgery! The incision did not heal. He said it was my fault for leaning on the open wound. DUH! He grabbed an instrument pack and started picking at the scab. Again, no concept of the pain he was causing. His mantra is, “everything looks fine” when in actual fact I was diagnosed with, and treated for, an infection at the incision site by another doctor. I would not let Dr. Fiebel treat the leg of my dog.  Respond

25/06/07 4 5 5 I'm so fortunate to have had Dr. Feibel do my knee replacement. Doctors are usually fairly non-committal about their colleagues, but every doctor to whom I have mentioned his name responds very positively, which I think is significant. My new knee has been excellent from day 1 (that is to say, no problems aside from the normal trials of recovery). Besides his obvious surgical skill, Dr. Feibel is kind, compassionate and easy to talk to. He made me feel very confident that all would be well, and it was. A superb surgeon and a very nice person.  Respond

04/04/07 3 5 5 Dr. Feibel has operated on my spine twice. He is a wonderful surgeon & person, understanding, knowledgeable & compassionate. He was the one who wheeled me to the OR not an orderly, he sat with me in the middle of the night after my first surgery, he always explained everything in detail to us, drawing diagrams to make sure we understood, he even battled with the insurance company for us. He also tried every single avenue before operating. Many doctors could take a lesson on how to deal with patients from this surgeon. He has a wonderful personality and even when things were bad he always made us laugh even if it was just a little bit. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone.  Respond

28/03/07 5 5 5 This doctor is a breath of fresh air to the medical profession. He is bright, has a sense of humour, is considerate, easy to understand and doesn't rush you out the door. He is very good with pain management after surgery. I am thoroughly pleased with my knee replacement and I think this man deserves 5 Stars. I would recommend him to anyone for knee and hip replacment.  Respond

20/03/07 2 3 5 Very knowlwdgeable. Good sense of humour. Very good engineer. When it comes to empathy he has none. He does not seem to understand or accept that you have pain after the operation. If u have no pain problems he is extremely, but if you are suffering residual apin after an operation he cannot explain why because there should not be all the pieces are extremely well put together . What the xray does not show he cannot comment on.  Respond

13/03/07 4 5 5 Very helpful and infomative. Has a great sense of humour. Tells you the way it is, tells you clearly what he can do, tells you how long it will take for recovery, delivers on the operation. A++ Straight forward, great integrity.  Respond
