About 12 years ago, I was hospitalized for Pancreatitis. Dr. Saab wanted to perform a scope, to rule out stomach ulcers. They sedated me, but he didn’t wait until to drug had taken its full effect. He started to perform the task, while I was still conscience. They had to pin me down on the table. My throat was soar for three days from trying to swallow while he vigorously ran the scope in and out. The nurse who wheeled me to the recovery room; asked if I was OK. I told her it was the worst experience of my life. She said “you should complain; he does it to a lot of people”. I’m surprised no else has!
One of the best surgeons. Very caring, not time watching. Spends all the time to explain what patients needs to know. Exceptionally caring. I would trust him with my life again and again.
Dr.Saab performed gastric surgery on my dad. As a result, my dad died from multi-organ failure caused by sepsis. A coroner's Judgement of Inquiry report (Case 2005:0405:0007) has recommended to Dr.Sabb and the hospital: 1) Review his death for quality assurance purposes. 2) Consider education for the ICU nursing staff with respect to physical assessment and documentation for the assessment and communication of changes in condition to the physician 3)Consider education for the nursin gstaff with respect to renal failure and sepsis 4) Consider adopting a communication tool such as the SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) to ensure effective communication amongst health care team members. 5) Review his death with the purpose of determining if the hospital had the critical care resources sufficient to safely care for Mr. Wekwert in light of the planned extensive surgery and his multiple chronic medical conditions. 6) Consider participating in a multidisciplinary review,
