Dr Andrea MacDonald is by far the family doctor I've had in years. When I moved from NB to NS, I wanted to have a female doctor and was told about her leaving the military to become a family doctor at Joe Howe Medical Centre. It's the best thing I've done since moving here 7 years ago. She is very caring, friendly and knowledgeable; if she doesn't know, she'll make sure to find the answer or refer you to a specialist. I've even received calls from her on the weekend to discuss test results!!! I read other comments that were negative and I simply think that some people can never be satisfied. When I'm in her office, I have her undivided attention and she takes the time that's needed and therefore sometimes takes longer than expected. I would rather wait a little bit longer in the waiting room and know that when my turn comes, I'll have all her attention :)

I used to be happy with Dr. MacDonald, but lately have found her to be slightly judgmental, unable to recommend any alternative health care options even when questioned, and always in a rush, making you feel like you are getting less than adequate care. We will be looking for a new doctor shortly.

I have been seeing Dr. McDonald for almost 5 years now and while I gave her a 5 rating previously, I feel I have to revise that now. Her staff is uncourteous, not very helpful and downright rude. Where the doctor used to always be on time, within 10 to 15 minutes, I have had to wait and hour or longer, from waiting room time to actually seeing her in one of her examination rooms. Her knowledge base needs to be increased...it's like she hasn't kept up with research and studies, new implementation of drugs,etc & would rather pass you off to someone else. I don't know if she is scared to try something new, or just doesn't have the information needed. Like a hair-stylist needs refresher courses as styles tend to change, so does Dr. McDonald. You can tell that she cares when you talk to her but she just seems out of her realm in being able to help you at times now. She'll remain my doctor as I do think she is better than any other doctor I have seen here. I just wish she were more helpful!

Incredible Dr. Hae been with her now for the past 4 years and have the whole family going to her now.

I had been searching for a new female physician. I found Dr.McDonald when she started at Joe Howe Medical Clinic. I was estatic! Liked her immediately and felt so comfortable with her that I referred several female friends to her that were looking for a new Doctor. I have been a patient of hers since she started to practice here and literally 'just adore her'! I have never felt so comfortable or confident with a Physician as I do with her. She is the absolute best and surely a 'Blessing from God'! Thank you Dr. McDonald for your care, consideration and being such a phenonimal person. I am so lucky to have you for my Physician. KN

It would be impossible to find a better doctor than Dr. MacDonald she is an amazing doctor who you can always count on and she is very knowlegable, she knows everything about everything and if she doesn't she doesn't pretend. Wonderful, compassionate doctor. If you ask for a referal she does it before you leave and you can expect a call within days. Her staff leaves a lot to be desired though.

I love Dr. Macdonald. After my family doctor, Dr. M. Shaw left, I searched for a family doctor who was as awesome as he was... I searched for a long time, but then found Dr. Macdonald. She is wonderful and I knew right away.. 'Yes, she is looking out for me!" Being a single mom, she was the first, and only person to ask me how I am feeling, as opposed to how my son is feeling. It was such a shock to have someone ask how I was feeling, that I didn't even know how to respond... Dr. Macdonald has helped my whole family tremendously! My parents had lost their faith in GP's and after becoming a patient of Dr. Macdonald's, they once again feel someone is looking out for them! Thank you Dr. Macdonald! I am very lucky to be your patient.

I've been with Dr. MacDonald for a few years and love her. I'm with an OB for the remainder of my pregnancy and miss Dr. MacDonald very much. The level of care I have recieved from her is excellent.

Been with Dr MacDonald since she left the military. Very comfortable with her as my physician, excellent follow up and routine testing. She looks at me during visits, not always at my chart. She has actally said "I don`t know", and refers to specialists. Would highly recommend her as a family physician.

The best of the best. She treats me as an equal partner, she has read my chart before I come in and is aware of my history. Her knowledge is up to date and accurate. She is caring and sincere. She is a beautiful person in every possible dimension, both my wife and I are in love with her.

Dr. MacDonald is extremely caring, and you feel she approaches you as a friend with her professional expertise and your well-being in the forefront. She is wonderfully compassionate when it comes to understanding the challenges of military life, having come from a military family, and being a military doctor, something that is important to a military spouse.

Dr. McDonald is sincere and very knowledgable. She ensures that you understand what is going on with your health and is non judgemental. She makes you feel comfortable and she knows how to communicate.

Dr. MacDonald really makes you feel comfortable. She remembers to ask about the worries you had in the previous visit. She genuinely cares about your well being. I think she is great.
