:) Click to report rating *  2/13/10 4 4 5 Dr. Harper has been my family Dr since I was apx 10. I have found his knowledge to be extremely helpful and expresses it in a teaching manner. He is very concerned about his patients' well being and makes this evident in his communications with them (from my perspective). If the answer is not at his fingertips (which is rare), he will go the extra mile to find the answer to assure he makes an accurate analysis (which only takes 2 seconds to get the extra information). He understands well the various situations a patient experiences (speaking from my different experiences over the years) and even though there could be a bit extra wait time in the waiting room (depending on the season), it is well worth the wait and more to have a visit with Dr Harper. If he accepts new patients I would definately reccommend him as a caring, knowledgable, envigorating and motivational Family Physician.

:| Click to report rating *  8/7/09 1 1 2 Dr. Harper is an intellegent, caring, genuine man, and overall a good doctor. That being said, he does not work enough hours and cannot handle his patient load. I waited 4 months to get a pap test,(potentially dangerous), not to mention it is a minimum waiting room wait of 1.5 hours up to 3 hours-LITERALLY! (Unless you're booked first thing in the morning, which is rare)and when my grandmother had cancer, (before she was diagnosed/we knew), she had extreme and alarming symptoms, and when we called to make an apt. They tried to put her in almost one month in advance! My mother had to beg and make SEVERAL calls to get her in sooner on emergency status. Some things cannot be helped, (i.e the doctor shortage) but he is more than capable of employing a partner or even an intern to work with him, like MANY of the other doctors in that clinic. I know he is capable and knowledgable, but I worry about the health and safety of myself and my loved ones when it's almost impossible to see him.

:) Click to report rating *  8/19/08 5 4 5 Doctor Harper is truly the best doctor I have ever known...I care so deeply about my Mother and he gives her such excellent care...I wish I could do more to express my appreciation for his dedication, expertise and the extremely long hours he works...WHen my Mother has been in hospital over the years, I could not believe how often he was on the floor/in the hospital, checking on his patients--at ALL hours of the day and night. He is amazing and I will always be grateful for what he does for my Mother. Thank you Dr. Harper!!! See you at the Cape!!!

:) Click to report rating    2/13/08 5 1 5 I've been a patient of Dr. Harper's for 25 years. He is a wonderful doctor. Yes, the wait is long but, what do you expect with the doctor shortage.I think he is great and will continue to see.

:( Click to report rating    1/22/08 2 2 2 My comments about this doctor are not positive. I was a patient of this practice when I was younger. I left the practice in my teens when my mother discovered she had cancer, the cancer went into remission but then soon returned (within 2yrs) Dr. Harper overlooked many things with my mom and I feel had he been more proactive then she might have had more time with us. My father cont'd with Dr. Harper (much to my dismay)... now I have lost my father as well only to have some of his recent records copied and sent to me and lo' and behold issues overlooked for the past 10mths such has diabetes and never addressed. I caution anyone who sees this man----please get a second opinion because this man is a 'pill pusher' and not current with his records or attentiveness!

:) Click to report rating    1/20/08 4 3 5 Dr. Harper has been the GP for my whole family since he opened his practice nearly 30 years ago. He always seems to be current on guidelines and medications. Most of the time (everyone has bad days) he listens to what I have to say and we decide together what will be done. Wait times used to be horrendous but have noticeably improved over the last couple of years. Contacting his office is very difficult due to the minimal phone hours. It would be helpful if they would at least allow people to leave messages. A few months ago I gave up trying to get through to let them know that I wanted to cancel an appointment so it looked like I just didn't show up. Someone else could have had that appointment.

:) Click to report rating    7/20/07 4 1 3 Dr. Harper is a very knowledgeable doctor although his schedualing is not very efficient. I have seen myself wait up to 2.30 hours to see him with an appointment. I have been there once were they had scheduled 4 clients in a 15 minute slot. He also makes me feel very rushed when I am there with him and I can barely get a word in. If you are going to make me wait 2h to see you, the least you could do is listen.

:) Click to report rating    6/21/07 3 5 I have been going to Dr Harper for thirty years and never dissappointed. He will most definately take the time to listen and will even relate his personal experiences which makes him more human. His mannerisms are excellent and curteous. He will let you know if he doesn't know which give me great comfort that he won't mess you arround. I would highly recommend Dr. Harper but I know that refering people to him would only make it harder for him. I hope Dr Harper can cope with the workload and continue for a few more years. The office desk needs a little more compassion though, and the phones are attrocious. Tony Smith

:) Click to report rating    6/19/07 1 5 Very knowledgable and helpful. If he doesn't know what is wrong, he will give you a choice of specialist that will be able to help further. He doen't pretend to know if he doesn't know. The office wait times can be very long but worth the wait as he takes his time with each patient. The one negative I have is that they take the phones off the hook at about 2:30 pm even though there is someone in the office and he only works part of Wednesday and not at all on Friday. Very hard to reach.

:) Click to report rating    5/3/07 2 5 William Harper is a fine practitioner, who is knowledgeable and compassionate..a rare combination. His office is run as well as any other but we do miss Carol. The wait times in his office are largely due to the fact that he does listen to what his patients have to say and that is a valuable diagnostic tool. His practice is over-sized because he has trouble saying no to anybody who is desperately seeking a family physicain in a city where "orphan clinics" and "after-hours clinics" are the primary source of healthcare for many. The frontline staff are doing the best they can in an over-loaded situation. Many other practices are run much less efficiently. As for Bill, or Dr. BIlly , as he is lovingly referred to by many of his patients, young and old alike, he is one man, doing the work of two and doing it well. When he succumbs to the heavy workload and is in need of a physician himsslf, he will be hard pressed to find his own equal and thereby be receiving less than he has ever given .

:) Click to report rating    4/28/07 4 5 Bill Harper is one of the best , kindest , most knowledgeable doctors I have ever had . He listens , which is most important, and then he acts . He explains everything in detail and in terms that I can understand . He is a gem as is Nikki , who has been his right for many years . If one needs prompt attention , she will see that they get in to see Dr. Harper right away . If we want the best , like we have in Dr. Bill Harper , a long wait in his waiting room is a small price to pay .After reading the other posts , I wanted to add these comments to those I have already made . :) Click to report rating    4/18/07 2 5 Dr Harper has been our doctor for 6yrs now. We moved back to Moncton from Ontario & were told you will never be able to get a doctor but we certainly lucked out when I saw him on call for an ailment & asked if he could take us as patients & he said I am really sorry but have just too many patients but then finally said ok. I hear so many stories of people not liking their doctor & I am dealing with quite a few doctors now looking after both of my parents. I can only say we sure hit the lottery when we got Dr Harper for our doctor. I guess as in the other comments the waiting is long but he spends as much time as you need or want once you get to see him. I can only say Dr Harper when you retire so will I. LV & AV

:) Click to report rating    4/16/07 1 5 I agree with about everything that I have read, the waits are real bad...and theres probably a reason...but everything else is awesome. I do hope that you read these Dr. Harper, because if a few of these are fixed and some just can't be...but the ones that can be if they are you just might as wear a cape and fly cause you'll be that good

:) Click to report rating    4/10/07 2 5 Wonderful man and he knows his stuff. I recently went to him with a very unusual problem, he diagnosed it but had me see a specialist anyway - I say the specialist and Dr Harper had nailed the problem on the head. This is the kind of doctor that makes the long wait worth it.

:) Click to report rating    4/6/07 2 5 Dr. Harper is very respected among hospital staff and patients. He takes his time with each of us so therefore the waits are long but what Dr. is on time? I've had him since I was 16 when he was just a year or two into his practice and will hate the day he retires. I'm very blessed to have him as my families physician.

:) Click to report rating    3/31/07 2 5 has been with him since he started his practice in 79, and I have no regrets, yes you may have to wait a but I feel that his mannerisms and attentiveness makes up for the wait time. Thanks bill. you should be very proud of your practice. and Nikki has been with you through the long haul and deserves a pat on the back as well.

:) Click to report rating    3/14/07 1 5 Dr. Harper has been our doctor for many years now. He's a caring and attentive doctor. However, his practice is too large for him to manage properly. It takes way too long to get an appointment and when you do finaly get one you might as well bring a sleeping bag instead of a book. We're always told that early diagnoses is the keye to complete recovery. I really don't feel comfortable that anything early could be accomplished from that office. It would be great if Dr. Harper would bring in a partner, it would be in his best interest and the best interest of his patients as well. The phone lines are only open what I consider to be part time hours and he has a full time practice. Therefor sick patients who call after 2:00 pm has to see the oncall Doc. Not comfortable at all knowing that test results are no longer being review by a Nurse since her departure several years ago. We love you Dr. Harper but you need help with your practice which has grown. It may be safer for all of us.

:) Click to report rating    2/15/07 2 5 Dr. Harper is extremely thorough, good 'bedside manner'-he has been my gp for 25 years and I really don't like to have to go to anyone else.

:) Click to report rating    2/11/07 1 4 When I am in pain and need to wait in examination room for up to an hour, I sometimes feel the effects of this for many days. I have actually waited in the office for up to 3 hours!! In my opinion, there is less follow up on women than on men. Unable to advise Dr of more than one ailment at any appointment. Several signs up in office advising patients not to address more than one problem at a time, even when different symtoms may lead to solving the problem at hand. When I called to tell receptionist that I had 2 problems which I wanted to see the Dr about--I was told that I could only mention one of them and would need to make another appointment to ask about the other situation. I asked for 2 appointments the same day and was told that was not possible. I understand that he has many patients--too many probably--but I have hesitated to go in due to the fact that it takes so long to be seen. I do like Dr Harper very much but feel that some changes are in order.

:) Click to report rating    2/8/07 3 5 Sometimes he's a to the point gotta go type of doctor, but most times you'll find him ready to give you the full history on whatever medical condition you're inquiring about. I've had him as a doctor since I was a child and I still adore and trust only him!

:) Click to report rating    2/6/07 5 5 I've learned to take morning appointments so I don't have to wait too long to see him. Dr.Harper is very proactive to evey degree with my family. Yes it takes a long time to get into see him for an issue that is not an emergency, but it is well worth the wait after hearing so many horror stories about other practioners. His bedside manner is of the utmost sincere, caring, and empathetic. He takes the time to educate you before writing prescriptions and even makes time for the parent of that child who is faced with reoccuring ear infections... by showing you what he's looking at in the ear. It makes me feel blessed to have a doctor so "into" his work after so many years of practise. He never charges me for insurance paperwork for long term disability when other doctors charge. I personally feel when a doctor charges for paperwork,(which they are permitted to do)they are doubling up on the payment of their service to you, from the patient as well as MEDICARE. THANK YOU DR.HARPER & BLESS U

:) Click to report rating    2/1/07 3 5 Dr. harper was my doctor for 14 years, the only reason he is not now, is because I live in Alberta. I remember going to see him as a child and thinking he was the best doctor there was, I am sure that he still is. i also remember friends of mine that went to see him, we all loved him. I loved that fact that he would put all the pictures you drew or coloured for him all over his walls! I wish he would come to Alberta and be my doctor again, it has been 10 years since I have seen him..

:| Click to report rating    1/31/07 1 3 I agree with all the nice things that were said about Dr. Harper. He does take the time, and for that reason, we end up having to wait longer. You just can't please everyone. However, I do feel that he's a better doctor when we're not real sick. My brother -in-law could have survived his cancer is Dr. Harper would have been more pro active in sending him for the proper test when he origianlly started complaining of his symptoms.

:) Click to report rating    1/30/07 2 5 Dr. Harper is a very busy man and the waiting room times are very long most times. However, he MORE than makes up for this when you get to see this wonderful man. He gives you so much one-on one time it is amazing. He always discusses my concerns and explains everything in terms I can understand. He has been my family doctor for more than 25 years and I would never consider going to another one. He does support you in your quest for alternative treatments whether it be chiropractors, acupuncturists, etc. He will also give you referrals without question if it will ease your mind. One thing I really like is that he does not pretend to know everything. If he doesn't know or isn't sure, you know a referral to a specialist in the area is coming. All in all, this doctor is wonderful in every way!

:) Click to report rating    1/30/07 4 5 I've been a patient for as long as I can remember. Wait times have gotten better in recent years and as others have said, when you do get in, he gives you 100% of his attention + time. He is also very supportive of other practitioners like chiropractors, massage therapists and naturopaths. This has been great for me and I hear others don't have that support from their doctor. Thanks Dr. Bill for being there for me and now my daughter - who is now 4.

:) Click to report rating    1/30/07 4 5 Dr. Harper has been my doctor for about 25 years. I agree with D. Tingley's comments. I also would like to add that I appreciate the fact that a request for a certain test/procedure is granted without Dr. Harper telling me, "Oh, you don't need that." This has been the experience of many of my co-workers and I am thankful that Dr. Harper allows me to have the peace of mind that a simple test or procedure will give me. S. Rouse
