20/06/14 4 4 1 1 Our experience with this doctor was very disappointing. He led us to believe he was very interested in figuring out our child's medical issues when really he had no idea and was unwilling to seek out expert opinions. We have since found help with a world renown specialist in allergy and immunology and our child is, thankfully, doing much better than he ever was under Dr. Lidman's care. He was very quick to place blame rather than admit that he simply did not know the best course of action.  Respond

20/02/14 4 5 5 5 We met with Dr. Lidman regarding our son's peanut allergy after having a bad experience with another doctor. Dr. Lidman was great with my son, patient, never rushed us, and explained things very clearly. Even gave us a practice epipen to take home. It was worth the long wait to see him ( it took about 8 months to get an appointment)  Respond

06/09/12 5 5 5 5 We were referred to Dr. Lidman after our 5 month old had an allergic reaction to eggs while sitting on my lap (he didn't eat them - was only near them). While on the waitlist to see him, my son had an allergic reaction to a medication in the Stollery. We were in to see Dr. Lidman within the week (which was approximately 6 weeks after initial referral). Dr. Lidman ws excellent with my son and provided us with lots of information. He never made us feel rushed and answered all my questions. He even answered questions about my daughter, who he wasn't seeing that day, which resulted in me being able to get her referred by our general family doctor after our "ped" had said it wasn't necessary. Since then, he has taken great care of both my children. He is PRO breastfeeding which is important to me and EXTREMELY up to date with regard to the "white out" movement and the over abundanced of grains/carbs/sugars in our diets and the detriment is has on our health. A+ in my books!  Respond

10/02/12 5 5 5 5 I recently took my 9 year old to Dr.Lidman and he had her cracking up and smiling with his jokes! He made her feel very comfortable and told her exactly what would be happening during her allergy testing. When he sat us down to go over the results, he was very thorough and explained everything he was prescribing and exactly how to use the sprays etc...highly recommend Dr.Lidman!! His staff was also very friendly and answered all my questions!  Respond

04/02/12 5 5 5 5 Dr. Lidman was very friendly, respectful and helpful. He listened to everything I had to say and asked the right questions. I appreciated his diagnosis and was very happy with the treatment plan and the written instructions to take home. He is one of the best doctors I have seen so far and we have seen many!  Respond

03/05/11 1 1 1 1 Worst doctor ever. He refused to admit there was anything wrong with me but be prescribed that I stay home and take a long List of drugs. He couldn't see past to what was really wrong with me. I eventually was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder that makes me swell till the point of not breathing only at certain times of the month. To this day he denies I have this condition although his superior, head of the rare blood disorders at the U of A, was the one that diagnosed me. He's pompous, rude and full of himself.  Respond

23/11/09 5 5 5 5 Dr. Lidman helped my 3 1/2 year old son with his asthma and allergies. Before meeting with Dr. Lidman my husband and I were in the hospital with our son at least once a month for his asthma. Dr. Lidman really listened to us and presribed the best medicines for our son. Since our visit in May 09(knock on wood) we have not been in a hospital. Thank you for letting me sleep better at night knowing that my son's asthma is finally under control. Dr. Lidman allows for a 'updated' approach to dealing with allergies and asthma. I have never met an allergist that has made me feel like we are finally on the right path for helping our son!  Respond

16/01/08 3 5 5 5 My son went to see Dr. Lidman a few months ago, and I felt Dr. Lidman was wonderful with him. He did lots of testing and was very patient. I felt we were listened to and he was very kind to him. My mother came with to Edmonton to do some shopping and she even said how good and thorough he was. Highly recommend this Dr. (I have seen a few in my lifetime and every Dr. -even the best- have days when they maybe aren't the most "personable". As patients I think we are being kinda naive if we think Drs are machine, that have no emotions. Personally I am thankful he helped my son. We have to go in another couple months again, and my son isn't afraid to go, now that he has met him and sees how kind he is.  Respond

03/01/08 4 4 4 5 I was impressed with Dr Lidman. My husband was frustrated with him. I feel he answered our questions, but he would often tune us out after we started talking. I think he had heard what he needed to hear and he would tune us out to think. My husband was bothered by that. Our son has had some extremely unusual complications and Dr Lidman has spent a lot of extra time eliminating those extra problems to ensure they were not part of the bigger picture. He is also the first allergist to accept that our son has SPD and how that can impact on the severity and type of reactions. In fact, he even questioned whether our son has asthma or a bigger problem and asked us to try some things at home to so we definitelt ay it is asthma. The only complaint I have is that my son has a severe allergy to something in nature and we have been told by Dr Lidman (as well as 3 other doctors) that we will never figure out what this allergy is since it is so rare.  Respond

25/06/07 4 3 3 He is good with children, but being a pediatric specialist, you would expect that. Be wary that he has a tendency to prescribe very strong medications for asthma and even a stuffy nose. He tends to go for the gusto, rather than trying other more mild remedies, or at least that was the conclusion of my daughter's general pediatrician and my pharmacist who both questioned the medications that he had prescribed. He did identify a couple of severe allergies that my daughter has, but I think he did not test her for enough allergies, as I suspect she has others that he never tested for, only the most common. Also, his advice on what skin creams to use for her eczema are not at all practical. He wanted me to apply lotion to her skin at least FOUR TIMES a day. Try applying lotion to a two-year-old four times a day, everyday! Overall, I'd give him barely an average rating.  Respond

28/05/07 5 5 5 This doctor took very good care of my daughter. He listened to all my concerns and tested her for things that i thought that she was reacting too. He also took the time to take to me ont the phone when I would call his office with any concerns.  Respond

20/02/07 4 5 5 We've been seeing Lidman for quite some time now. He is always fairly punctual and is very good with my daughter. He is the one who diagnosed her allergies (both food and environmental) and also did a food challenge with us. He was very caring and considerate and never once questioned our reasons when we decided to wait an extra 6 months before doing the food challenge. He's given us great advice regarding my daughters eczema and her asthma and we've always found that he takes time to answer our concerns and really explain everything to us. My only word of caution is: If your child ever needs a blood test DO NOT take them to the lab in Lidman's office. They are absolutley NOT prepared for infants and toddlers and it was a nightmare. Much better to walk across the street and go to the children's ward in the hospital!  Respond

30/01/07 4 1 1 This doctor did not listen to us as parents, and seems to only have "his" expertise regarding allergies/food intolerances. He was quite rude and when we left the office frustrated without any answers, a natural health food store nearby gave us more info and answers. He refuses to test children, based on a parent describing symptons, even though we pay for it ourselves. This was very dissapointing to take time off work for an appointment, miss school etc, for nothing! The school principal asked for his name as well, so she could warn parents, as they have seen our childs symptons, as well as others. Hopefully other parents have had a better experience with this doctor, however, we give him a poor rating. Thank you, it feels good to be able to tell the truth about our experience.  Respond
