:| Click to report rating    3/9/10 1 3 1 I do not care for his bedside manner, gruff and unfriendly. His personal religious views should have no forum in health care ... his job is supposed to be to help people with health issues. Perhaps he needs to re read his oath. If he wants to 'help' with religious issues he should have become a missionary or a minister. "Judge not lest ye be judged". I agree with one of the comments below ... thank God the wife is not practicing! If you want someone helpful and kind and don't feel like being preached to, don't bother with this doctor.

:) Click to report rating    11/19/09 3 3 5 Looked after our family for a couple of generations now. Appreciate his willingness to take a few minutes and discuss concerns. I appreciate his personal opinions -- I would rather get his opinion as well as a diagnosis so I can understand viewpoints on decisions that need to be made. He's been our doctor for twenty years, and hope he's around another twenty. I really appreciate being able to discuss matters with him. He may seem a little abrupt, but I think it's because he has the answers and jumps right into discussing them. Works for me. Sometimes appointments take a few weeks to get in, because of holidays / other committments. If that's the case I just go to the clinic, which is what they prefer for anything fairly urgent. I'd recommend Tom to anyone looking for a doctor, he is a great doctor.

:) Click to report rating    11/19/09 5 5 5 I could not ask for a better doctor. I do wait to see him when I go there but I do not consider that bad service since a doctor never knows how long an appointment will take or what emergency will happen on any given day. He does have personal views. So what. If he kept them out of his practice people would say he had no sense of ethics. He is a very good man who tries to do what is right. Noone could ask for more than that.

:) Click to report rating    5/6/09 1 2 4 I agree that he lets his personal views affect his practice. Having said that, from my experience, anybody that didn't like him, should have taken the time to listen to what he had to say. ie: just because they didn't like his diagnosis, didn't mean that he wasn't correct.

:) Click to report rating    9/11/08 5 4 5 If you want a doctor who will prescribe birth control then go to someone else. There are LOTS of doctors with no moral sensibility. Dr. Barry is a wonderful person and doctor. He's the kind of person who sees the human side of the practice. When I was small and my parents were very poor and couldn't afford the medicine to treat my symptoms and those of my siblings, Dr. Barry would make sure the medications were paid for before my parents got to the pharmacy. And he and his wife are pro-life. The kind of compassion and respect for human dignity shown to people by these two doctors is not seen anymore in today's society. I consider them to be living heroes.

:) Click to report rating    3/8/08 3 3 5 The only qualm I have with Dr Barry involves his inability to keep his personal views from seeping into his practice. Otherwise he has been a great doctor and a great man to our family.

:) Click to report rating    3/5/08 4 4 5 There may be other FD's who are as good, but there certainly are none better. Dr. Tom Barry has seen our family through joy and great grief. Always, he has shown incredible insight, current knowledge, practical advice, and kindness and sensitivity. Dr. Tom has been our family MD since he arrived in Fredericton 35 yrs ago. As a registered nurse and as his patient, he rates a 5 +. Newly graduated doctors would be well advised to learn from and emulate Dr. Barry!

:) Click to report rating    3/14/07 4 5 Dr. Barry is a wonderful Doctor. He is always available when needed. He is great with my kids. Always making them feel comfortable and giving them a little medical lession while we are there. He listens to any concerns that we have and makes valid recommendations on how to fix a problem. He has treated 3 genereations in our family and he continuouly shows compassion and understanding. He always provides the assistance that we need, no matter what the age of the patient or issue being addressed. His medical knowledge is always current. He is extremly knowledgeable and if there is an issue that is out of his realm of expertise he doesn't have a problem seeking assistance from one of his collegues. I have only good things to say about Dr. Tom.

:) Click to report rating    3/13/07 3 5 There are not enough good words to describe this Dr. He's the best of the best! Dr. Tom has provided support for our family for 14 years and we count ourselves very lucky to have him as a Dr. We trust his advice and I can honestly say that I've never once disagreed with his opinion on medical issues or his common sense approach to raising a family and living a healthy, fulfilled life. Both Dr. Tom and Carolyn Barry are wonderful role models and have contributed greatly to the richness of our community.

:) Click to report rating    3/9/07 4 5 Dr. Tom has been an amazing support for my entire family for many years. Lately, as we all get a little older, he seems to take extra time, I never feel rushed, he is so helpful in a holistic way.

:) Click to report rating    2/24/07 2 3 Dr. Barry is very caring but at times he jumps to conclusions based on his opinion of you which may be based on faulty information. This leads to delays in getting the help you may actually need. The wait times for appointments are much too long and often result in having to be treated in ER. They ask who your doctor is,but I often wonder why, because there often does not seem to be any indication that the information concerning the problem you had and the treatment you received were passed along to Dr. Barry.

:) Click to report rating    2/21/07 3 5 Punctuality issues are a direct result of his thorough method of practice, time taken with patients, physician shortage generally and his caring nature. Dr Barry is the very best kind of family physician available to Canadians today. His well guided moral compass and his application of the resulting advice in his professional practice is truly admirable. If he were doing science this wouldn't matter, but thankfully, he's not, he's practicing medicine.

:) Click to report rating    2/21/07 3 4 Dr. Tom Barry is genuinely caring of every patient. Although perhaps not unique to him alone, he works very long hours. He is also diligent about his hospital rounds.

:| Click to report rating    2/19/07 3 2 Dr. Barry seems very knowledgable, but is very abrupt and tends to throw facts at you rather than find out what is truly wrong. I would prefer if he kept his personal views out of the office as well.
