:) Click to report rating    7/14/09 5 4 4 OBS: I chose* him because, from things I had heard, we were on the same page when it came to c-sections, episiotomies, etc. However, I found him to be very rough when performing exams and using instruments such as a speculum or vacuum extractor. I felt I was induced part-way through labour to suit his schedule. Stitching/healing went terribly wrong, don't know if it was doctors fault or nature's. GYN: Saw him again later regarging the stitching/healing. Felt he didn't understand the severity of the problem, and I switched OB/GYNs. Later had the opportunity to read my own chart, and realized that he understood more than I thought and just wasn't very good at communicating that. *Family doctor involves patient in choice of specialist, if you have heard something that influences your preference toward them.

:) Click to report rating    3/11/08 4 3 4 When I went in labor for my second child, it was Dr Hamann who was on call that night. He had told me that my baby was breech and he suggested that I have a c-section as it was very likely that I would need one. My husband and I decided to go ahead and plan a section and he was wonderful through out the surgery. I have minimal scarring and my healing process was very quick. He had me schedule a follow up appointment after my section and he was very kind and caring and I was very pleased that he helped deliver my little girl!! He is a wonderful doctor!

:( Click to report rating    2/24/08 1 1 1 We waited SEVERAL hours to be seen by him during a trip to emerg./OBS during my wife's pregnancy with twins (high risk pregnancy for certain reasons). Completely in my opinion underestimated the severeity of the situation. When finally assessed resulted in air ambulance to St. John's for emerg. c-section of premature very distressed babies. A very close call that may have ended up fatally for one or both of our children. Absolutely would never allow my wife or other family members see this man again.

:) Click to report rating    2/14/08 5 5 5 I am not a pt of his, but a doctor...delayed clamping of the cord DOES NOT cause polycythemia/jaundice, you moron.

:| Click to report rating    8/10/07 3 3 3 Dr. Hamann delivered my first son. I went into labor pre-term and was sent to Corner Brook from Stephenville to give birth. Although I did not have any problem with him throughout my whole labor, I was not pleased at the outcome of the birth. Dr. Hamann had an intern with him when I delivered. After my son was born, he was showing the intern how to cut the umbilical cord. This took several minutes and because my son was at a lower level than me, there was a continuous blood flow from myself to my son. This resulted in my son having polycythemia (too many red blood cells). As a result of this, my son and I had to stay in the hospital for a week, and he had to be placed under bilirubin lights because as the blood breaks down, it causes increased bilirubin level which in turn developed into Jaundice. Because of my son having polycythemia, we had a hard time trying to getting him awake to feed, and when he did eat, it was very little.

:) Click to report rating    7/17/07 4 2 5 I think he was ok, I didnt have another OB to compare him with.He was reassuring and answered my questions well and also my "whining". He seems always in a rush though I find this didn't affect me entirely. I was high risk and when I was laboring, he came and checked me 4 times during the day which i was really pleased. I eventually had a c-section and was also quite pleased with it. I am currently living up north and plan to go back to NL to deliver my 2nd baby and no doubt I will go back to him.

:| Click to report rating    4/13/07 3 1 I think he is wonderful,he delivered both of my babies and I thought he reassured me every step of the way. During my pre-natal visits he answered all of my questions and even though the appointments were quick that reassured me that every thing was fine.

:| Click to report rating    4/1/07 3 2 I rated the way I did because, I saw Hamman, I had surgery performed by Hamman and frankly I didn't think I received all the information I really wanted before and after the surgery. I found he was very rude and seemed like he couldnt wait to get out of the room before I was even done asking questions. His quality of surgery was good I must say. But his bedside manner could definitely use some work, and he could slow down a bit and not be so rushed to get out of the room.

:) Click to report rating    3/13/07 5 5 Took his time. Listened, answered my questions directly and to the point. Recommended follow-up after explaining why and what can be achieved / what can be expected.
