20/06/13 5 4 5 5 Please take merit in those who has been with Dr.Wainer for a while and not a fly by night patients. Many kids are referred to Dr. Wainer via the Children's Hospital and just needs to see him once or twice, those might be the parents who don't know the real value in long term care with an amazing Pediatrician. Dr. Wainer is true to the nature of what I expect of a Pediatrician. He has always treated my children as if they are the only patient in his care. He has a admirable respect for children. I am eternally grateful for him.  Respond

31/01/12 4 2 5 5 We were referred to doctor Wainer at birth do to our son making a weird arch when born and he did the follow up which didn't turn out to be anything serious. I then was referred to him for our son as he was displaying ADHD tendances and behavior issues by age 4/5. He said when we came back to him those 3/4 years later that he wasn't surprised to see him as he was already showing signs of the disorder. He has always been pleasent, friendly and concerned for everyones well-being, as it affects not only our son but our daughters life and our Marriage! If it weren't for him, I don't think our family would be a unit today. He always takes time to listen to our concerns and evaluates school, home life & social situation regarding our son. We take his advice seriously as we tried the other methods which helped very little and at the time were against ADHD meds, but taking his advice was the best thing we did for our sons sake, who now can concentrate on some schooling and control some impulses.  Respond

04/01/12 5 5 5 5 Dr Wainer has been my daughter's doctor for over 5 years. She is almost 18 and we will be sad to stop going to his office. He has always treated her with respect and understanding. He listens to her concerns (and mine) and has suggestions. She is continually praised for her success and effort. Having Dr. Wainer as her doctor has been life changing. She and I believe her academic, social, and mental success is due to the help he has given her. At the risk of sounding overly dramatic, I believe, as her parent, that he has saved her life. She is reaching her full potential and Dr Wainer is one of the big reasons why.  Respond

28/03/11 4 1 1 2 Didn't help at all. We were referred to Dr. Wainer by our then family doctor. Our son was 4 almost 5 and not potty trained. Told my husband and me "wait a go on getting the ball going but I'm not going any futher." Needless to say we found a different pediatrician and finally got our now 6yr old the help he needs.  Respond

09/12/10 4 4 5 5 Dr Wainer has been the best!! We started seeing him when my son was 6 (who is now 16) I was absolutely at the end of my rope as I had no diagnosis nor any idea what was wrong with my son. He recommended different counselling as well as referred him to the Childrens' Hospital for 2 6 week admittance sessions to be able to get a correct diagnosis as well as the proper medication that worked for MY son not just any child. I have no idea where I would be today if it wasn't for Dr Wainer. He has always answered all of my questions and provided any referrals that I have needed. Never would I take my son elsewhere except to Dr Wainer!! Hats off to him as I would have given up if not for the help that he has provided all of these years! Thank you!!  Respond

15/11/10 5 1 1 1 If you are interested in giving your child meds to help with a behavioral issues GO see Dr.Wainer. If you want tools and referrals , choose another Dr. Dr.Wainer is not open to discussing anything with anyone who is not open to his prescriptions. He is rude and shuts you down, the first mention of other options!! He looks at you like you are crazy and the only person in the world who is looking into alternative medicines and ways. Ask for a referral for some counseling and he seems insulted and tells you to come back in 6 months if you decide you need a prescription. Open your mind up Dr.Wainer its 2010. Its not about you being wrong its about people wanting options and not having a child addicted to meds at a young age or at least offer ways to get tools so a child doesn't have to be addicted to meds for life. and what is so wrong with counseling for your child??  See Responses

26/08/10 5 5 5 5 Dr. Wainer is terrific. He circumcised my son and was very kind and gentle. I was in tears, fearful of putting my son in pain but Dr. Wainer was quick and efficient and my baby didn't cry at all. The circumcision looks great and I would highly recommend Dr. Wainer. The nurse in his office was incredibly sweet too.

23/06/10 5 5 5 5 Dr. Weiner is the best Pediatrician that i could of asked for my daughter. When my daughter was born she was without oxygen for about 22 minutes it was called shoulder distosen, and i went to him to get a stitch out of her side that she had left in there, and he is the most concerned, patient, respectful doctor. Doctors like him should be reconized more. I would refer anyone to him without a doubt. Whoever that sees him will not be disappointed. I had to move from calgary and i think about how good of a doctor that he is. Overall he is an awsome guy. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORD DR> WEINER  Respond

21/04/10 1 1 2 1 I find he is always very short with me, won't answer questions & talks to me like I don't know what I am doing. He's never on time, and when I tell him I have questions he walks out of the room. I always book last appointment of the day as well, and I get out of there 2hrs later if Im lucky because we must wait so long to get in to see him for maybe 5 minutes. I will not being going back to him again. cld  Respond

09/04/10 5 4 5 5 I gave Dr. Wainer a 4 for punctuality, as sometimes it's hit or miss how long you wait. However, with that said, if my child required extra care - he will give it. He does "squeeze" extra appt's in at the end of the day when your children require it - I don't mind waiting for that. As a parent, knowing that the doctor has EIGHT minutes to examine, assess and make a diagnosis on children and deal with parents - not nearly enough time. Dr. Wainer is great, his staff are great, and I most highly recommend him!!!  Respond

02/04/10 2 1 1 1 We have a a little girl who has not been diagnosed and was referred to Dr.Wainer. He was quick to diagnose her, but he was wrong. At this time I've chosen not to vaccinate her until I know what is going on with her. Dr. Wainer has been very arrogant with me, telling me I'm following witchcraft and people's opinions. He said if I did not get her vaccinated he will no longer provide service to me. He told me it is his expectations that when he tells a patient what to do they need to do it because he is the educated professional. He told me to come back in 6 months to have another fight with him and to go tell everyone how mean he is. Wow!! Good bye Dr. Wainer! Anyone who wants to research and think about procedures done to your child don't go to him. He will make you feel like a terrible parent.  See Responses

10/02/10 4 5 5 5 Dr. Wainer is not only knowledgeable; he is compassionate. I took my daughter in to him with ADHD diagnosed at 17; she was enthusiastic at first, and later sad and frustrated. He was caring, intelligent, informative and...amazingly, very gender aware. He recommended that we read studies done by two women on Girls and Women with ADHD. I ordered the book, and it was very interesting and helpful. Our expectations of girls and boys are different, and it makes sense that when girls have ADHD it affects their lives in different ways. She feels better as we continue to explore the book's insights. Dr. Wainer actully made her feel proud of the strengths of having an ADHD mind. It is really great to see someone in the right profession. Thanks so much Dr. Wainer.  Respond

14/09/09 4 5 5 5 I took my daughter to Dr Wainer and thought he was one of the best we have seen. My daughter is 4months old and is having some vision problems. Our family Dr said he thought she was fine but I went to see Dr Wainer for a second opinion and he caught the vision problem right away and knew it was Albinism most other Drs I have seen dont really even know what it is but Dr Wainer knew pretty much right away. I was pretty devestated but he made me feel so much better and had us in to the specialist in 3 days, even she was impressed with his knowledge! The staff was friendly but did take their time to respond to my emails. Overall I am super happy we have him to take care of our little girl!  Respond

25/08/09 5 3 1 2 He was quicker to diagnose a problem with me than to offer help with our child. He refused to forward us onto the appropriate specialist numerous time. I found him to be very rude, beligerant and pushy every time we were there for an appointment. The last straw was when our child's school (a school specializing in the field) was unable to work with the Doctor or get any information from him.  Respond

04/06/09 3 3 3 3 At first I thought Dr. W was great, he found a problem with my daughter when she was an infant and appeared to be very knowledgeable and experienced. But further visits for chronic ear infections left me feeling less than happy with him. My daughter spent over a year fighting ear infections (6-18 months old) with antibiotics and he refused to give a referral to an ENT specialist as he felt she would "outgrow" the infections . After I demanded a referral or get one elsewhere he finally wrote one up and I went to the ENT. He had one look in her ears and was shocked at how much of a mess her ears were in, and told me that she was on the verge of permanent damage. She was sent in for surgery/tubes 3 days later. Her ears were a mess, it was affecting her speech and of course her hearing. She never had an ear infection after that. I never went back to Dr. W.  Respond

27/04/09 2 4 5 5 After a few months of waiting for an appointment I took in my son for an AD/HD re-evaluation. Dr. Wainer was very thorough in his assessment and diagnosis of my son, kind in his manner, and gave me very helpful information not only for here and now but what I can expect in years to come. I recommend him highly.  Respond

15/02/09 1 5 1 1 We got referred to Dr Wainer through Developmental Clinic, for assessment for our daughter at the time she was 6 years old and displaying behaviors IE self injuries, ADHD etc.. He basic total us that it was all my fault as a mother. That's wasn't the point ..my point is that I wanted to get help for my child. Witch never happened. I found wainer to be rude and quick to judge. even though out side supports disagreed with him. I will never EVER recommend this Doctor to any family at all.  Respond

26/11/08 3 4 5 5 I took my daughter (age 9) to see Dr. Wainer regarding bedwetting and voiding issues, a very embarassing problem for my child. He was sensitive and considerate and helped to make her as comfortable as possible. I was very impressed by the care she was given and we have seen noticeable results under his care. His clinic is always busy and the wait times can be frustrating but the quality of care is second to none. His staff are very busy and do not have much time for idle chit chat but they are obviously very good at what they do, considering the time constraints and the sheer volume of patients they juggle.  Respond

13/06/08 2 2 5 5 Dr. Wainer has an incredible knowledge of disorders in children and the family dynamics. He carefully considers options and expresses them clearly to his patients. Your child's dynamic needs will continue to be followed carefully. You will be lucky to have him on your health care team.  Respond

11/02/08 5 4 5 5 My son has been a patient of Dr. Wainer's for 8 years now. We may go up to 6 months between appointments at times, but Dr. Wainer has taken the time to get to know my son, his personality and interacts with him on a level that my son can appreciate and respect. My son has several special needs issues, and he sees many specialists - but none of which have shown as much respect, care and concern for my son as Dr. Wainer has. When we attend an appointment, Dr. Wainer also takes the time to see how the entire family unit is functioning and how my son is interacting with his peers and school staff. I have seen several Pediatricians, and in my opinion - Dr. Wainer is the best so far.  Respond

18/12/07 5 4 5 5 We had issues and were very unsatisfied with our with our PREVIOUS Pediatrician and and we were refered to Dr.Wainer and what a difference..Right away we felt comfortable taking our boys..he is always reassuring and I never question(as I did the other) him when I leave I always feel comfortable with his advice and his medical decsions fro my boys.He always remebers and he is so gentle with my boys, and when we first saw him he knew all of my boys history and what both there issues were..he is amazing and I wish there were more pediatricians out there like him...I am so happy we FINALLY got into him after 5mos or so!! He is the best and that is what my boys deserve!! THE VERY BEST!  Respond

25/04/07 4 5 5 I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Wainer. We were referred to him to have our son circumsized. Before the procedure he did an exam and found that there was something not right with his heart. He sent us directly to children's hospital where they flew our son to Edmonton the following morning for surgery. If it wasn't for him we may not have our little man. I never feel rushed when we visit, he takes as much time as needed with you.  Respond

06/04/07 1 2 2 We were referred to Dr.Wainer through our family physician for our then 12 month old daughter who displayed autistic tendancies,Dr.Wainer told me she had global developmental delay, pretty general. On our 2nd visit I left in tears as he said it was my fault she was this way and that I was underfeeding her as she was only at the 50th percentile on the growth chart but my other 2 daughters and myself were all small at birth up until about 2 yrs of age and a Dr should know that the size of the mother at birth greatly affects the size of the child, anyway he sent us to see the infant team at ACH and all 5 members plus the phycologist sent letters to Dr.Wainer saying this child is displaying all the symptoms of Autism. So I went back again to Wainer and still he refused to give me a firm diagnosis of any sort thereby preventing me from getting any help such as speech therapy or physical therapy,as she is still not speaking and is behind in motor skills I have decided to stop seeing him anymore!  Respond
