12/07/14 2 1 1 1 WORST DR EVER!! He was late by over 1.5hrs for my consult then quickly rushed me through, asked me to think of any questions I have while he checked on another patient. 15 minutes later, the receptionist who informed me Dr Kotylak has left for the day. Then, my colonoscopy was over 2hrs delayed, he had THE WRONG CHART and called me by the WRONG NAME then got mad at me for not replying to him. When I tried to make a joke to break the tension, he got really mad and yelled "I know exactly what you are here for and that's EXACTLY what you'll get"..then everything went black. I woke to my fiance telling me Dr Kotylak was extremely rude to her when she asked to speak to him about the procedure. He then discharged me BEFORE I passed ANY gas saying the dept was now closed and he was late for another appointment. I was rushed back to the hospital an hour later with internal bleeding due to 4 full colonoscopy procedures. AND, the diagnosis of Diverticulitis was WRONG!! Late for follow up apt too  Respond

03/10/13 5 5 5 5 I really liked Doc.Kotylak he was funny and gets down to what he has to do. No fuss no muss the way it should be. No he did not hold my hand that's what my family and friends are for. I would recommend him. He did a awesome job on my hernia and made the scare better than it was before. I'm very happy with him. :)  Respond

08/01/13 1 1 1 1 Dr. Kotylaks's seems not to care if his patients die as a result of his undo care and attention during surgery and "impropperly prepping of the pateint". He is actually first to say "it wasn't my fault" when asked by the family "what happened?". He knows that if an older or young patient dies, the family has little recourse to sue because of Legalities.  Respond

06/11/12 5 5 5 5 I had an imbilical hernia taken care of .I read reviews saying he is rude and dosnt care.I say the opposite. He may be direct and sometines come across as dry,but I wasnt looking for a best friend I was lookimg for a good surgon. He saw me and put me on the list I was taken care of right in the time frame estimated .At the hospital he was very professional and did a very good job on me.I would not hesitate to recomend him and if there is something else that happens or comes up I would have no problem letting him take care of it  Respond

31/10/12 4 1 1 3 He totally blotched my wife's gall bladder operation, actually he almost killed her, she had to be sent immediately to VGH to fix up the mess he made. She also has a massive scar from what they had to do to save her. Also anyone that actually really knows him knows him to have lousy beside manner, rude to the extreme and unbelievably arrogant. I have heard nurses and other drs say the same thing. When he is on the ball he is good but unfortunately when he is preoccupied (probably thinking about golf) he is haphazard and lazy in what he does. And it seems to occur far to often.  Respond

16/01/12 5 5 5 5 Dr Kotylak saved my life. I went in the hospital thinking I had a very bad flu, when I actually had a stomach ulcer and toximia. Within an hour, Emergency at Ridge Meadows had me in for a 4.5 hour surgery. As I had just had a tummy tuck a few months before, I asked Dr. Kotylak to try to keep it as pretty as he could, which he did. After the surgery, I was in the hospital for 9 days and just wanted to go home, but Dr. K kept me in until everything was clear. Dr. K's a very busy man, but always had the time to inform me what was going on with my health. He also is very thorough with his follow up and I am currently going back to see him weekly until everything is perfect. Thank you, Dr. Kotylak, for being you and making it so I can go on to have a good life. Words could not express my gratitude and I would trust Dr. K with my life at any time!!  Respond

26/06/11 5 5 5 5 Very skilled surgeon. He has done 3 surgeries for me and I credit my survival 4 years cancer free to his care. Always listens, always acts quickly. Always direct, honest and blunt communication. I would recommend him to anyone that needs a really good surgeon. The fact that his teenage son has no impulse control has nothing to do with his skill and compassion as a doctor. Let the justice system do its job and let everyone else get on with thiers, whats done is done, time to move on.  Respond

18/06/11 5 5 5 5 All I want to say is Dr.Greg Kotylak is an amazing doctor!!!! I think the public that are being bulllies on line or in person need to know what they are doing is wrong. Threatening the family how does that fix anything, it actually just sickens me. I have meet both Dr,Kotylak and his wife and they are both amazing parents. By these bullies doing what they are doing is ... shameful. The doctor having to close down his office, whats that do, make longer wait times. He was my fathers surgeon and he did an amazing job. My Mom loved him. When my friends need to see someone I only send them to the best Dr.Kotylak!! I will continue to send people to him. Dr.Greg Kotylak is an amazing surgeon, person and Father.  Respond

18/06/11 5 4 5 5 Wonderful doctor. He has done 3 surgeries for me. He was the one that diagnosed me with breast cancer at the age of 33 and he has been supporting me in good health ever since. He is a caring doctor. He has comic bedside manner, in my opinion. He is always honest and provides you with choices. I have complete faith in him as a doctor.  Respond

01/06/11 3 3 1 1 Dr. Kotylak is simply the worst Doctor I have ever been referred to. He was careless and uncompassionate and this resulted in months of pain and suffering that should have never happened. I would not ever recommend this Doctor to anyone not even my worst enemy. And I'm not exaggerating when I say he is a saddist and yes I am very angry and still in pain because of his negligence.  See Responses

06/11/09 5 5 5 5 I found Dr Kotylak always professional and direct, which is what you want when facing a life or death situation. Due to the seriousness of my health he reacted immediately, even though it was 4 pm Friday of a long weekend. All tests were expedited and I was in surgery within 2 1/2 weeks from my first visit. I have never seen things move so quickly in a mediacl environment and this is coming from someone who has worked in the mediacl field for 21 years. Dr Kotylak took time before my surgery to explain to my husband exactly what he was going to do and then updated him once the surgery was complete. He took time everyday to visit me in the hospital to see how I was progressing. I would definitely, if having a choice, choose Dr Kotylak for any future sugeries.  Respond

11/05/08 1 3 1 2 Worst bedside manner I have ever encountered, rude & arrogant. Didn't do his homework in emergency before operating, resulting in my having to have a spinal and general anisthetic and two incisions because of infection at the site. Even though we were informed about the suspected infection by the doctors in emerg.somehow he seemed to have missed that information before going into the O.R.  Respond

10/05/08 5 5 5 5 I have had three surgery's with Dr. Kotylak. My first was for colon cancer then 2 hernia surgery's. Dr. Koylak is a wonderful surgeon and is the best follow up Dr. ever. While I was in the hospital he came in every single morning, seven days a week to see me and how I was doing. My three surgery's were successful and to this day I still see him for follow ups from my colon cancer surgery. He told me that I would get sick of seeing him so often but that he would make sure I am doing well with no reoccurances. I would have no other surgeon see me. He takes time with you in his office and answers all my questions especially my wife's. He is very trusted by this family and would recommmend him to any of my family members and friends. I am very thankful for him. His receptionist Sharon is very personable on the phone and when you come in to the office. She has sympathy, empathy and is the most pleasant person to talk to. She makes you feel human. Thank you Dr. and Sharon. Brian  Respond
