21/01/13 1 3 1 1 Remarkably rude, irritable and unhelpful office staff. The doctor himself equally rude, especially when I decided to wait for surgery rather than pay him $4000.00 for laser surgery in his office. This is what our health dollars are going to. Incredible.

04/12/12 4 3 4 4 I found Dr Lee to be knowledgeable and straightforward. The procedures were done efficiently. He has a very busy practice and yet found time to take a few minutes to make a personal connection, which I appreciate.  Respond

05/11/12 4 3 2 4 About 1 percent information volunteered in contrast to what I wanted. 2 minutes of his time for 40 minute wait. Dr. Lee was friendly enough and seems capable, but he didn't provide enough information to make an assessment. I would recommend that more time with his patients would make a world of difference. Come prepared with questions and insist on a response.

15/05/12 1 1 1 1 I was referred to Dr Lee for vericose vein problems I was having. Under Dr. Lees suggestions, I elected for laser treatment. What a mistake! At surgery, I was rushed in and out faster than quality care would certainly permit. I felt I was not given enough information to properly care for my leg after the surgery, and when I called the office a few days after, to my surprise I was told that the Doctor was away for the next two weeks, and was given incorrect information on how long to leave the compression stockings on for. Less than two years later, my vericose veins were back and worse. Clearly I am very displeased with his service. I would suggest that Dr. Lee take time enough to properly explain and give information on his pretreatment and aftercare prtocols as he advertises on his website.  Respond

14/04/12 5 5 5 5 I suffered a ruptured abdominal artery anuerysm at home. I was taken to naniamo hospital by ambulance. then transported to Victoria Jubilee hospital by helicopter.I probably would have died during emergency surgery. I had lost massive amounts of blood into my abdominal cavity. I was very fortunate that Dr. Lee came in at 1 am. to operate on me. He saved my life by repairing the artery with his skill and knowledge and experience. During my 3 weeks stay in the I.cu. dept. and 2 weeks on the less intensive area Dr lee dropped by a few times to see how I was doing. I found him very friendly and caring. I owe him much gratitude. Thank you. Recommend you highly.  Respond

05/03/12 1 1 1 1 I saw this physician twice. the first time he pressured me to pay $4000 for laser surgery and told me that the traditional varicose vein surgery wouldn't work, so I elected not to have the surgery. After 3 years my varicose veins are really bad and I was again referred to him. He wanted to charge $50 for an ultrasound performed in his office - the equipment didn't look sterile to me - and kept me waiting for over an hour. I left before he saw me so I wouldn't get a parking ticket. He is money-grubbing and practices two tier medicine. I felt like a second class client because I wouldn't pay for his services. I'm sure he billed MSP for my visit even though he didn't see me.  Respond

17/02/12 5 5 5 5 Our experience with Dr.Lee was fantastic ! He was a pleasure to deal with from beginning to end. There was virtually no wait time at his office for an appointment and his assistant Michelle went above and beyond always. Our Daughter has Shung Lee to thank for her successful surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome and her return to competitive swimming. Truly an amazing surgeon, with a fabulous bed side manner and a sense of humour to put even a parent at ease.  Respond

23/04/11 5 5 5 5 Dr. Lee made my aortic aneurysm repaid seem to be a very minor procedure. I never lacked confidence in him as I felt he explained everything to me very well. I am very thankful that he is such a skilled surgeon. I feel so lucky to have been referred to him for this problem, now corrected.  Respond

25/01/11 5 4 3 3 Dr: Lee made me feel like a piece of crap. He asked me if I smoke and I said yes but I will quit. He said I don't believe you. Also commented on how many people it took to take care of my operation. I will be going to someone else. Like I am not worth the trouble.  Respond

22/01/11 2 1 1 3 WE found him to be curt, imposing his ideas on us and had no time to ask questions, comment or otherwise understand what he was talking about. He made the aortic aneurism surgery sound like a death knoll. He made us feel like we were not in control of our lives.  Respond

30/04/09 4 5 5 5 I was referred to Dr. Lee on an emergency basis for carotid artery surgery. He fully described the proposed procedure and its risks to me, as well as the risks I would assume should I not elect to proceed. He also took the time to do the same with my wife via telehone, which greatly lessened her anxiety. After the operation he again took time to call my wife and update her on my status and the success of the surgery. In his hospital visits he was professional and couteous; I find it difficult to believe the comments posted here regarding Dr. Lee being curt or rude. I only wish I knew how to adequately thank him for what he has done for me.  Respond

05/03/09 5 5 5 5 Dr Lee is a highly professional surgeon, he was fairly short on words but explained the risks of the surgery succinctly made me feel confident and most important put me into cardiovascular surgery, carotid artery immediately as I needed it. He followed up post operatively in again a short but compassioned way. I will thank this man forever for his quick and successful intervention. What some may see as a bad bedside manner I see as a pro who is busy saving and prolonging lives. Great man!  Respond

22/08/08 4 3 4 5 Dr. Lee came highly recommended by my family doc. He kept me waiting for a while, but more than made up for it when I saw him. He completely explained my surgery to me in terms I could understand. Even though he was very busy, he took the time to answer all my questions. He was very skilled, and saved my leg with his surgery.  Respond

11/01/08 1 1 1 2 Dr. Lee operated on me three times. Two fistulas were done and neither worked. He then disconnected the one that was working. Dr Lees' attitude was callous, condescending and indifferent. My life as a dialysis patient was very unpleasent thanks to Dr. Lee  Respond

25/06/07 3 5 5 This man saved my husband's life with his knowledge and expertise. If he was a little late at the office, I'll take that any time over a doctor who is always punctual but isn't very good at his job.  Respond

07/04/07 5 5 5 Dr. Shung Lee, has got to be the best cardio-vascular surgeons I have ever met. When I started seeing him 3 years ago, he was very concerned and wanted to make sure I understood all aspects of my illness. He continues to be my surgeon and is very constitent in my care. He follows up on everything and books appointments. He has done surgery on me twice now and I have one more to go, I don't think I could do it without his confidence in himself, his bed side manor is above and beyond. His approach with me was very stern and I needed that to make realize what I had done to myself. He came highly recommended and it was true, he is the best. I also want to commend his staff on their light humour and helpfulness and understanding. Anytime I have concerns they get to it ASAP. Thanks for being there.  Respond
